Brackets are up, who you got! The talent level has really grown over 5 years. This year you'll see girls that could have been state champions a few years ago, but not place this weekend. Future looks very bright for girls wrestling in Kentucky

Congratulations to our 3 champions 1A -Union Co 2A - Paducah Tilghman 3A - Great Crossing As the President of the coaches association, we would like to ask how the coaches and fans felt about the move to 3 divisions. I was at 1A and felt like it was a great day. Some young new teams that were ecited to be there. A couple teams that have been around a seldom if ever made it there, they seemed to have great energy from their teams and happy to be there. Also a quick day and Nelson Co was an amazing host. From what I heard in the other ones, much of the same. Lots of great duals. Teams excited to get there and place. And great hosts in Taylor Co and Atherton. Would love to have feedback to make it the best events we can

Just to clarify, those options were looked at. What we went with is just what we felt was the best option.

So I will say that it was my idea to use these brackets. With the numbers and situation, I felt this was the best option. That being said, I never try to make any decision alone or without options. I reached out to several coaches and presented multiple options. Of those options, it was felt this was the best way to procede. From day one with girls wrestling we have had a main goal or building numbers and getting sanctioned. We have built the numbers and barring any unforeseen circumstances, it will be sanctioned at the next boc meeting. We also have pushed to add to the kywca membership and encourage all coaches at all levels to not just join, but participate and engage with coaches and bring ideas to the table to help advance our sport in Kentucky. We have also expanded to two section reps from one. We did this so more coaches felt they had a voice and interact. From a complete coaches contact list, to social media, to clinics, and meetings, we are doing all we can to make sure everyone has a voice. We never want anyone to feel as if they cant present an idea or to feel that things are decided by any one person. Good luck to every wrestler this weekend and every coach. I truly hope that all the amazing things happening with wrestling in Kentucky are not continuously over shadowed by negativity and that the good far outweighs the bad in the overall scheme of it all. KENTUCKY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS COACHES! I just sent an email with information about inputting seeding criteria, head to head wins, and our seed meeting we will have Wednesday night. Please look for that information, fill out all thecriteia, and watch for zoom link to be sent.

Registration is complete! We have 270 girls from 81 teams that will be competing next Saturday at Girls state. Coaches will be sent info to enter head to head today, and a zoom meeting will be held Wednesday to discuss seeding. That will all be sent to coaches, so please be on the lookout.

You said 415, that is number weight assessed not registered. You make it sound bad 27%get medals, am i hearing this correct? Because if you you have a full 16 man bracketed tournament and place 4, thats 25% Heres the deal, there are tons of great coaches out there who have come together to do everything we can for this grow, and it has. No matter what we do, it seems someone wants to know better and complain about things. But funny those individuals never seem to add positive input during the process. Based off the numbers from past, even letting only 1 enter, we expect 300 wrestlers in this years tournament. Thats almost 100 more than last year. Also placing 6 with 300 weight assessed last year put it at 26% of girls getting a medal, the same percentage that we have this year according to your math. The numbers have all been gathered, shared , talked about, and decisions were made by many coaches to procede in this way.

So did a quick look over. Last I checked there was 416 girls weight assessed. 23 are in region 5. Only 5%

Unfortunately during both seed meetings a mistake was made in placement of 2nd place finishers. The pools have been redrawn and are accurate now. I apologize and take responsibility for this mistake. We will be taking steps to update bylaws and have all procedures in writing so this doesnt happen in the future. Again, I apologize. Scotty Teater Kywca President
