It could go back more than 20 years. I just wanted to see the list of wrestlers that went on to wrestle the next level. I am with Ryle and know that they've had a lot of success putting boys in college programs. Simon Kenton, Campbell County, Union County, Woodford were all the first that came to mind.

Raider wrestling is looking to bring 20 wrestlers from youth and Middle school. Are they still having JV high schoolers too? This is a great idea to raise money for one of our own. We as a wrestling community need to support our own. It has to be hard having your best friend laying in a hospital bed completely changed from what he was yesterday. Then to have to figure away to miss all that work, be there for your family and Pray to God you can make these new ends meet. Mike and his family have a long hard road ahead. The least we can do is dig deep and help. Could you imagine if everyone in our wrestling community gave $5 toward the Go Fund Me account, they'd have over $5000 in a day!! Yes you can wear as of right now the 2 of singlets. Compression shorts and compression shirt tucked in. Team name and logo/ colors are aloud just like singlet. I haven't heard if MS is going to immediately change now that the KHSAA adopted the new board shorts.

I'd like to get some feedback on where everyone stands on uniforms. I'd have to admit, I had no stance either way but after I received some great feedback from larger MS boys, my opinion has changed. Most of them said they'd be interested in wrestling but they chose not to wrestle due to singlets. And before you get fired up because we all wore singlets back in the day, remember this is the world they are living in. Now these are kids that have never wrestled, but with the new sublimated gear that is out there to go along with the traditional singlet, this minimum change to allow them to wear either a singlet or the type of gear they wore during FLO's P4P tournament, might be a great tool to reach more wrestlers. I know that this is up for vote at our next meeting this month, consider the pro's and con's. I know all of us would love to increase our numbers BUT, the most important thing is to provide a sport where kids of all sizes feel they have a sport they can be their best in. Wrestling has been and always will be a sport that does not discriminate.

Does anyone have info on Summitview have the pod tournament this year? I've heard mixed information that it was/was not happening. Tried to get ahold of Plantman and we've had no luck. Any info would be appreciated.

I believe the style of the "fight shorts" are board shorts from what I read. Now we can have some additional specs to go off of when working with uniform companies.

Kentucky has been chosen by the KFHSA to be the beta test state for FIGHT SHORTS AND COMPRESSION SHIRTS!! Just received the information today on this. Seems like the path that some of us were trying to take the Middle School and Youth uniform program is what the rest of the states are headed toward. Why is it that a select few "Na Sayers" and part time coaches can't be part of the solution when these ideas are proposed. We could have actually had these ordered and aligned with Middle School in Ohio and now the KHSAA!!

I'd hardly call compression shorts and compression shirts(2 of singlet) "THE WILD WILD WEST"!! If there is something positive that can help grow Kentucky Wrestling, that other states we've been attempting to follow, made the changes, then what's the issue. We have a clear cut answer to this years KSWA events. Maybe next year we can vote in the fight shorts when we have a defined llength and styles allowed. Keeping the integrity of the uniform appearance for the teams color, mascots, etc. should still be followed. Be creative, design a look that kids will want to wear. Stay positive with this concept and make it about growth.

As long as it's not a sanctioned KSWA event, you can wear the fight shorts and compression shirt. That's what the Bi Laws are going to say. The "2 piece singlet is the only other option dying post season(I.e. Districts, Regionals, State and State Duals. And for what it worth I agree with GOO. Let's win a battle and get more kids out. This gear can be wicked and promote our sport. Now the teams need to design some great gear and get your football and basketball players on the mat!

I've confirmed it with the president of the KSWA, the youth can wrestle in fight or compression shorts and compression shirts or shirt. The middle school can wrestle in the compression short and shirt combo that is also considered a 2 piece singlet or the traditional singlet. I'm sure once we see how successful Ohio and every other state that is adopted this new Fight short and compression shirt combo, that the closed minded braintrust that voted against it will either have move on or think to vote for it.

