    Weakest weight class so far?

Looks like 135 may be the weakest and when Murton gets there others may leave the wt. class. Didn't Ashbrook defeat Howard last week? Looks like Harrison Co. might be moving up the polls as a team.

Looks like sanders and Golsby need a third match then. I thought Golsby dominated the 1st match and then ran out of gas to allow Sanders to come back. Is Sanders that much better than Ross? Seems Ross lost several times to Golsby last year.

    New & Improved Rankings

Where did Sanders defeat Golsby? I'm quite certain Golsby defeated Sanders at the dual at Holmes. Golsby took him down 2 or 3 times in the 1st period then ran out of gas and allowed Sanders to come back and almost tie the match in the 3rd. At the NKAC Golsby was able to match Tuenerman, he did however catch a hip toss that gave him 4 points and tying the match. Golsby took the lead in the 3rd with a switch, then Thuenerman got an escape a point for stalling and finally a takedown to win the match. From what I have seen Golsby wrestles to the potential of his opponents. He only defeated Hovekamp by a couple also. He gets sloppy, but is able to beat anyone on a given day, but also able to lose to anyone on a given day.

Bulldog are you sure Golsby lost to sanders from Harr. Co.? I though he beat him in the dual at Holmes. I also heard Golsby tech pinned Spaulding.

    Bourbon County Bash Dec. 17th

State; The only two on the other side were Weston and Smith. Happy; The highest placer that Howard defeated was 5th. Howard did however defeat who stepped on the mat in front of him. It could be argued that there were 2 upsets in the top half. Mines over Banks, and Ervin over Cooper. In my opinion, not taking anything from Howard, is that Smith was the second best in the wt. class. He lost his last match in typical Eastern style, not giving it his all after not reaching his goal. I also think Banks may have been a bit better than Howard. Weston and Cooper are equal with Howard, he however did not wrestle any of these in the state tourney. Unfortunately Howard has many doubters, he will hopefully guiet those doubters this year.

Who Beat them was Larue Co. at the Oldham Co. Super Duals I have known Joe and Rusty for going on 20 years now. I have mentioned to them how sneaky they personally are and how cocky their wrestlers are. Joe's reply is typical Joe, Laughing, patting me on the back, and saying in a low voice, "I know". Rusty on the other hand denies it. 25 years of dominance maybe 15 years of continuous success. Woodford had great success in the 70's, however in the 80's they were almost forgotten. They returned to their 70's success in the early 90's, and have continued througout. At for other people knowing Woodford Co. out of state, I would give that credit to Joe Carr and the Carr family. The Carr name is a wrestling name, if not for Joe Woodford would have just as much recognition as the others. I on the other hand am asked if I wrestled for Campbell Co. whenever I talk about wrestling in Ohio, to Ohio wrestlers, coaches, and ex-wrestlers in the Columbus, Dayton, and Cleveland area. Lately they have been asking if I wrestled for Ryle. Only on occation do they remember the name of Woodford Co., they do however know there is another good team in Lou/Lex. area. As for who I root for, it's not uncommon for me to root for a Woodford Co. wrestler. I root for the wrestlers that have class on and off the mat, and for those who will represent our state with dignity if they continue on past high school. Not all Woodford Co. wrestlers are cocky, just more than on usual teams. I know the secret to Woodford's success it's team pride, maybe only Larue Co. can compete with that. I enjoy watching them "run the gauntlet" onto he mat. I enjoy watching the team greet their wrestler after the match win or lose. This type of hype pulls a team together, but in my opinoin they need to do this with humility, much like Larue and Campebel do.

