  1. Someone needs to be contacted and made aware. Does anyone know contact information for those above President Hunter ? I will begin an email chain tonight and start making phone calls tomorrow myself. We just started into this sport and I would like to fully support it by making those if authority aware of the chaos occurring. I’m sure fines and penalties will be enforced if we all come together to get it done.

  2. So does anyone have an opinion on this? Looks like due to MS season length now the bylaws need to be adjusted is my point. Not saying I agree or disagree, just saying it should be considered universal. (Again- I’m new to all of this and learning as we go) While the above makes sense and like you said “hasn’t changed” the same is NOT in place for placing at HS state thus making the child ineligible to compete middle school state. It should be considered a universal bylaw and “grandfathered” in per say when considering the child eligibility for middle school after they have placed at the high school state level. Just like if you place in middle school state deeming you ineligible for youth.

Based on the rules last year that is accurate. To my knowledge the bylaws haven’t changed. (Not arguing whether you agree with it or not, just starting the facts). Students that chose to wrestle middle school state (regardless of their age/grade) can not wrestle in youth state if they place at Middle School State. Students that compete at Middle School state but do not place can still wrestle youth state. So if your 9 year old 4th grader places at middle school regions, competes at middle school state and comes in 5th place then they are basically forfeiting their chance to compete at youth state. If you qualify at MS regions you can defer your spot for Middle School state and opt into youth state instead if you decide you prefer to wrestle youth.

  4. Just putting this out here.

I guess if there is not any stipulations between MS,HS, and youth, I guess a child can win state for HS, then state title for MS the following weekend, then the next day wrestle 14U/12u or whatever their birth year is at state and win a title at every level. Something, again, does not seem right here.

  5. This is completely absurd. There should be no stipulation between Middle school and youth state if there is none between high school and middle school. Why should it be any different? I guess I need to actually contact a governing body such as USA wrestling board instead of a forum to better understand this. I’m new to all of this just this year and learning as I go, but that seems completely unfair, needs a universal rule.

  6. So let me get this straight… a kid cannot place in top 4 at middle school then compete their age/weight at youth state. But a kid can go to high school state and win/place and can still win/place same at middle school?!? Something seems wrong with this if I’m understanding correctly?!?

    please clarify.
