    questions re: byes vs forfeits

If this is all about Reg 5 results there were only THREE competitors at 120!! That is insane. If Yost gets one more win (even a decision) then Woodford wins the tournament. Blame the lack of full rosters not first round byes.

    17 teams with full rosters

Coaches need to be more progressive, imo and this is a perfect example of how. Another plus for Wed. duals is getting some students to attend. Its very hard to get HS students to come sit in a gym all damn day on Saturday to cheer on their friends. But have more Wed duals and hype them up as much as you can during the week and hopefully you'll get better attendance and loud, interested fans leading to a better atmosphere overall and more kids wanting to be part of that. It sounds silly but having peers showin up and cheering you on is a HUGE asset to have and helps justify all that off season training, weight cutting and hard work. The most electric gyms I wrestled in were state duals, state tournament, WCI finals and a couple intense Wed duals with rivals.
  3. yeah pulling for Joey and Max big time this year. And I think they both get what they've been working for since middle school.
  4. fair enough. not looking to argue about it, just not willing to act like there arent' top kids in the 145 weight class already that would've been projected ahead of Cambron. And I'm willing to guess the names you mentioned that have lost to him in the past have progressed and trained harder. Obvs he hasn't since he's no longer competing.

Not just Lville schools lacking. Can't believe Henry Clay, Tates Creek, Dunbar and Lafayette don't have a full squad. Coach Teater hits the nail on the head as to why. Wayne County, Larue, South Oldham, Woodford, and many more top teams from the last decade or so used to fill two full rosters easily.
  6. behind Roberts, Hanson, Henley and Oxford

    Gilman vs Lizak

down 8-0 (9-0 with over 2 mins riding time) and Gilman stormed back and took the lead then pinned him. That's what national champs do. It was insane.

Chris Dunn deserves mention. The most fluid wrestler I ever saw in KY in the neutral position. Coasted thru undefeated his senior season only using like 3 moves (he could score on any wrestler in the state regardless of weight class with a front headlock I'm not kidding he just perfected it). It was phenomenal the raw talent he possessed.
  9. Agreed. We'll have to wait and see. If it's handled correctly this is not a bad problem to have. I know back in Woodford's hay-day the younger backups often times would've placed top 6 at state behind a kid that was a top 3 placer. I can think of at least one two time state champ who wasn't varsity until his junior year.
  10. A kid that hasn't appeared in a Ranger ranking the last several months to really watch out for: Tylan Tucker

    Cooper was nasty.

    Sean Fausz

Nathan Boston took 3rd at 133 (only loss was 7-6 to kid from VaTech) and Keegan Duncan went 0-2 in same weight.

Knable won 112 as a freshman and that weight class had: 4th Anthony Smith: Two time finalist, 4 time placer 6th Chad Haydon: state champ, All American 2nd Jason Daviaux: 2 time champ, 3 time finalist 5th Neal Crawford: state champ DNP Josh Kenneweg: finalist Stacked weight class like that won by a freshman is ridiculously impressive.

    Fort Knox invitational

I feel like for insurance and liability purposes you can't just enter your son unattached at a tourney his team isn't participating in but really that is a question best answered by your coaching stafff.

    Capital City Classic

thanks for info. Track didn't say OT and had a final score of 8-4...did Roth get 2 near fall after the takedown too?

    Capital City Classic

He beat a freshman from Simon Kenton with 13 losses 8-3 in the quarters then lost to Roth in OT (Roth was pinned in finals by Insko). In consos Tucker beat a freshman from Harrison with 10 losses 9-5 then beat Miller from Taylor Co. 3-2 to take 3rd. Coming back from injury in a sport like wrestling is so difficult. Aside from conditioning a wrestler must overcome being tentative and anxious on the mat. I suspect Tylan will take a little time to hit peak performance but will be ready to battle by 3rd week of February. Bigger question lies with what happens to the lineup?

    State Duals ?

agreed. Ky wrestling could use a few more guys dedicated to growing the sport at small schools like him and yourself (won't hold it against you for moving back to TC )

    State Duals ?

This has to be Western Hills first appearance at state duals, right? Good for them. This is why the two divisions help the sport. Give more chances for wrestlers to compete on a large stage.

I haven't seen Brock in Illinois results for a couple weeks now. No info on why.

Missouri over Buffalo 28 -8 (MYERS)

Austin is gonna make some noise in the next couple months. Adjusting to weight and competition level just in time to make a run for NCAAs. Do work young man.

KY wrestling at Midlands and Scuffle

lol you can't be serious. I'm unsure how transfer rules work for NCAA wrestling, can he compete for Campbell this season or is he just wrestling unattached?

KY wrestling at Midlands and Scuffle

Austin really turned it up in the 3rd period and imo had that guy pinned in the conso quarters. Hoping he continues to excel and is a NCAA qualifier this year. That be a huge accomplishment for a RS Fresh HVYW. Did Boston get injured during a match and forfeit?
  24. Larue won 48-36 over Woodford and then lost the next week to Simon Kenton 48-33 and later in the season beat Meade and Wayne Co by smaller margins than they beat Woodford. I know the transitive property doesn't work on comparing dual teams but just adding context.
