    most exciting regional weight classes

Seems like 182 could be stacking up to be an amazing one with Stevens coming in from 170 and possibly Duke and Boyd following right behind. I thought it was one of the weaker weight classes to start the season before all this movement. Really thought it was a two horse race between at the time #1 Blanton and #2 Chandler. Now Mayer has beaten Blanton in a match that came down to the absolute last second. Mayer now #1, is undefeated in the state of Kentucky Blanton is #2 and a 2x state placer at 182 (4th in 2017; 4th in 2018) is #2 with his only lose coming from #1 Mayer. Antonio Abren is #3 with a lot of good, quality wins and put up a good fight against Blanton but couldn't pull it out in the end at WCI losing 9-6, with that being his only loss within the state. #4 is Colin Stevens with only 2 loses on the season coming from Micah Ervin (join the club lol) and a 2x state placer at 160 and 152 (3rd in 2018; 6th in 2017). Levid Rodriguez is #5 and is only a freshman. He's undefeated within the state of Kentucky and is a legitimate threat to stop Blanton from a 3peat of region titles. Andrew Marchal is #6 with only 1 loss this season coming from #3 Abren. He has some good wins on the year including a 11-6 decision over #7. Sam Jenkins is #7 with also only 1 loss coming from #6 Andrew Marchal but still has some quality wins under his belt Ethan Tomerlin is #8 with only 1 loss on the season coming from #3 Antonio Abren. I can not find any other info on Tomerlin so his season has been a short one with only 1 win over a ranked opponent. Noah Duke (#4 at 170) who is supposed to be moving up to 182 from what I've heard has only 1 loss on the season to #3 at 170, Clayton Boyd. Everyone knows Noah Duke is an absolute stud and will add to what is already a stacked field at 182. Duke is a 1x state placer as he took 5th at 145 in 7th grade and was a hair away from being in the state finals. Let me repeat, he was in 7th grade. Unfortunately he was hurt last year and couldn't compete but is back with a vengeance this year and 182 is what's on his mind And last is Clayton Boyd who missed weight last week, could also be moving into 182 as well. Boyd has only 1 loss on the season coming from #6 at 160, Triston Brooks. Boyd is another stud that could possibly add even 1 more to the field at 182. He is a 1x state placer at 160 pounds last year, placing 5th Now if only Chandler wasn't hurt. What a weight class that would be. Every single one of these wrestlers has no more than 2 losses within the state of Kentucky. No more than 2! Out of the 10 guys I named, they only have 9 losses. That's unbelievable. With some possibly great regional matchups coming from the weight class. State will be huge for this weight class with some major fireworks!
  6. Haha take your time Ranger. Everybody here is just joking around. Will the heavy finish be done by tonight??
  7. As we STILL wait lol. Starting to hear crickets
  8. That's what I'm saying
  9. New rankings coming soon with all the weight movements, upsets and injuries??
  10. Well basically, Ethan will have his match results posted on a website called Trackwrestling depending on if Belfry post their matches on track. If they do then it will have all his varstiy matches that he's wrestled this season and past seasons. Ranger will compile matches and info from Track and also get some other information from coaches who have been surrounded around or watched the kid wrestle. Ranger will take into account quality of competition, record, and what ranked opponents he has beaten and/or lost to. If he has beaten some ranked kids and has a pretty good record, which you say he does, then Ranger will take notice and put him into the rankings. If he does not than Ethan will have to continue to win matches and beat higher ranked wrestlers but usually all of that takes care of its self. Ranger, in my opinion, does an amazing job with rankings so your kid keeps winning and beating highly ranked competition, he will see his way onto the rankings
  11. New rankings coming anytime soon or waiting until after wrestling this weekend??
  12. Any noticeable undefeateds left?? Like anybody in the top 5 from each weight class still undefeated?
  13. New rankings coming soon???

    Early Season Upsets

#14 at 195 Chandler Miller fall over #4 at 182 Branson Smith #17 at 132 Marquelle McDaniel MD over #10 at 132 Layne Siebert #22 at 145 Eric Green Dec over #10 at 138 Brent Hudgins Unranked Bryson Fields at 152 Fall over #11 at 152 Gavin English and Fall over #19 at 145 Jayden Watson #21 at 132 Caige Spicer Dec over #8 at 152 Virgil Garcia Really exciting but nothing too insane other than maynr Branson and Virgil suffering early season defeats. Most of these wrestlers are wrestling out of their weight class and it's early in the season. I don't think there's much to worry about. They will be fine as the season goes on.
  15. Any new rankings soon or waiting until after this weekend??

    Early Season Upsets

We will have to see. I'm not sure where he's going permanently, I just know 138 and 145 are highly competitive and stacked. At 138 you have Deck, Yost, Insko, Murrer, and Bates and at 145 you've got Lawrence, Carr, and Wheeler. Both weight classes are extremely top heavy and some pretty good wrestlers in the back end. At the end of the day 138 and/or 145 would be a tough change for ANY wrestler

    Early Season Upsets

#10 at 138 Brent Hudgins returns and gets two big wins last weekend against #10 Diontae Rone at 145 and an upset of #5 Ronan Wyatt also at 145 after a crushing upset loss to #22 Eric Green the weekend before

Any big tournaments this weekend? Anybody know if multiple ranked wrestlers will be at the same tournament?
  19. thewrestlingguru

    Awesome weekend!

