  1. Ranger, I can help.

Olivia, Addison and Lauren won the 14u freestyle nationals on saturday.  GREAT ACHIEVEMENT in itself.  On Sunday the 15uww world team trials took place. Olivia won the 50kg and earned the spot to compete in Budapest.  Lauren took 3rd. She will get to challenge the 2nd place finisher for a spot on the pan am team.

This was the largest womens freestyle event in the world.  AMAZING job to these 3 young ladies. All are 13 and wrestled up in age groups.  Well Done.

My thing is I try to support our in state tournaments as much as possible. If I go to Trackwrestling and see 1 person or 30 people registered I register my girls. Without in state support our in state tournaments will never grow.

I've already registered my 2 for KWOA  as well. When the freestyle tournaments start populating Trackwrestling I'll sign them up for those as well. We have to be the ones to grow them whether your wrestler is male or female.

Wrestledad,  I can appreciate your view on supporting in state events however, this can be an expensive sport.

Expense is relative to each family so I only consider value.  If we travel to a very small in state event and cannot get at least a couple of competitive matches then this is not a good value. Some people are only chasing awards. I would rather my kids get really good competetion . The fact that the tournament director will not allow wrestling up divisions to get better competetion  means there  is almost no value in attending these events.

Might not be an issue trackwrestling is showing both Messerly girls and Trinity from Anderson Co are entered into the Girls State Tournament.

The Messerly twins will compete in the Girls State tournament.  This was a very tough decisions.  Ultimately,  the chance to be a part of history and the chance to be the first girls to win a HS Title.  Best of luck to  Lauren Walton.  Go be the first girl to win a ms state  title.  Thanks to all who had the girls winning a ms state title.  Good luck to all in the post season.

  5. KYWCA . Ok that's awesome. I'm sure you are correct they are smart enough.  My concerns are why hold this event the same day as MS state? Why make the best girls in the state choose which event to participate in.  Why not open this event to all states to really grow the numbers and competition level.  This could be a great opportunity for girls wrestling.

  6. Well said Alf!!!!

I agree with everything said. I will pile it on the refs.  Not understanding the rules, illegal holds caused injury which should have been avoided.  Paying refs by the hour does not promote them to keep a dual tourney moving.

Healthy competition I like it.  Hopefully they meet up before the state tournament.  Will the Messerly ladies wrestle at MS state or the girls state championship?

Good question. They have not decided. It's a shame they have to choose between events.  Probably have 3 ms girls win H.S. titles. Walton and 2 Messerlys.  If tournaments were not the same day.
