Got word this morning that this has been canceled. Hate to see that, I was looking forward to it. The officials run a great tournament. -

It is with great disappointment, we have had to make the tough decision to postpone the Girls state wrestling championships. I did not want to make a call too early, but also cant wait any longer at this point. The weather situation is not great in Lexington, but much worse in other parts of Kentucky. After working with several coaches from across the state and khsaa, we have decided the best day to postpone to is Presidents Day, Monday February 21st. We will hold it at Harrison Co Middle School. While this day may not be optimal, we felt it was the best option. It was very important to us that we did not cancel and we give these girls an opportunity to win a state title both individually and as a team. I truly apologize for the inconvenience and it breaks my heart to have to move the date and venue. Good luck to all the rest of the season, an updated flier is attached. Scotty Teater KYWCA President

That time schedule has been changed. Heres new schedule

2022 State First Round Time Schedule (Great Crossing) _ Kentucky High School Athletic Association.pdf

Because the Khsaa does not want to decrease the state entries from 32 to 16. Semi state is technically "state", so it gives 32 kids opportunity to qualify.

You have the whole time to get weighed in

Dropping weight classes cause your scared!
coachteater replied to Mercury's topic in High School Wrestling
So how about moving up to avoid a certain kid? Are you scared and not a true champion? There's still tons of variables and you still have to wrestle the matches. moving weights is a calculated decision that is different for every kid, there's no one right way to do it and no guarantees -

As everyone knows, we have a bad forecast for this weekend and it puts girls state in jeopardy. Myself, my a.d., fcps, and other coaches are all working together to provide a backup plan if we are unable to go as planned Saturday. Please be patient, we are monitoring the situation and will have information out as soon as we know. I do not want to put any ideas of backup plans out as of yet, I do not want to add to any confusion. I will update here, Instagram(thekywca), facebook(Kentucky wrestling coaches association- kywca), twitter(thekywca), as well as email all of the coaches in the tournament and through the listserv. We are going to do everything possible to get these 228 girls from 65 teams across the state the opportunity to wrestle for a state title
