Blue, I can tell you I personally worked a table for the last 3 years and our program has NOT received a dime. In turn I don't feel they should have, it's our tournament we should be willing to help for an hour or 2 and help offset cost to our assn. As far as I have seen the only people who have benefited were the board and their minions. Again politics the only people that should get any benefit are the athletes !!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree with rjs, Montgomery county was just fine and I quoted Bulldog below. He actually has a decent idea of how to make it more practical. School A in say Western Ky bid it for 2 yrs then maybe school B in southern Ky win the bid for 2 years. that way the teams that live in the farthest parts of the state wouldn't always have to travel 4 ,5 hours. But that is secondary to the point I was making, why were these decisions made without the body of our assn being informed prior to the vote? Roberts rules of order states that the body must be duly notified prior to a vote. The overall point is that we as a body are being pushed in a direction by a few rather than the majority. We need to start making meetings, voicing our opinions and voting for the good of our assn and our athletes not the way a few members on the board want. Does anyone else see the point ? It's not just one thing the venue was just an example. The move from KWOA to the committee on folkstyle wrestling attached to USA wrestling was another vote that was pushed by the board , last year at the state tournament it was brought up and quickly shot down. Tyler cried about liability and we allowed it for that day only. He later pushed a vote through to permanently attach to USA wrestling. I was unable to attend that meeting as I had plans ,had I known that vote was happening I would have moved things around in order to be there to fight it.

That is precisely my point. We have board members who are there only for themselves rather than for the kids. Politics is killing our ASSN. The whole purpose of the board and our ASSN. is to govern and protect our sport and athletes, however as of the last couple years our board has become a self serving entity. The state tournament was held for years at Montgomery County which was a great venue, now it is in Louisville Convention Center where they run out of concessions for the spectators, the coach's room is basically non-existent parking is expensive as well as admission . If they wanted to change locations why were the schools and clubs not given a chance to bid for the right to hold state tournament , we have several schools that could handle that capacity. It begs the question who's pockets are getting lined? If not that then what favors are being exchanged. In my opinion! I hope some members of our forum see this and start to question and make sure to attend coaches meetings and/or step up and run for a seat on the board to take us back to the system of what's best for our sport and our kids.

I am just curious to see if I am the only coach/parent who is concerned with the direction our program is headed? I sit here and notice in the past couple years its more about politics and personal accolades as apposed to being about our young wrestlers. Thoughts?
