  1. I appreciate the interest in Team Kentucky. However the State Champ for that weight class decided to go, so there will be no wrestle off
  2. Reaching out to coaches/teams and parents of wrestlers that won or placed in the Middle School State. Kentucky USA Wrestling is paying $850 for a team entry into the Middle School National Duals in Danville Illinois on March 23rd thru 25th. Efren is putting together the Team gear which will match the Finals shorts given out at State. I have a block of hotel rooms already outside of Danville at a cost of $100 per night. I’m hoping that we will have a coaching staff of Coach Moore (WV) Coach Kinley(Madison Central) Coach Goss(Woodford) Coach Vlach and Coach Raney(McCracken) , Coach Messerly and myself(Ryle) all apart and helping out since their sons qualified. We will set up a couple practices either together or a couple different locations due to teams being in different parts of the state. The goal is to create a great experience for these wrestlers to represent Kentucky on a National level and build some friendships with other team members. Weight Class potential line up: 75-Jayden Raney McCracken 80-Jordyn Raney,McCracken 85-Joey Sander,Ryle 90 Spencer Moore, WV 95-Cole Thomas,Jeffery Kinley,Ryle 102-Jeffery Kinley,Cole Thomas,MC 110 Devon Herron,JohnHardin 117-Bryant Beane,WV 125-Reece Goss,Woodford 132-Kolby Koepp, McCracken 140-Caleb Wittrey,Scott County 150-Stephen Little, Union County 160- David Wallace?? Or open to fill, 175-Braden Giannone,Carr Academy 195-Levid Rodriguez,Johnson County 220-OPEN TO FILL, 275-Deshaun Stevenson,Holmes please let me know if their on your team and either want or don’t want to qualify so we can fill the weights and be competitive. I can be emailed at tlc.darrenthomas@gmail.com Thank you for your help, Coach Darren Thomas, Ryle Wrestling
  3. That would be great. Thanks Bulldog
  4. That’s where I figured he would be going. But I wanted to put it out there for him. Thank you for the update.
  5. Only after we hear back from the champ and runner up and they both decline. I will make sure you know and I’ll post any opportunities as soon as I find out!

First day who would've thunk it

Peace, Kinley and Thomas didn’t break a 100 all year. Their not your typical 106-108 wrestlers cutting from a heavier weight. Hats off to them for wrestling kids naturally just bigger. 106 was full of some great talent this year.

First day who would've thunk it

No he’s not hurt. He just didn’t have the best tournament this year. He’s a great kid and wrestler and just was off. You won’t find him, his Dad or Coach Roth make any excuses. That kid will be back next year in contention for a State championship!! My hats off to a kid that year in and out is on top, coming up and saying he just didn’t wrestle good. Nothing but respect for Isham! Now time to go fishing buddy!!
  11. Thank you Jason and Brandon for all the time you put into these rankings!

    placed vs ranked

He also has Cornett doing it with him. So you’ll make a nice “Cornett” once he stays at DisneyWorld after Mason wins!!

    placed vs ranked

I’m predicting with Mason winning a state championship and heads off to wrestle at West Point, Brandon heads to DisneyWorld to celebrate in the princess castle after the win and never returns from Florida!!! So Duke joins Ranger and fills Cornett’s shoes and they cover the MS and HS for the next 4 years. After that, someone better step up or the rankings will be bye-bye!!!

    Weigh in

It was for Middle School. The one lb allowance is given when a team has a snow day and by the admin., not aloud to practice. It’s a rule that was adopted from the KHSAA.

    placed vs ranked

Talk about having your finger on the pulse all year and ranking these kids!! Thank you Chris Duke for taking the time and putting it together all year for us. It sure did create some talk on the forum for all of us who love wrestling. Congratulations to all the Placers this year. And to those who finally made it to the top of the podium, my hats off to you. What a way to catch the dream!!

I heard Noah Duke got his sling off today and is clear to wrestle 190lbs as a alternate!!! Can’t wait to see him on the mat hitting a cruncher!

    Ms State Duals

To add clarity, Ryle bumped 70,75,92,98,105,113,121. All for strategy and filling a few holes with 2 starters out for skin and 1 busted on weight and was sat. The line up was predetermined( not as defined by you as poor sportsmanship). And to even make your claim further from the truth, we bumped our 92 up to wrestle their 98, which actually is their 92 for state. So we put a kid with a #1 seed up against a kid that could have changed the draw our 92# with common opponents, if he lost. I know because he’s my son.( and no lasting impact for the fear of losing, per your analysis) But we did what was best for the team and put him up to 98. Secondly, to consider what we did in a dual tournament to the Youth President and coach calling the Dads in the stand Pus$!€s and stomping on the mat like he’s ready for a brawl is ludicrous!! Then after his 70# pinned ours, he grabs his crouch and says it again in front of the 2 girl wrestlers we have and the many fans in the stands. That to you is parallel?

    Middle School and Youth State

I’ve heard that it was being pushed back now to after the State Duals. Don’t quite understand why this also has changed but I’m sure there’s a vote out there somewhere we didn’t attend. I enjoyed the days when we’d get on right after the Regionals and battle who’s #1 out of each regional winner and then move up the weight classes. Now watch some teams forego the MS duals because of other teams going or not going.

    Middle School and Youth State

This is one of our biggest problems and was echoed last night while I spoke to several coaches about this horrible bi law about eliminating the opportunity for kids to compete on 2 different levels. We need to implement in 2018 Spring a new way to communicate and discuss these items and other items that are important to MS and Youth. This forum, for one is a valuable tool for coaches and wrestling fans to voice their opinion and share information. However, when some on the Board choose to stay away from the forum, then this line of communication becomes less effective. I truest believe we have a great group of coaches all working toward the best interest in the wrestler and the sport, but just have different ideas of how to benefit them. The forum ,by far, has provided the best opportunity for ideas to be shared, debated and finding the common ground.
