are there still meets on snow dayS?

It mostly depends on the home school. Most home schools will allow sporting events even if thier school is out. By the evening roads are clear and safe enought to travel.

    Toughest region

Being down to region 6 means only having 1-2 wrestlers in each wt. class that are competitive. This year region 6 only goes 1 and 2 deep in competitive wrestlers. Many of the teams are looking at being able to place 3 or 4 in the region for the 1st time. Everyone believes that the 3 and 4 spots are wide open, even though in many of these wt. classes those kids will be 2 and out at the state tourney. In the past region 6's, third and fourth place finishers were very capable fo winning 2 or three matched in the state tourney or more. This year only the top 2 will probably win 3 or more matched in state. (except 145 that is)

    the importance of JV wrestlers

This is a great idea, but you run into problems. In Nky we use to have a JV District tourney at the end of the year. They finally stopped it for a couple of reason. 1. There were not enough participants. 2. Who qualifies as a "JV Wrestler"? Small teams like Dixie, Holmes, Boone Co., Lloyd. Either did not have J.V. kids or had very few. The second problem was that they would send thier varsity kids to the tourney. In thier eyes their kids were JV kids wrestling vasity because they did not have enough kids for a varsity squad. In the big teams eyes they were allowing thier varsity wrestlers win JV tourneys. Nky then decided if you wrestled in the JV district then you could not wrestle in in the varsity district. This was impossible to enforce. Once again the small schools stated this was unfair to them because then they would have no-one to participate in the varsity District, and thier kids would lose the opportunity to wrestle kids of thier same ability. You then still have those varsity kids that get hurt the last week or two of wrestling and the JV fills their spot in Districts/Regions. The larger teams have solved this problem by sending thier JV teams to lower level varsity tournaments. The small teams also send thier teams to these tournaments.

    the importance of JV wrestlers

what is the importance of JV wrestlers? 1. It allows those wrestlers that are 1st year, to hone thier technique against other wrestlers of the same ability. 2. It also gives the varsity wrestlers someone to practice with. Small teams have a disadvantage because they do not have JV teams. They must take 1st year wrestlers and put them in varsity situations/matches. These kids eather sink or float. Those that sink quit wrestling, and never develop into good wrestlers. example for reason #1: TAKEDOWNS. 1st year wrestlers do not have good technique therfore their takedowns are always stopped. When this happens time and time again they quit shooting singles and double. If they were wrestling equal competition they would be successful on a few of their shots and continue honeing thier technique. Example of reason #2: PRACTICE PARTNERS. Without the JV wrestlers a 119 lb wrestler would wrestle the 112,125 wrestlers ever day. This gets you no where day in day out. Your practice partner learns what you do and when you do it. By the end of the year nothing gets accomplished in practice. If you have several different partners to choose from then you get different looks at technique.

stacked regions at certain weight classes

I think that Harrison Courtney has 2 negatives going against him. Don't get me wrong I think he is an outstanding wrestler. But he has two things against him 1. His youth, it is very difficult for someone to win a state title as a freshman let alone in a stacked weigh class like this. Have to give the senior the edge here both Aylor and Wilson have been under the lights (big advantage) 2. Woodford does not have as strong a schedule as Ryle, Campbell, and Simon Kenton. There is a reason why These three schools do not have many undefeated state champs (I don't think any of the Cooper clan was an udefeated state champ, If any it would have been Brad). These three schools constantly seek out schools/tournaments that they can not win. This puts these wrestlers in state tournament competition every week. Dont get me wrong Courney has some advantages. 1. Been to the state tournament 2 years 2. placed in the state tournament 2 years 3. Being coached by one of the best coaching staffs in the state 4. Has a team behind him that will keep him up for the matches Once again just my opinion, and my wife tells me my opinion doesn't count anyway.

