The ref not making the right call at the right time and forcing overtime is %100 the referee interjecting themselves into the match. I agree it's unfortunate, but the best referees don't decide the match they enforce the rules irregardless.

That's the coaches association foul up right there. KHSAA gives out the coin sized medals.

https://www.nfhs.org/sports-resource-content/nfhs-sport-questionnaires/ Let your voice be heard! There are some interesting rules NFHS is considering. 4-Point Nearfall? 3-Point first takedown? College in-bounds rules?

Wayne, Moore, Harrison is a competitive pod. There should be some good matches to come out of that. Boyle and Taylor should be a real good dual, I'm picking Taylor to come out of that scrap. But I would not be surprised to see Boyle pull it out.

Prediction for 2A 1. Johnson Central 2. Paducah Tilghman 3. Taylor County 4. Harrison County I'm torn with 2-4 because Paducah Tilghman I think has the most talent and where they are good, they're very good, but they do have some holes that could be a problem if Harrison comes out firing. Taylor as the 4 seed finishes 3rd regardless if they get Paducah or Harrison. But if Harrison performs Paducah and Harrison should flip flop.

Ranger thank you for doing these. It's something that kids and parents look forward to all year. I know it's beyond dual season, but I have always been curious. What's the algorithm for Duals rankings? -
Before they did away with Districts, Region was set up a lot like how Semi-State was set up last year. Two Districts paired together to create a Region. 4 Regions across the state, with top 4 going to State.

Region 2 JV Nights Coaches, Tues. Dec. 7th at North Hardin we will be doing a JV night. This will consist of strictly JV or inexperienced wrestlers. Our goal is to get some spotlight matches for those kids who wouldn’t normally get to experience that. This will be a JV weigh-in and matches should not count against Varsity records. We are going to try to match up wrestlers ahead of time so you will not have to bring any kids who will not be getting matches. I am going to create a Google Sheet with weights and teams interested in coming. Obviously we will try to match up weights accordingly, but if needed, wrestlers may wrestle another wrestler if the weight class is above or below. Please feel free to reach out to me for any details regarding this. We will be having another one on Thur. Jan. 13th at LaRue County as well. weigh-ins, start time, and tickets info should be coming. Please contact: eric.burrell@larue.kyschools.us

Looking for an event to send my JV team to something on 12/18. Doesn't have to be strictly JV. Just looking to get more mat time. Would possibly hold something, if enough teams were interested.

Are there any OPEN events on 1/22?

Competition aside, realignment needs to happen this year. I am not knocking any JCPS/Louisville area school but the sheer number of kids participating has been on a decline for many years. Since the last realignment the following Jefferson County Schools have folded or haven't fielded teams beyond a handful of wrestlers in recent years: Holy Cross, Iriqouis, PRP, Southern, Atherton, Manual, Eastern, Jeffersontown, Kentucky School for the Blind, Seneca, Shawnee, Western. Jefferson County should combine to make 1 region and create 2 regions from the Outside Louisville, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Bardstown area schools.

The current regional pairings already require overnight stays for most schools, the majority of Region 2 schools traveling to the nearest Region 1 school (Union) is still about 2.5-3 hours. Having 2 semi states in a central Location... lets say Owensboro and Lexington cuts down on alot of logistical issues for KHSAA and teams out on the far reaches of the state. The key is that it needs to be in a central location, and for teams traveling from Region 1 and Region 8 it's gonna be inconvenient wherever you hold it.
