This a great event to get everyone ready for the season. Cannot thank Ranger enough for his time and commitment to make this happen. Also, this event wouldn't be what it is today without the help from Dutch as well, not to forget my man Gameface for his help as well. Both Great men that have helped grow this event. THANK YOU.

    Coach Roth

This year will have some great match ups. I love how we’re having the female hammers competing. These 2 are pound for pound, some of the toughest wrestlers in the state!!  I’m looking forward once again to providing the music and MCing the event that Ranger,Dutch(in spirit), Coach Joe,Issac and Mike are putting together. What a awesome way to showcase this great sport and athletes!!

  3. We wouldn’t miss it because we Love Stacy and Mason!!! Oh wait.... and you too Brandon!! You’ve been my friend 25 years and I’ve had the pleasure of coaching with you at Raider Youth when your sissy was happy just getting a medal at the take down tournament. Now look at him! Still winning takedown tournaments!! You have been family to all of my kids, a boyfriend to my wife and the original one to nickname Cole “Gameface” when he was 5. I’ve seen hundreds of kids benefit from your love and Stacy’s hospitality. You guys will sorely be missed and I’m not looking forward to looking for a place to train when everything else is snowed out and the don’t have a sauna!!!! LOL!!!  All serious, you have been a brother!!

  5. Another memorable National Duals  for Team Kentucky Middle School. We Went 4-4 on the weekend and won the Bronze pool. Our ultimate goal is always to wrestle our best and come out on top. However, the amount of talent that is available in Kentucky(number of kids) vs. some of the best in the nation, I’m extremely proud of how hard they wrestled and effort they shown. None of these kids quit on themselves or their team. We made some great friendships and showed many states that Kentucky is closing the gap. We beat 2 out of 3 Nebraska teams and only lost by 9 to the first team. We can beat all 3. We were within 4 of the Illinois team. Thank you to all that support these wrestlers throughout the year. It was  a pleasure to be able to coach this team another year.

Also thank you to KFWC and president Tyler Baines for sponsoring the teams gear and Efren Quirino of River City for producing the gear at a discounted price and getting it to us on time. I have been there I don't think it is better than Alltech.  Fans would have to walk on the floor to get to their seats.  Not sure there are enough seats. Not a very well kept place kinda run down. I believe this would be a step down.

Plus Lou. has always been a problem in the way way past.  The farmers convention was always same weekend as state tourney and hotel rooms were almost impossible to come by.  (not sure if it is still the same weekend)

I hear what your saying and respect your opinion. I do agree it is not as modern as Altech and your right you have to walk down on the floor. I just like the closeness of the mats to the seats. If it weren’t for the dirt and the restrictions keepingvteams from celebrating like they did down in Frankfort, I like Altech. I just want somewhere that the kids are highlighted and the excitement and atmosphere gives the feel like it did at Frankfort.

  8. Let’s all be honest, the ones that are in charge of our State tournament care less about the energy, fan base or promoting this sport anymore than tennis. Football and Men’s Basketball, yes but unless we start looking for ways to get their attention, it won’t change. Has anyone ever heard of the KHSAA asking how they could make the event better for the wrestlers and fans? It’s a dictorship and we take whatever they give us. Look at the venue compared to MS and Youth. The facility in Louisville has served us great the last 2 years at both levels. You could pack the stands, lights turn in and off easily and 2 spotlights make it look pretty cool. Bring back the noise makers and team colors in the stands. Designate areas to the different teams!! Teams that win last year, get front and center and go from there. Just my 2 cents

Heres what I’d tell ya. It sucks. Blue is a top 5 middle school wrestler in the state regardless of weight class. But you know what he got beat at state and that keeps him off the team. Give the kids that beat them a little hand clap and wish them luck they earned it that day. There’s kids that deserve to be on the team that will not be on it. That’s just the natural of the beast. Good luck team Ky.

Great statement Gene. Blue is a top notch wrestler and one that you know any team would benefit from him being on it.

Won't the team need a few backups?

We are taking one wrestler per weight class. That is all the gear that is being provided to us. They have tried to have 2 teams in the past and Coach Carr said they had a difficult time filling 2 teams. This is my 2nd year volunteering to coach Team Kentucky. I’m doing my best to fill the team with State Champs and Runner Ups. Also understanding that the majority of kids have gained weight since State. So to understand that it’s post season and most of them have gained weight, I tried to place them in the weight thats closest to where the wrestled at State but several weights don’t align so they moved up to the next closest. Through this process, it sucks that there are kids that want to go and we have only so many weight classes. I’ve had a couple conversations with parents that I wish we could take their wrestlers because some are evenly matched up to the ones going and are just great kids and families. However, as the association stated, the State was the Team Qualifier. If there’s any open spots, we will offer a wrestle off at the KWOA as stated on the flier if needed.

Actually, you have the 75 pound state champ moved up to 80 pounds. So, that should leave that weight open to Colin Tucker of Wayne since he placed second, if he was interested. If not, that place should only be automatically filled if there was only one kid wanting to take that spot. And if you are wanting to take the best team possible from Kentucky, there should be wrestle offs for the open spots. And I’m not sure how Jake Cain can be left off the team. Even though he lost to Kinley and Walls in the Middle School tournament, he turned around and beat both of them in the High School state tournament. I think he should be offered a chance to make the team as well.

Are you Colin Tucker’s Parents Or Jake Cain’s parents?
