I encourage my kids to play other sports in hopes that the other sports will do the same. I ask our kids to at least go to a camp or two and a few open mats and play something to stay in better shape if not wrestling.

As a dad of a wrestler it has to be a proud moment win or lose congrats for just him getting that far and yes he is a freshman and he will be back and great in the future and barring injury I am sure he will reach AA status someday. Good luck to all the Ky kids wrestling college everywhere no matter the level its great to see kids getting there and living a dream.

I am considering if I can get school to approve of it to try as well we have lots of girls talk to me about it but don't want to wrestle boys I know in Tn there is all girls tourneys might only be 4 or 5 a season but if I can make it work around my HS and youth then I am willing to try as well.

I get it this site or page is a All Kentucky national team but is there any high schools out there that is considering having all girls teams I know in Tn they have a separate girls and boys wrestling even State Champions. I believe if we really want to grow our sport we should look at this with all the recent success of not only girls MMA but Olympic Champion and with most of the local colleges picking it up as well.

Yeah 2 different stories here as for the move KHSAA has allowed kids who didn't move at all for plenty of reasons good and bad when parents and kids just lied and said parents divorced or other lies to justify and was allowed when everyone knew it not to be true including the districts some should have been denied and wasn't so this seems really strange. So would like to see what is the real story here and hope the kid does wrestle somewhere if he wants.

I'm with grappler-of-old just give me kids but I don't think at my school it will help maybe one or two a year truth wrestling is just a lot of dedication and work and a lot of todays kids just don't want to work that hard. But I am here for the ones that do.

Had not thought of the at their cost great Ideal I was just going to wait and get new next season might be a different thought there thanks.

tja update St. Catherine's wrestling team as of yesterday afternoon has officially been taken over by Bellarmine University. This will be NCAA D-II it seems as for the kids still lots of questions they are working on as Bellarmine is so much more expensive we as well as lots of others are having to officially apply today and see what will be done I am sure like my son there is lots of kids that are unsure as 20,000 a year more is a lot to figure out that's the difference between the two schools cost per year. The rest of St. Catherine's sports went to Midway college in Lexington. Good luck all and keep these kids in your thoughts and prayers as they try and find new places to wrestle.

Just so people will know yes this is really a tough time for the kids that had plans to attend St. Catherine's or already did but Coach Adams has been great trying to stay in contact with the kids. My son Skyler Martinson is like most waiting to see where he will be attending some have already moved on to other schools such as Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville. We have been told there will be a final decision this Tuesday as to were the entire team will be wrestling next season. From the information we have yes Bellarmine is one of those the other Midway in Lexington but anything can still happen there is lots to figure out with every kid having different financial concerns as well as locations and academics so we will have to see where these kids land. Me for one I am thankful for Coach Adams taking so much time to be keeping all the kids updated and assured in a time that has put pressure on these young men. I just pray for all these young men to find a new home that suits them. Also wish all the other students who woke up Thursday with no college to call home anymore all sports and students wish you well. I will post again when we know for sure hope this helps clear up some rumors and thoughts. Good luck all.

I don't post on here much to talk about my kids or anything else but I want to take the time to say congrats to Skyler Martinson who will be attending St. Catherines to room with his friend Andrew Akley from Nelson Co. From someone who still considers himself new to the sport after 12 years I have learned a few things and one is nothing is a guarantee with injuries and other things its a hard sport to say the least. The kids have to go through so much more than people would ever realize if not a wrestler or in our world. The ups and downs for all these kids is huge week after week. For Skyler he has had numerous injuries over the last few years and even this year. Torn muscles, broken collar bone and others to mention a few, but he fought through it all to be able to live out his dream and finish on the podium he entered the state tourney injured this year and then suffered another when he faced Bryce the 3 time champ in the quarters this year which was the 3rd year in a row to face him there so much for random draw LOL. After all was said he still fought hard and made it. As a coach and dad I couldn't be prouder of the young man he has become. He has done the best he can with limited resources have at DC and we are very proud of him. I would like to thank those who have helped get my son to this level and I look forward to those who will be helping he become a much better wrestler at the next level as he gets better coaching and others around him. Again thanks to all who have helped him either with me or at the camps he has attended. You have helped him become only the second wrestler ever to medal at state from DC, win 100 matches at DC, and become the kid with the best record in DC history as well as most accomplished with a 3rd place finish at East Worlds and 2nd place at Brute Nationals.
