  1. Those schools have traveled for years. What does it hurt to give them a chance? If there was a school in any other part of the state that was willing to host we would take it there as well. We are trying to be fair. This was voted on by the representatives selected to represent each region. This was not a one or two person decision. And while I'm at it, what does this have to do with teams not attending Sectionals. The sectionals were put together geographically. If it sounds like I am frustrated...it is because I am. The coaches wanted this split yet teams don't show up to their own sectional. Trying to get teams to fill spots is a nightmare. IF it was up to me and me only....... we would go back to the regional qualifiers and one class. But it is not up to me and as the President I will take what was voted on and make the best event I can.

  2. After reading Mike Barrens Blog post about the mats, I have attached a picture that will help explain what I interpret it to be.

The setup I used at Male is ok in that I have five feet between the wrestling circles.

The area I need to address with my AD is that I do not have enough room from the edge of the circle to the wall. I only have about five feet and need to have about 10 feet for safety.

    I hope this helps some.

  3. I sent Mike Barren an email with the above picture. His response is that it is now illegal to have that set up. Mats need be 10 feet apart. I asked if is that is from circle to circle or edge to edge. He said he would clarify with Julian Tackett and email all coaches.

  4. This will change the way tournaments are set up. For example, no more taking the extra pieces off of dollamur or ez flex mats and just having the circle bump up against other mats. An example of what cannot happen anymore is below and this was in my gym.
