    Middle school Weight allowance.

I'm just a newbie, I wrestled back in the 80's. Fast forward to today, I have a son that is wrestling now. Yes there is still cutting, yes you will have a few that are extreme, yes it happens, its wrestling, but over all its better than it used to be. Forcing a scratch weigh in is promoting early season cutting. Plain and simple. I can tell you that off season training is available, we wrestled all summer, and Ranger123 helped and coached my son and all the others. My son is not a hammer, only a 2 season kid, and it was nice to see Ranger123 coach/teach/train/encourage him no differently than any other kid. This was 3/4 days a week, not close to his house, not close to our house, not just his team, etc... his dedication and time spent towards making KY kids better is unquestionable. We found this to be the case with every coach we had at this club. I've heard great thing about several other off season clubs in KY as well. Instead of focusing on weight and the 2 pounds, I would recommend focusing on technique, getting extra time on the mat, and the 2 pounds wont make a difference.

    Question...Tap Out?

Thanks for the input, that was my thoughts also. Should have received at least 2 near fall and 1 penalty point instead of only 1 penalty point and no near fall. Luckily my wrestler won the match and it wasn't an issue, I just wanted to get some clarity on the rule(s) for future knowledge.

    Question...Tap Out?

I ran into this type of situation this weekend, if someone would like to give me some information and remarks, I would appreciate it... My wrestler gets a take down, awarded 2 points, works up the body and throws a half in, as soon as he turns the opponent the opponent screams and the official stops the match and signals potentially dangerous. I asked him, what was potentially dangerous about a legal move and he responded with "he screamed so I had to stop it". I asked him "does my wrestler at least get back points since he turned him?". The official decided he would give him 1 back point since he stopped the match before he started counting, I asked for 3 since it was a legal move but was denied. Is this correct by the official?

KSWA 2016 - 2017 Registered teams for Middle School

So is KSWA Staff saying that these teams are out and not allowed to wrestle in the District/Region/State tournament? The last sentence on the form says "Forms will not be accepted after January 1st, 2017 and that team will not be eligible to compete in any KSWA sanctioned events.". KSWA Staff posted this on January 1st so I'm just trying to figure out all of the rules. 2016-2017 Bylaw forms not turned in Region 1 Region 2 Region 3 Region 4 District 1 District 2 District 3 District 4 District 5 District 6 District 7 District 8 Daviess County Bardstown WC Doss East Oldham Bourbon County Harrison County Hopkinsville Barren County Fern Creek Oldham Tates Creek Paducah Tillman Boyle County Male South Oldham Purchase Pounders Bullitt East University Heights Nelson County Spencer County North Hardin Relentless WC Taylor County

    TAPOUT RULE

It happened to my son this year. 7th grader, wrestling up in a high school match. broke out of a cradle, snatched the kid in a headlock, perfectly legal, kid squealed and tapped, ref broke the move and restarted them. The high schooler went on to win the match. Ref told me that they now have a squeal rule and have to break the hold. I told him he should have awarded the pin instead since he was caught, flat, tapping, and sqealing. It sucked, but we tried to turn it into a learning lesson for my son.