WOW! What a great weekend of wrestling and a ton to talk about but that'll be saved for tomorrow and I was also thinking about doing some top grapplers/wrestlers of the week. I would pick 3 from the weekend and have them mentioned
  20. thewrestlingguru

    Awesome weekend!

I would love to hear about them! I'm guessing the tournament wasn't on trackwrestling so I didn't get to see or hear about a lot because of the focus on the Ryle Raider Rumble and the Ironman
  21. I had heard that the #1 kid at 180 had tweaked or turned his ankle or something during the match and Harrison County actually went decently deep into the playoffs in football for once and he was the starting running back so I'm not sure if there was a rematch that it would be close. I remember they wrestled at the same tournament last year after a horrible football season, I think they won 1 game and he was pretty healthy I'm assuming and he pinned the Newell kid so in my opinion I wouldn't put too much stock into that match. I'm not sure how he'll do at 170 but it is pretty deep. It'll be pretty tough to place
  22. #1 and #2 will be featured in every weight class except 120, 182, and 285. Wish we could get every 1 and/or 2 to go to this tournament. That would be an awesome day of wrestling! Would almost be like a mini state including the incoming Ohio teams. I'm also interested in the team race and where everyone lands if everyone is in the weight class they're supposed to be (that's most likely a long shot). I believe Union will take 1st but I wanna see how the rest of the field does. The Deck brothers will have to rack up the bonus points for Madison Central to stay in the race for runner up or even third. That shouldn't be too much to ask for the returning state champ(Thomas Deck) and his brother, returning 3rd place finisher (Gentry Deck). The rest of their teammates will have to help big and advance deep in the tournament. Hedges and Lenhart will have to make some major noise, maybe an upset here and there to keep Trinity the favorite for runner up and maybe even taking 1st with a little bit of luck and upsets. Kulmer and Herron also have to dominate their respective weight classes and look to get as many team points as possible in every match. Nate Wheeler, Jimmy Kraeszig, and Benjamin Deprest will have to be on their A games this weekend as these are the heavy hitters for St. X, but Wheeler will eventually see #2 Payne Carr. Jimmy will see #2 Tom KC. Deprest will see #1 Ervin. This is why they have to be on their A game and these are the matches that the St. X wrestlers will have to come up big with wins. Especially Wheeler and Deprest, as their toughest competition will be from Union and they'll wanna keep as many points away from Union as possible. Personally I think Wheeler can beat Carr and Deprest can avenge his loss in the state finals last year against Ervin but that's just me. Pledger and Ohlmann will have to push deep into the tournament and come up big as well The last team I wanna talk about and I'm interested in is Walton Verona. This is a big early season test for them in my opinion honestly. Are they legit as a whole team or are they all bark and no bite and have some holes in the lineup? Now, Spencer Moore. #2 at 106, only a freshman, may be the fire and heart this team needs to get a kick start in this tournament. He has it in him because even as one of the youngest on the team he's got the heart of a lion and leadership qualities. He needs to start off huge and finish even bigger over fellow freshman, #1 Cole Thomas of Ryle. Cole will have home field advantage but Moore is an animal and I wouldn't be surprised to see #2 beat #1 here. Tristen Spalding at 145 I believe is the real deal but he's in an extremely tough weight class so he's only #6. He needs to get points where he can find them and I believe he can do that BUT as I say that, I just can't see him beating Wheeler or Carr. I would also slightly lean towards Lenhart in a matchup between the two but I wouldn't bet on it. Spalding needs to get bonus team points where he can find em. Now Braden Mulchay. #5 at 195. He is a big question mark. Last year, goes into state as #1 at 182 and gets beat out early in consultation rounds (dominated 15-5 by state finalist last year Diion Leavell in quarters. Gets beaten 6-1 by 6th placer, Dakota Santiago in his first match in consulations and 4th round of consulations overall) and ends up not placing. During the regular season he had an unbelievable season and beat top competition. Not sure what was wrong with him at state but that's what happened. Comes into the season ranked #1 at 182 above 4 returning state placers, granted he did beat 2 of them but still you all get my point. He's a toss up in my opinion, not sure what you're gonna get. My final point is that he's gonna have to have a big day and beat who he's supposed to beat but I see him getting beat by Kulmer and I don't think it's a close match at all. I also see him maybe losing a close one to Merkel of Conner. We'll see if Braden is the real deal this weekend but in my mind he will have trouble and Walton Verona may get exposed as a whole if he doesn't come up big, but than again I could be wrong. He didn't have an outstanding REGULAR SEASON last year by just getting lucky. He's got skill but we'll see how far that skill can take him. But that's it. That's my take on this weekend if everyone is at the weight class they need to be in but who knows. Hopefully we'll see all these scenarios play out? Gonna be an exciting weekend!

Wouldn't we see a couple of All-Star Classic rematches? Yost vs Insko and Blanton vs Chandler or am I wrong? I think I remember the Yost and Insko match coming down to the wire and Blanton controlling most of the match vs Chandler

Madison Central will be going to the Ryle Raider Rumble but I still believe Apollo is going to the Derby City Classic. A lot of quality teams going to DCC. I will look into it but any exciting matchups off the top of your head? Harrison County has the #1 182, Male has the #2 182, and Atherton has the #3 182 along with Bullit East having #18 and Woodford having #10 also at 182. And if Apollo is there than we will get to see Morgan, Mattingly, and Insko in action. Obviously the Raider Rumble will have most of the attention, which it should, but I think this tournament is a really good under the radar type of tournament. Keep an eye on this one

I could possibly do Region 8 if need be