I think I will go and polish my 2 title rings also. That would be team title rings at that. OH and by the way we did it without any outside help, ie recruiting, we developed ours from the wee ages on up. Spanking some other teams, hmmmm. I do believe WC earned a second place at the Oldham Co. Super Duals. As for loyalty. Don't you feel any loyalty to the coach that taught you wrestling for 3 years before you went to WC? Go where you want, I personally like Joe and Rusty. I just sometimes don't appreciate how their team acts on the floor. Wrestling is more than just winning. It's about respect, dedication, loyalty. The reason wrestling is great is because you can be bitter enemies on the mat, but when it's over can be friends. Comradery, and the respect of other teams is what makes wrestling so great. You unfortunatly did not learn most of this. I do however believe there are many who do at WC. Maybe not as many that should though. Team titles mean nothing if you don't earn the respect with them, they are just hollow victories.

Pioneer pride, So true, so true. Non one denies that Joe and Rusty do an excellant job at Woodford. However the wrestlers there have an attitude problem. You don't see the same Booing to Larue, Campbell, Sheldon Clark, or any of the other perenial powers in wrestling. Kygrappler; If you believe that building a tradition is taking from other districts you are sadly mistakin. building a tradition is just that, wrestlers moving up the ranks in the system, not transfering from another system.

    Greatest dream matches

I think an even better match would be Ian Horn Vs Jacob Murton. I would think Joe Carr, but he was not as active a wrestler as Ian, so the match would not be as exciting. The clash of the titans would be Berrow Hwt from Central Hardin Vs Dill Hwt from North Hardin. Both of these guys were beasts, there may not have been much wrestling though. Would love to see these two clash though.

    Oldham super duals

Holmes wrestlers always seems to start slow and peak for regionals and state. The NKAC meet is this weekend. It seems that Holmes always does poorly at NKAC. From what I have heard from the kids at Holmes they are having a rough time of it this year. No-one seems to be taking it very seriously. They tell me many of the wrestlers on the team are missing practice, Golsby missed over a week of practice and doesn't push himself in practice. I've been told the coach may not return next year, because of these reasons. Anyone know if there is any truth in this?

Best Wrestler to Wrestle At Your School

Pin to win I agree. That is why it is so hard to determine who is the best wrestler at any school. Larue Co. also had some good wrestlers earlier in thier beginings. I believe one was Jason LaRue. He was tough considering that he was on a first year team.

    216-275

I know for a fact that 3 of them could have wrestled 215 on their teams but choose HWt because they could win more matches. All three of them made it to the semi-finals, one of them made it to the finals. Many, many wresters undetstand that they will not become a state champ. Many have more realistic goals of being a state placer. Most good coaches goal is to make each wrestler the best they can be. Sometimes that just means being a 500 wrestler.

The National Federation of state High School Associations is in charge of Wt classes. They survey the states and wrestling teams to try and find the best wt. classes that are feesable. I believe the web site is WWW.nfhs.org

    216-275

The powers that be have already addressed this. In the 80's the wt. classes were 167, 185, Hwt (250 maximum) The 90's the classes changed to 171,189,Hwt (275 maximum) mid 90's they added the 215 wt class. The problem is that if you add more wt classes at top then smaller teams will have more problems filling a team. Many already believe that 14 wt. classes are too many. I am one that believes that the classes need to be changes. We don't need 5 wt. classes between 125-145. I would be all for a wt. class at the top something like this. 175, 190, 210, 230, Hwt (Ulimited or 300) However I think you will find out that the better Hwt's weigh about 230 or less. They also enjoy wrestling those that weigh 275, they are slower and can't move well.

    NEW WRESTLING SCHOOLS

I believe Davies Co. may be in thier 1st or second year. Newport is in their 1st vasity season, (have had a middle school team for 2 or 3 years.)

    145?

I'm guessing Murton must be going 140 because 145 looks to be a killer wt. class. Harrison Courney (Woodford) Patrick Banks (Larue) Ryan Ross (Harrison) Brian Wilson (Campbell) Josh Cooper (Simon Kenton) Not sure who will win out of this group. I however think Courney still makes to many mistakes.

If Trinity is going to be there shouldn't Clark be the favorite at HWT? I don't think Goodrich can match up to Clark.
