Also wanted to thank Coach Jon Carr for his continued assistance with Kentucky USA wrestling and all the info to make sure we are ready for Danville in a couple weeks!

    Team Kentucky Middle School

It's taken the whole day and some wheeling and dealing but we now have a AWESOME team to compete in Danville Illinois at the National Duals. I can't Thank Coach Carr enough for spending most the day on the phone or texting with me to get it wrapped up with the gear and reaching out to other teams. After a call to Tyler, KSWA stepped up and donated money toward reducing the cost for the wrestlers gear. Thank you Tyler Baines for your help with this. Thanks to all the parents reaching out to other kids in their program and bringing on these hammers!! Sill have room for a 140 or 150. Thomas Boone said he'll go either weight for us!

This team is shaping up nicely. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to wrestle and the parents for supporting Kentucky Wrestling. I am working on blocking rooms for the hotel today. Being such a short notice, most hotels with 16 vacant rooms are not available. BUT I will find a nice one with a indoor pool and hot breakfast!! Message me at 859-393-3983 if you are interested in filling one of the open spots or you can email me at tlc.darrenthomas@gmail.com Thanks again, Coach Darren Thomas Ryle Raider Wrestling

Still have Weights open for this Team. Please let us know if you would like to compete for Team Kentucky. Feel free to email me at tlc.darrenthomas@gmail.com with any questions. It would be a shame to not be able to take a team,or a full team, with all the talent Kentucky has.

Coach Carr is trying to find out who is interested in competing with Team Kentucky. F their is not enough response to this thread, there's a good chance we won't have one team. Coach Carr, can you provide the cost that families encured last year. Maybe this will help shed some light on cost and what they can expect. Thanks for your help Coach Carr.

Cole Thomas 80lb. said he'd be interested in going and whichever team he ends up on I'd be glad to Coach. I've heard some may be going to Virginia Beach. It would be great for the ones not available to also post on here so we can gauge the interest.

    STATE TOURNEY UPDATES

Flat out one of the best overall tournaments Kentucky has had. Congratulations to Union County on their team championship. The Irvin's are a class act and are showing what it takes to be on top! Joey Roberts is a beast from Woodford dominating performance. Casey Cornett looked as impressive as ATM did his senior year. He's ready for his next level at West Point. Ryan Moore looked like a man on a mission to his 1st State Championship. Bryce Sheffer looked like as equal the MOW and will be missed. And a special shout out to Noah Duke on being a true 7th grader, from Kentucky placing 5th in the middle weights. Congratulations to all the state placers this year! You put on a great show. THANK YOU!!

    Future 5 timers ?

That makes about as much sense as giving out participation ribbons. Not all kids are 113 as freshman or sophomores. So let's just eliminate them. Pound for pound some of the most fun matches to watch are lower weights.

    Mr and Mrs Tyler Baines

I personally would like to thank Tyler, his wife and the River City team for the great weekend of wrestling at Broadbent Arena. The endless time that you've spent preparing for this weekend and the hours and effort over the last 3 days gave us our biggest weekend tournament. After spending almost 30 hours there myself working and coaching, I watched them pulled in 4 directions non stop all 3 days to make this weekend a success. Thanks to all the teams that had their volunteers show up and for all the parents and wrestlers that were patient through our 1st ran Track wrestling youth tournament. We're moving in the right direction. With growth comes growing pains. With proper leadership and a strong wrestling community we can make this even better FOR THE KIDS in 2018.

I like yelling at you any chance I get. You do a great job and I consider you a good friend! Thanks for the table work all day. You guys stepped up. Now get more Dads to sit in the corner and scream at Kenny Lonkard and Campbell County Tom!

    2018 youth state wrestling tournament

Those are some great ideas. And I like the 2 day pass to get more fans in the seats for MS. Advance tickets would allow you the option to buy for both and see the immediate discount. Creating an experience for the kids is what it all about. I will share this at the next meeting. Thank you for the positive feedback.

    Mr and Mrs Tyler Baines

Thank you Roll Tide. My "crew" family and I enjoy doing it and helping Kentucky Wrestling grow and be the best experience it can be. Although Paige and Marisa's hands are still cramped filling out all the brackets!! We will be there again next year!

    2018 youth state wrestling tournament

I do not disagree at all with what your saying. We continue to get closer to making this thing run close to perfect. The introduction of Track did take some time this year. It was a necessary change. The absolute #1 thing we need to have next year is more parent participation. I can tell you for 100% certainty, there was 2 volunteers this year from one of our biggest teams . They have some amazing parents that have kids in the youth program, that if asked and set up ahead of time would help, but they were not asked to volunteer by our new head coach and that was a huge break down by our club and the KSWA telling these teams they need to man the tablesvand the clubs stepping up and asking " what do you need from us" We are the same club that manned 10 tables, ran the head table and set up and tore down at the horse park and Frankfort for years. Exactly what River City is doing now. We are one of the largest clubs in the state and have a responsibility to help on tables. So we need to create a communication next year at the beginning of Janurary to make sure all teams have enough table workers for the size of their programs and also enough coaches to man the corner. I like the 4/1 ratio wrestler/coach.

    KSWA Youth State Tournament weigh-ins

Thank you for working the table and being open to learning how you can help promote Kentucky Wrestling. This is the biggest problem we have is table workers. There are several of us that will help answer questions as they come up but we need people in those seats willing to do a little more than being a spectator. Some of our sons have moved up to MS and HS but we come in for the day to help run the event so that other wrestlers get to enjoy what our kids did. And I'm still working on a way to get the face offs back into the youth tournament. Continued Growth and Track wrestling are requiring the time for now.