Tyler and I talked Wednesday and the vague wording on the singlet issue lead to some misunderstanding. The 2 piece compression singlet can be worn by MS and Youth at sanction events. No gym or fight shorts or loose shirts in MS. Youth can wear shorts and shirts. So it looks like based on the passing of the Youth vote Shorts and Shirts either fight shorts or gym shorts can now be worn. A great step in the right direction. Tyler is making sure the by law wording is correct. Thanks Coach Carr and RJS for your input.

That is the clarification I got from Tyler Baines today. Unfortunately Plantman didn't include all the information that was shared on forum as we were discussing it. Thank you coach Carr for sharing the information we look to get from the "board" which he actively promotes himself to be on this forum. Now we need the Bi Laws to reflect that.

Just so everyone understand what we're talking about with the material and the look.

Is anyone on this forum apart of the "board"? We are going to order these 2 piece compression gear for our wrestlers that want to wear them this season. I want clarification if this compression 2 piece is approved for MS to wear to sanction events. Ohio considers them safe for MS and youth. Our own State considers them safe for our youth that have less technique and more opportunities to "get hurt" by getting their arm stuck up in the shorts as Plantman says can happen. They are the same material as the singlets, so they have the same opportunity of collecting bacteria and toxic, harmful infections( also stated by Plantman and the experts medical staff). If cost is an issue for your specific team, offer for your parents to buy them if they want them. Do a fundraiser or look for donations! All kidding aside, this will help grow our sport and be one of the most beneficial things we can do for the girls and young men that want to wrestle or already do, but have a self conscious feeling about themselves. We can't just vote this away for the MS and pass it for the youth. We're a lot better than that!!!!

I like Naplesme attitude. It's about growing the middle school. We seem to keep missing opportunities to do this though. I like the Districts as well. We should be filling these brackets up with kids. and since we have coaches out there that vote against these items, our growth is slow!

So who is the board?

RJS it is never too late to do the right thing. We had a pretty deep forum debate with what type of compression 2 piece singlet we were looking to add. Tyler the President was even for it when we talked do I'm sure he could clarify to what the uniform was able to be. A bunch of adults sit around and make suggestions in the spring. Then it sits idle through the summer and fall as families do their thing. Then as we come close to season information is put out there for all to see. I think we should start by putting out suggestions on this forum and then all that care to debate can share their thoughts. Then we vote at the MS/ Youth State weekend. Have the ballots already prepared and fill it out and turn it in. It could be when we do weigh ins for no more than a half hour over a few drinks. All the debating would be done throughout the season and off season and almost everyone has a computer or access to the forum. This decision needs to be reversed or we need more details to what's allowed and not allowed. A lot of compression shorts are going to be a problem for the girls and boys to wear this year! And great point by Raider Coach. How was it decided about the type of shorts and shirts the youth are going to wear. It was proposed the same way!!!!

Just an FYI, since some of us are trying to grow this sport and not just keep status quo Plantman, Northern Ohio, which is considered some of the best youth and MS wrestling in the United States just PASSED the 2 piece uniform for their MS and youth!! Can someone besides Plantman, tell us why they voted against this? Great Job to the Ohio wrestling coaches for continuing to grow the sport of wrestling in Ohio!!

Somehow my post seemed to disappear so I'll post it again. Can the coaches that decided to vote against the MS using these uniforms in conjunction with the singlets please share with this forum your thought process. Maybe there is something we are missing to why this isn't a great alternative to girls and young men that are uncomfortable wearing a singlet to have this option available to them. I'm sure with all the positive responses that a thread that I started on this forum received by some of the coaches that do so much with Kentucky wrestling all year, would like to hear the reasoning to why this got voted down. And as Adam stated, their are coaches that voted for the youth to be able to chose between the 2 but not MS. How is that going to work for the girls that wear these sublimated shirts under their singlets now that there's a rule against wearing this shirt? Please tell me how this vote improved our numbers and helped promote our sport?

Can someone please share with us the results and changes to Middle School and Youth this year from the fall meeting.
