  1. Hate to hear Hamilton may have gotten injured. Hopefully just a tweak at the worst. Too good of a kid to keep down. I pray for a speedy recovery.

Good conversation nkawtg135. I respect your position as well. Maybe we (as a state) will come up with a good compromise one day. Good luck to u and yours this year.

Once again nkawtg135, I'm going to have to disagree. Wrestling is a sport of opportunity based on talent, not age, body type, etc. If I have an 8th grader beat a senior in a wrestle off, the 8th grader is my varsity guy. In the argument of fairness, isn't that most fair? Putting out the best kid in each weight class. Why should an "uber-talented 8th grader" have an opportunity taken away because there is an older late bloomer who thinks he/she deserves the opportunity because of their age. That doesn't sound fair to me. P.S. If we take middle school kids out of high school wrestling, we will be depleating the sport that we are trying to grow.
  6. Just looked at the results, WOW! What a tournament! Congrats to St. X. Not sure if more impressed with Stephen's tech in the finals or Lampe's pin over Jones in the finals. Either way, outstanding job guys. Congrats to all who competed!
  7. Any updates, exciting match ups, etc.?

Another example of a top level kid kid wrestling up, that's great!! Best of luck to Jared this weekend!

Nkawtg135, I understand your point of view, but, how can a middle school kid that has reached his full potential on his level not be allowed to wrestle up. In my opinion, your college student arguement is invalid. We are talking about moving up, not down. There have been plenty of 8th graders step up and do very well. Some examples, Joe Carr Jr., Coty Lewis, Harrison Courtney, Josh Johnson, Mark Hall, Kevin Cooper, etc. We can't hold elite guys like this back. Just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Also, can't forget Brock Ervin.

I hope someone accidentally mixed the names up. Hard to believe Kevin would lose in the first round, much less get teched.
  12. Mpire, as for the post where I misspelled your last name, it was an honest mistake. As far as the thread that we got shut down, it got out of control. I only originally had the intent of having a little fun with the dream KY match up this year between Kevin and Stephen. It was only after I felt disrespected that I started the pot stirring. I want to offer a true apology for saying some of the things I said. It's something that shouldn't have happend. Let's just get past it. I've got nothing but respect for your kids. They obviously have a great work ethic. I wish them the best. Good luck at the Rumble this weekend, sounds like a stacked tournament.

Ok, if I need to throw my vote out there, Ranger for prez, 2013!!! Sorry Raider, but u closed the poles too early.

    Youth Holiday Classic - 12/16/12

Raidercoach, just went back and read previous posts a little closer. As the ESPN segment says, " C'MON MAN!" Listen, I can't even pin point who u are, but we all probably have wins/losses to other coaches on here. I can go back and pick at coaches I whooped, but what good is that? It's obvious that u and Ranger are on 2 different pages, but does anyone really remember or care what happend back in the day? I'm not in the great war of the Northern KY schools, but its obvious to the rest of the state that all of u guys (in NKY) are doing it, and doing it very effectively. Let's just ALL work together to figure out the best avenue for our kids. Ranger, I've got nothing but mad respect for you and your middle school program. I'm glad that Kentucky has an ambassador of the sport like you. You don't know who I am by my screen name, but you know who I am. You and I have been on the opposite side of issues and opposing Coaches. At the end of the day, wrestling in Kentucky is better off because of the contributions that u have made. That being said, I'm still going to strive to catch up to you and your program again, then try to beat you. Lol! As a wise man once said, don't mistake my kindness for weakness.
  15. Look like a hell of a tournament. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Between the Meyer kids and Woodfords new big 3, should be fun. Typo- Myers. Sorry.

    Youth Holiday Classic - 12/16/12

I appreciate the fact that no matter what side of the fence anyone is on, the idea of promoting the growth of the sport is the main agenda. Kentucky has grown leaps and bounds since my day of competing (although I think my generation had a little harder work ethic at times). Lol! Just a little joke parents, don't string me up. Anyway, I believe we all want what is best for the sport, and each side will have to give a little. These are growing pains. These are good problems to have. I believe that before long, we will have to make the youth regional tournament a true qualifying tournament for State. At some point it will just get to big and disorganized for us to continue the same old format. Once again, if we work together, we will achieve our goal of growing the greatest of all sports....WRESTLING!!

    Youth Holiday Classic - 12/16/12

On every level of wrestling, except youth, we weigh in, and have weight classes. Seems a little silly that we wouldn't hold our youth to the same standard. What's next? The YMCA method of no losers, we are all winners, everyone gets a trophy. Horse crap!

    New State Duals Format

I'll be quick. I disagree with a BIG SCHOOL/small school State Duals. If someone wants to host an all A Duals Tournament, that's fine. GOO, I have to say, most of the time I AGREE with you, but I'll have to respectfully disagree this time. State Duals has always been the tournament I look forward to most. Not only is this a test of our wrestlers' abilities, it is also a test of our coaches skill. If a coach doesn't know how to "play the game" his team won't have a shot. This is where we see the best of a program, from all sides. Just my opinion though.

    Oldham County Duals - 12/1/2012

If the way the teams are listed is the way the pools are set....it seems a little unbalanced. Having Larue and Woodford in the same pool is ridiculous. SK and Franklin in the same pool seems silly too. IMHO... I would swap Woodford and Jefferson, then swap North Oldham and Franklin. This would produce much more balanced pools. Don't know if this is a list of teams, or the pools. Hopefully for the spectators, its just a list of teams.
