Ohio T of C Duals Set to Close Out

OHIO TOFC TO CLOSE DUALS OUT AT 96 TEAMS - ONLY 15 SPOTS LEFT

Only 15 spots remain in the 2nd Ohio Tournament of Champions Team Duals, to be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Columbus Convention Center, in Downtown Columbus, OH. Each team will be scheduled to compete in five dual meets and will be placed into their pool on the basis of how their point getters do in the Individual TofC Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, April 24. Teams will still place based on the type of team they are (large state all star team, small state all star team, large club team, community team, etc...)

The Ohio TofC is the largest one day amateur wrestling tournament in the world and considered by many as the toughest and best run youth wrestling tournament in the country. More than 3000 wrestlers, ages 5-19 and representing 30+ states, are expected to compete in the Individual Tournament on April 24.

The TofC is currently planning on using 30 full size mats for the Saturday Individual Event but, due to facility issues on the Sunday, may only have the space to use 24 mats for the Duals.  Tournament organizers are currently working with Convention Center personnel to determine if more mats can be utilized on Sunday, but are proceeding on the basis that 24 will be the limit.

Already, wrestlers and teams from 18 states, and as far away as California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas are slated to participate in thre Tournaments.

The Entry Fee for the Duals is $600 per team. The entry fee for the Individual Tournament is $60 for the first wrestler from a family and $40 for any addiitonal wrestlers from the same immediate family. A always, there is NO SPECTATOR ADMISSION CHARGED AND NO CHARGE FOR COACHING FLOOR PASSES.

Registration for the Individual TofC Tournament will open up on December 1, 2009. However, registration for the Team Duals is expected to close out as early as November 1.

Spots that remain open are:

High School - 7 spots (23 are currently filled and represent 13 states)

Middle School - 4 spots (32 are currently filled and represent 16 states)

Elementary - 7 spots (26 are currently filled and represent 13 states)

1. High School Division:  For those wrestlers born in the years 1991-1995* ( a wrestler born in 1996 may compete in this division and may be in middle school).

Weight classes for Divisions 1 will be: 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 142, 150, 160, 171, 189, 220, 285 (Team roster may have no more than 21 wrestlers)

2. Middle School Division:  For those wrestlers born in 1995-1997 (wrestlers born in 1998 may compete in this division and may be in the 5th grade).

Weight classes for Division 2 will be: 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 126, 133, 140, 150, 160, 180, 230 (Team roster may have no more than 24 wrestlers)

3. Elementary Division:  For those wrestlers born in 1998-2005.

Weight classes for Divisions 3 will be: 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 120, 140, 160 (Team roster may have no more than 24 wrestlers)
