What time does wrestling start?
-
Your theory doesn’t appear to be true. For the bracket above from 2016 there are 14 of the 32 wrestlers that were in 10-12th grade.Thats just one year. Now I’ve met some 15 and half year old 7th and 8th graders, but I’ve never met a 12 year old 10th grader.

Brackets have been posted again do you think they will be changed

The arena reminds me of the “Dungeon” the atmosphere will be much better than in Louisville. -
Too far away from everything. On a Sunday. Only guaranteed two duals. Those would be the top 3 reasons in my opinion.
-
When your old enough to take driving lessons you shouldn’t be wrestling middle school kids anyways.
-
Agreed. Just saying the rule should change. Not taking anything away from the kid. He’s great wrestler obviously.
-
To call a kid that is 15 1/2 a middle school wrestler is a stretch. The rule that allows a kid that age to wrestle in middle school is terrible and needs to be corrected. Most people are sophomores at his age.

What format will the midddle school duals follow and what place will they wrestle to? Long ways to go for a lot of folks. Last Year they only wrestled to 4th place.

Hope you wrestle better than you spell. -
Excusing poor refereeing, or bending of the rules by saying they are just little kids is not accurate or fair to the “little kids”. The 130 finals match was just the icing on the cake that day. What will burn kids is out is sacrificing and working hard to make weight the FirstTime they step on the scale without having to stand on their head (which I believe is illegal) only to then lose matches that could have seeding implications due to referees being out of position to make calls, making the call the other coaches are screaming for while being out of position to see the action to make such calls, not enforcing the rules (like being returned to the mat with both arms trapped). If we are going to have rules they should be enforced. Another thing that burns kids and parents out is sitting in a gym for fours before the action starts.

That match was an embarrassment from an officiating standpoint. I understand we desperately need referees and that you have to start somewhere, but that poor kid was out of his league refereeing that match. Unproven, new refs should not be officiating finals matches at the middle school level. It is not fair to the kids. These matches often have seeding implications.

Thank you for taking the time to do this.
-
So will this mean that the bracket will be set up so you will not have a situation where a kid can lose to the same wrestler twice before the medal round?

There three hotels five minutes away in Wilder at the botttom of hill and two more in Newport within ten minutes.

You have had different experience than I have had going to these tournaments. Trying to get exhibition matches is like pulling teeth. You get no help from the tournament directors and the referees act put out about it. -

I agree. I took my son to he KWOA last year and there was no one in his weight ( which was surprising considering he was 11 and 110 lbs) and only one in the weight above him so they combined the two and he wrestled the same kid twice. Then had beg and plead to get an exhibition match. Driving 5 hrs round trip is drag for a day like that. Certainly want to take him again but it is difficult to make the commitment and risk wasting another day. -

Matney kid looks tough. Did someone on here say he was only in the 5 th grade? -
That would get my vote!
-
I see you’re point. I guess its just so different than I am used to. I’m having trouble wrapping my head around. It doesn’t help that I’m not real bright!
-
The regional winners seeds aren’t the problem. I haven’t looked at all the weight classes yet, but I can tell you that at 121, the above is not happening. There are 3’a wrestling 4’s and 2’s wrestling 2’s in the first round.
-
An explanation would be nice. At 121 For example I see 2nd place finishers wrestling each other in the first round? Same with 3rd and 4th place finishers.
