    Father Son state champion combo.

I was unaware of that Coach Diaz. I knew Dean was a butt kicker, had know idea that his Dad was too. Good info man. By the way, I hope all is well. I know I might not see as much of you this year, but hopefully we will cross paths along the way. Take care David.

Top 10 Best Kentucky Wrestlers from the past 5 years

Hall was exceptional for a middle school kid, but he wasn't a Nathan Boston. Boston came here already a 2x finalist and 1x State Champ. He had already been to the finals at Flo his freshman year. Then to move here and accomplish an untouched, undefeated, (five pins at State)State Championship season, then go represent his state (KY) at Flo and become a National Champ...then further more, he signed to wrestle for an elite college program (Iowa State). Not sure what more we can ask from him to represent KY. He didn't move here to be a "one and done". He will graduate in KY, guaranteed. So I guess my answer would be yes, his one dominate year since moving to KY impresses me more than some of the others that have been dominate for multiple years. GOO, I know that you only follow KY wrestling, but his accomplishments on a National level can't be ignored.

Top 10 Best Kentucky Wrestlers from the past 5 years

With respect to GOO and FCHS, how can Boston not be considered KY's #1 wrestler. True, he is a transfer (although born here I think), but he is here now. Just like ATM. Here is my argument, name one wrestler from KY to ever be a Flo National Champion. You can't, I can, his name is Nathan Boston. The kid is phenomenal. His roots are in KY, once again, just like ATM. I'd be willing to bet that one day there will be a thread talking about KY's most decorated collegiate wrestler, and Nathan Boston's name will be at the top of the list.

    Bluegrass games results ?

Hey possumdaddy, tell your son thanks for letting an "old man" live a dream and compete one last time. I'm sore as hell, but wouldn't trade it nothing. Tell him thanks for not roughing me up too bad, even though YOU tried to kill me with the clock!! Lol! Seriously, I had a blast. Thanks again. Harrison is a class act.

    State Champ Dual - 2009 vs. 1989

Perfect summarization for the Wiard vs Courtney match. Wiard was one tough individual. Came from a good wrestling family. Can't deny Courtney though, he was the man. Would have been a good one to watch.

    Carr Wrestling Academy is

No doubt the place to be. If you are serious about reaching your true potential and training to be a champion, this is the place you need to checkout. If you have never experienced a "Carr" practice, you are on for an experience. Truly top notch training.

    Carr Wrestling Academy is

Had a great room last night. Nice facility, great partners, and both Coach Carr and Coach Carr Jr., need I say more? If you live anywhere in central KY., you need to checkout the CWA.

    Coaching

After a little digging, I see where you have posted on many threads throughout the nation about coaching wrestling. MN., FL., CA., KY., WV., etc. Also, why are you still asking about coaching positions? Weren't you hired at Southridge High School in Minnesota back in May?

    P4P and Grade Level Ranking

Got to admit, any of the combinations of those match ups would be awesome. Imagine a State semi final of Fausz vs Ervin and Boston vs Blackwell. I'd take Ervin and Boston to advance. Then in the finals, after its all said and done, my gut says Boston. Just my opinion. Any of the four could win it. Most likely, we won't see all 4 in the same weight class. It would be fun though. I'd love to hear some other thoughts, just for fun.

    FloNationals

Let me tell everyone something about Nathan Boston. He is (IMO) the most complete wrestler that I have ever had the chance to work with. Don't get me wrong, KY is really starting to have some truly elite wrestlers, but Nathan seems to already be ready for the next level. His work on his feet, his scrambles, his top and bottom work is unbelievable. Nathan is a pure joy to work with and watch. This isn't a knock on anyone, just an inside perspective. The Monday after State, he and Tevon Clay, Wyatt Courtney, and both Coach Carrs were back to work. Congratulations Nathan. You truly out worked your opponents.
  17. Congrats to all of the KY guys!! Way to go ATM!

    FloNationals

Lampe placed 8th, Cooper is going for 3rd, and Nathan Boston is in the Flo National finals for a 2nd time. Very impressive!! Good luck Nathan and great job by all the KY guys!

    USA Wrestling Coaches Card‏ Theme

I'm sorry, but this bothers me. I understand having the coaches card, sort of..... but training? Seriously? I will have to say, with everything that a coach has to do these days, sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. First it was the weight assessments, then trackwrestling, now with USA and KWCA there are rather large fees. And all for what? At the end of the day it is all a machine to make money. Everybody wants to host tournaments and have a thousand kids wrestle, why? It's not about the growth, its about the money. I have never let money be a reason for a kid not to wrestle. I have always supplimented whatever was needed. Everyone wants to "fix" things and make it better. It's not better, none of it. It's all a big pain in the ass. Maybe its time for this old dog to hang it up. Too many changes and not enough money to keep up. This isn't anything personal with anyone, just a frustraded coach letting off steam.

After the 1st takedown, I thought Taylor had it. Dake is a true Champion. Congrats Kyle.

    New Finals Format?

Hey, it might be fun if we wrestled the State Tournament in November. That way people don't have to wait til the end of the season. What agreat idea!! We could say the heck with weight classes, who needs them, right? Why hire refs, they cost too much, we can have parents as refs. Oh, I know, we don't need to use mats either, they are pain anyway. Maybe we could incorporate a ball in our sport, that would be cool. As a matter of fact, let's not even call it wrestling. The Olympics don't need it anymore, why do we? I love thinking outside the box.
  23. I'll weigh in on this topic LOL! It's wrestling, there are factors outside of every coaches control. In my opinion, wrestling is supposed to have set weight classes. It is also my opinion that no matter what you do, kids are going to cut weight. A kid in tune with what's going on will figure out that the high school kid he looks up to cuts weight, so should he. Is what it is. My son has wrestled for 6 years. I let him make some of his own decsions. If he wants to cut 3-4 pounds and miss a dinner on Friday night, that's up to him. Blast me if you want, just telling the truth, which a lot of people on here have a hard time doing. Oooops, that last statement was an opinion, not a fact. Wink wink.

    New Finals Format?

Not to be a debbie downer, but what's wrong with keeping the finals the same. We change all the time, and I understand change is needed from time to time, but this seems to be to a bit much. To me, there are certain traditions that you just don't mess with, and the order of the finals is one of them. Heck, I still don't like having to have a random draw at duals, but I'll give a little on that one. You want people to stick around for the upper weights, teach them how to wrestle. I saw a 220 yesterday that moved like a much smaller wrestler. He was so quick and strong. Really a treat to watch. I gurantee if more upper weights would learn to wrestle like that, you wouldn't have to worry about people leaving. I hope the KHSAA keeps it the way it is. I'd back them on it.

    Woodford County Open Mats

Don King has taken over as the promoter. This will now be a "pay per view" event. Lol.
