I won’t pretend to be an expert on this or know any kids situation but I do know I wish I would have been held back. Nothing to do with sports. I was 16 and turned 17 my senior year. My daughter is in the same boat. I would have liked to of had my drivers license for a little longer lol. To each their own. Good thing about Ky is middle schoolers can wrestle high school. So most of them are wrestling high school kids anyways.

No he didn’t. He said the Rainey’s are proof the younger kids can beat the hold backs. Now the Rainey’s are great kids and great wrestlers. But won’t they be 15 in 8th grade? Isn’t that what he’s complaining about?

Rankings were used to help seed this. They really helped out a lot. A Few upsets and a few we’re spot on. Then some wild cards out there like Matney (JC) , Johnson (Caldwell co), and Ball (larue) that have made some big Improvements. On a side note I hate to make a complaint but the refs were really trying hard to dictate every match with the stall calls. I’ve never seen anything like it. Not all of them. Really two refs were throwing stall calls around like crazy. And I know refs have a hard job. Hate to even say anything but the inconsistency is too much.

I wouldn’t even say it’s a rough draft of state. It’s just a tournament. Tells you who has some big scorers in an open between Ryle and Union. Doesn’t tell you much else about state especially without Paducah Tillman, Christian co, and Johnson Central there. The question is will Union have enough Individual Champs to beat Ryles overall quality and depth. Or will JC be able to pull a few upsets and take it all.

Ryle is loaded this year. They are going to be tough to beat in a dual. It’s going to be interesting to see if they have the 1st place finishers to beat Union in the individual.

Big win for Spencer tonight against life. Life had a hammer at 125.

Looks like the Raneys were dominant. Jordyn with one tech fall and the rest pins on the way to 1st. Jayden with all pins till the finals where he beat nationally ranked Rocco Cassioppi 7-0 For 1st. I believe Eckman got 4th as well. Great showing. Anyone know if any other Ky kids placed.

All those entries from Ryle not going now? What happened there?

Ryle has a bunch going. I think there are 8 high school kids and 2 middle school kids going. Nick Baldwin from Belfry and Ryan Smith from Johnson Central for middle school. Ryder Trumble, Issac Thornton, Cole Thomas, Carter Messerly, Noah Duke, Caleb Duke , Charlie Mckune, and Lane Kyser For high school.

Great job and thank you for your work. I will be surprised if any of the top 6 106 are back at 106. They are all pretty big right now. Also do you think Thornton will go 132. I believe he is signed up at 126 for super 32. Just an FYI both Ramey’s are ranked in the top 10 in the nation for middle school. Jayden just beat the number 4 kid in the country and super 32 champ. And I’m not debating or disagreeing with the rankings. I’m just creating some discussion as I’m bored waiting on the season to start and most places up here wrapping up their off season practices

Looks like Branson Smith is back at Martin County and Adam Williams is back at Johnson Central for another year.

With Raney winning the high school state championship will he come back to wrestle another middle school state championship? I believe this is the first time a 7th grader has won the high school state championship in Ky.

Yes it will be Five middle school titles. I believe they won youth every year before that but may be wrong.

Levid should have a real chance at winning a state title in single A at Grundy. However he will have to beat the kid from rural retreat that’s beat him before. 195 and 220 look like their going to be a lot tougher in Ky this upcoming season.
