Still haven't heard anything for Team KY youth!! I know this is Middle School, but I thought I would try.

Does anyone know of a tournament this weekend?

I heard Union coach is handling Youth Team KY, does anyone know if that's correct? Does anyone has contact info?

Yes you can come as individuals. Yes they are really nice. It's one size.

Anyone can come and wrestle as long as they meet the requirements in the flyer, we are looking for teams who want to participate, and turn this event into a big annual tournament which is less costly on the wrestlers and everyone involved but still allows for the competition on a high level and standard. We will try to stay with KSWA guidelines on teams and breakdowns of team divisions, but this will change based on number of teams and how big each team is, Thanks

Did anyone hear anything this Sunday about Youth Team KY? Middle School Team KY passed out info but nothing for youth.

Why is it we cannot just keep the basics, we have weight classes, keep the wrestlers within them, discipline is part of wrestling, weight discipline is one of them, why continue to bump up weights to meet needs of those who do not manage, its part of a wrestlers responsibility to work hard and have discipline to make weight, not continue to make exceptions and reasons to give additional weight allowances. Wrestling is the hardest and most disciplined sport today, however, exceptions keep being made, stick to the rules, get them out and make them remain disciplined. This penalizes those many who manage, and have the discipline to stay within the weight allowances, and when we allow others who cannot do this, then we provide an additional leverage against those that maintain.

Completely agree w it. I would like to add that this year's Youth State Tournament was like any other we have attended before. The new brackets, 16 wrestlers were awesome. Competition was tough, not like other years. Great job.

Great read. I think it's important that we understand some Youth wrestlers participating in MS are wrestling only youth wrestlers, lower weight. When it comes to weigh in the 120 and above, Youth wrestlers (Elementary age) actually wrestle MS wrestler with MS age. There were comments on here referring to difference of opinions on participating in Youth State while already earned a MS state placement. If you have a wrestler in the 100lbs&below bracket, they most likely wrestle youth (Elementary age) wrestlers. If you look at 120lbs and up, the Elementary age wrestlers participating in MS will wrestle MS aged wrestlers. Huge difference. Therefore to declare someone crazy is really not fair. If you have an Elementary aged wrestler participating in MS, great, but let the child wrestle their own age and size, too. I guess it's always up to each individual wrestler and parent to decide. Winning or placing in MS State or Youth State, i think it's equally a great accomplishment. To downplay one to another would be a great injustice to the program and the child.