I know that the 5-Star Classic (Lafayette) is being held along with the Big East (Eastern) KWCA, lists the Woodford Co. Duals and The Bourbon Co. classic. Are these two events still going on? If so who will be attending? I'm trying to figure out what possible matchups will occur this weekend, and possibly where to go and watch. Also: Can anyone tell for sure where South Oldham and Oldham Co. are going this weekend? They are both listed at the 5-star and Big East.

    130

I would have to agree with Chief. It is just as easy to place second at 135 than 130. After Murton you have Ashbrook and Miller. 130 After Peace you have Parker, Jackson, Coleman.

    weakest weightclass this year

I'm pretty sure that A. Cooper will not be staying at 160. Who would he be running from? If anything others would be running from him. He was at 160 for the TCI just to wrestle King from (DX) I think they have had some previous problems.

    Toughest region

I have done a similar think myself Ranger. In the past (Before the expantion to 32 teams. Region 6 and Region 5 (They were called Districts then) Combined to make a Region. The numbers at this time was that District 6 would still average 70% of thier wrestlers making it to state. prior to this District 6 would rotate with the Jefferson Co. schools 2 years with district 5, 2 years with district 4, and 2 years with region 3. The results were 75% of district 6 would make it to state. Boone Co. and Newport Catholic were dominate in the 80s and 70s. Each have a wrestling state title, but now neither have a team.

    Northern Kentucky tournaments

Why is it that Norhtern Kentucky does not have many tournaments throughout the year? It has been argued that Region 6 is historically one of the toughest regions in the state. However they do not hold wreslting tournaments. The only tournaments that I know of are the NKAC (Which rotates around the schools), and the Couger Inv. I know that Ryle hs held the Raider Rumble. Campbell, Simon, Scott, Dixie, Holmes. Do not hold tourneys.

    Northern Kentucky tournaments

Campbell wrestled Moeller in the 90's. I think the years they won state. I'm not saying that these teams would come the 1st year, but Campbell could pull eventually some of these teams. If they were able to get some of the better teams from the Tri-state area. Eventually the better teams would come in 5-7 years. My point is that Campbell has been going to Ohio since the 80's as have Simon Kenton, and Ryle started going almost as soon as they started a team. Each of these teams have earned some respect across the river. If Campbell would have tried to start this tourney in the 80's. By this time they may have been able to attract teams like Moeller, Harrison

    Northern Kentucky tournaments

I would think that Campbell Co. would hold a big tourney. They should be able to draw teams from Ohio, Indiana, and Lex./Lou. area. Being so close to Ohio and with the recognition they have in Ohio they should be able to get some of the better teams to attend. Could you imagine having Moeller (OH), Harrison (OH), Fairfield (OH), Campbell Co., Ryle, Simon Kenton, Woodford Co. all in the same tourney. These along with some of the smaller schools in the area (any of the NKY schools, some of the smaller Ohio schools, Lawrenceburg Ind. S. Dearborn IN.

Do you think 135 is a weak weight class this year???

This wt. class is similar to several of the other wt. classes. After you get past the 1st 3-4 wrestlers, the rest are unproven (last years results). I would say it is probably a below average wt. class compared to the other wt. classes.

    TCI

Smalls: I was referring to Golsby's fear, B/C he did not make wt. at TCI. Even if Golsby could place at Mater Dei, (which if he has the desire to he could, because he already has the talent). Their team would never go there. They barely have a team and most are Jr. high and 1st year wrestlers. I do however believe he did place in the state tourney last year at 140.

How many UNDEFEATED records could we have this year?

Master you still have me confused. :? How will there be 15 undefeated records? Grasshopper is having trouble understanding the philosophy.

    conner inv.

What's up with Harrison Co. this year? They have been ill since Wayne Co. tourney or before. Ross has always had somewhat of a temper on him. If he was thrown out he will have to sit at least the next event, and he will need to be re-instated.
  25. grappler-of-old

How many UNDEFEATED records could we have this year?

Do you mean 14 undefeated records at state? Since there are 14 wt. classes.
