What I am saying is the split has happened, so to keep the integrity of having two champs, the small school need to stay with there group. If not you end up with a small school champ that would have finished 2 or 3rd. That takes away from the small schools prestige of winning a title if the true small school champ wrestled with big schools. The small school champ would have no credibility then. There is still bragging rites to winning. You don't see football teams like Louisville Central wanting to bump up to play Trinity for state. They are champions of there school size, and its prestigious. You don't devalue it because they didn't play "big" schools

From the start of the talks about splitting the duals, it has always been about promotion of growth for wrestling in Kentucky. And wouldn't letting small schools bump up defeat your purpose? You say its less meaningful now cause larue and union can't wrestle up to big school. But would it not make the small school title mean less for whoever wins it, if they are not in it? I would like to see an at large, like they use to do in football. Have a small school winner and a big school winner, then they wrestle for at large title

Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2012/2013 - November 22

He is starting at 113 is the word I got. Woodford will be tough at the lower weights. That many good kids around the same weight, makes for a good wrestling room. -

Suprised not seeing tucker hurst on there at 106 or 113 for woodford. That kids really tough and I know he is already at 106. I see him being a placer at either weight this yr. -
Is big brother were they combine high school and middle? If so, how did the teams finish in that?

@ bryan station. 1.Campbell co. A 2. Campbell co. B 3. Anderson co. Looked like a lot of teams missing kids from the holiday. Also know a few missed weight, I'm guessing too much turkey I'm not a fan of wrestling this weekend, but it is was it is. Good job to Bryan Station. Went smooth and got out early.

Wondered how long it would take for this to pop up. I have heard the same things, and I just hope we don't have to make it the main topic to talk about for the whole season. Where ever your from or who ever you wrestle for, good luck and can't wait to start the season.

Freestyle/GR wrestling. Why no interest in KY?
coachteater replied to grappler-of-old's topic in 2012 Season
One reason I don't think we see a ton of interest is those styles are many coaches simply do not know enough about it, myself included. Kentucky has never been a free style/greco state, so now that you are getting coaches coming up from within Kentucky, you just don't see it. You have had the occasional coach from out of state or program that pushes it, but no where near the number to make it successful. Here in Kentucky we are still working hard to build folkstyle and get numbers up. Once we get greater numbers and get to to higher level nationally in folkstyle, I think the other will start to grow. It will just be a matter of time before it builds. -

Sounds like a great deal and will try to send some kids, but bgsg cadet- open is that sat. It's good to see some guys putting things like this together though. Makes ky kids much better. -
What if they built in a dual for the champion of both big and small school, then you have an at large champion. I know many years ago they did this in football.

We just use it as an addition to the program, ment to help and move the program forward. If you have tools, use them, but responsibly. We still use really e mail, have meetings in person, and do some things the old fashioned way. I guess its good to have good mix.
