  1. Would all of the wrestlers that are interested in wrestling in Fargo please contact me. I am trying to get the team established so we know how much gear we are going to need to have made.

I will not be answering any responses or questions on open forum! Nor will I be taking team members on open forum!

If you wish to be on the team you will need to contact me personally by phone, text, email, or pm.

Here is a link to the tournament webpage.

Remember you are required to have wrestled our state tournament, or Brute scholastic showcase this past weekend!!

Exceptions to this rule will be made on a case by case basis.

    Talk to you soon.

  2. Would all of the wrestlers that are wrestling in the Brute Showcase, and planning on going to Fargo please contact me by pm or email so I can get an idea of the numbers we are looking at for this years team. Please list cadet or junior.

    Thank You

  3. Yes regional placement does help your seeding. The reason for requiring regional participation is that most of the kids that I see going, will not be at the state tournament(National Duals). And our state does not have many freestyle/greco tournaments. And I would like to have a lot more competitive mat time than in the past, especially in the event that we are able to put together a dual teem and go to Junior Duals.

I would also recommend that we go to southeast regional. As things progress I will have more info.

  4. In order to be eligible for the  Freestyle & Greco Roman National Team you will be required to attend the Kentucky  Freestyle & Greco Roman state tournament!!

The wrestlers that are participating in the Brute Scholastic Showcase will be granted pardon to this requirement!! If you are not there you better be at Fern Creek High School!!

However all Fargo participnats on the National team will be required to participate at Central Regionals.

    More info will follow.

All of my contact info is listed on my profile if you have any questions. You can also PM me.

  5. This years Asics/Vaughn Junior & Cadet Nationals Championships in Fargo North Dakota, Will be held July 12-20.

Any competitor wishing to be on the Kentucky National Team will be required to participate at the Kentucky FS/GR State tournament on 4/13 (tentative date) at Fern Creek High School. The teams will be picked from this competition. The only other way to qualify for this tournament is thru a regional qualifier. I plan on taking the team picked from the state tournament to the Great Lakes regional as well. Hopefully we can hit some other tournaments as well.

If there are any changes I or Coach Smith will post it here.

If you have any questions, you can send me a pm or email. 126dgb@gmail.com

You can also just ask on here if you wish. Start making plans now.

    Thank You for your support.

  6. This is a very big step in the right direction for Kentucky wrestling. It took a lot of work to get Bob Preusse to let Kentucky competitors back in the Ironman. I am excited about the opportunity these boys have, and hope that more of our kids will take this challenge.

On a seeding note, there is very specific criteria in place. State placement is the third criteria. It is very state sensitive, and only state champions from our state will be allowed to compete unless you have freestyle placement in Fargo only, with very heavy emphasis on the Junior division. There is also a head to head variable (past year) that counts. Unfortunately all of the studs Brock has whipped are at different weights, or not at the Ironman.

  7. CoachC - you need to make sure you are in touch with the right folks on the schoolboy team. Trust me, those guys will be even more difficult to round up if you don't get to the MS coaches early, like in season. And remember the MS season ends at the beginning of February. My plan was to just make this a part of Team KY and include the same kids (we invited the top 4 at each weight this year).

I am hoping that someone like yourself will be one of the right folks. Top 4 sounds good, just want to have a freestyle/greco state for competition and to familiarize the kids that do not get to see it. Plus it may attract the kid that is a monster in greco or freestyle that may not be the best at folkstyle. Not to mention revenue.

  8. We are looking at next years schedule now. We are going to try to do a schoolboy and below tournament also. I plan to pick the team from the state tournament results. if all goes well maybe we could attend national duals. There is also a national tournament for schoolboy own for those who qualify.

Also looking at a tri state or regional open tournament. Checking in to new awards to get the kids excited.

The national tournament at your age level MUST be qualified for. You will have to attend the state tournament. You can also qualify as a regional qualifier.

The more participation we have in these tournaments the better it is for the state.

  9. That is not a quailifying tournament.

Freestyle/Greco state tournament, Central regionals or any of the regional tournaments, or FILA nationals. If you would have simply made contact you would have been given the info. My phone # and email address are listed on this very site. You can't just tell everyone it is free because in the end it may not be. If we would have had a full team than the costs would have been higher for a very large number of reasons. This was not a secret that we were keeping.

And in the case of past Fargo particapants, I made every effort to contact them at the earliest time I could have possibly done so.

  10. There are a lot of good reasons to not try to do something different. But wrestling is a tough sport, so the kids that are doing it for the third or fourth year you already know are tough enough to handle it and love the sport. So if everyone would not concentrate so much on negative things that cause us to not wrestle freestyle or greco and just maybe think of one possible solution that would help develop this style in your club or school maybe we could get more participation.

USA Wrestling wants Kentucky competing with larger numbers. We are going to put together some new ideas to help get participation at the regional and national level up in all three styles. I think it would really be great to see everyone at least try to build this. We don't have very good participation at the regional or national level in folkstyle either.

College coaches want to see these kids when they are in Fargo, AA or 2 and out. They like the dedication. They don't look at how you wrestle that style so much as how you compete!!

Kentucky is loaded with talent, we just need to showcase it!!

  11. You can watch live matches on mat 1-18 on themat.tv

Win loss and score results at trackwrestling.com they also have the dashboard that will tell you who is wrestling on what mat.

Junior Greco Roman starts at 10:00 eastern time tomorrow morning.

Sean Fausz went 2-2 today. Sean wrestled tough and looked very good. There are just a bunch of tough guys to get thru to get on the podium.

    Flo is also archiving matches.

  12. I am excited about our chances in Fargo this year. Team members are as follows

    Cadet Greco Roman

    Sean Fausz 126lbs.

    Cadet Freestyle

    Sean Fausz 126lbs.

    Junior Greco Roman

    Joey Parrott 126lbs.

    Kevin Cooper 152lbs.

    Hiero Chamblee 170lbs.

    Junior Freestyle

    Joey Parrott 126lbs.

    Jayce Carr 132lbs.

    Kevin Cooper 152lbs.

    Hiero Chamblee 170lbs.

    John Fahy 138-145lbs. possibly.

I was really hoping the rest of our top Freestyle/Greco kids and State Champions would have at least shown some interest. But Im happy with who is going. Thanks to everyone who supports Ky/USA wrestling.
