The lighting is absolutely horrible if you are tryinging to take any pictures. The KHSAA photographer with the strobe lighting in the ceiling is the only one getting any decent pictures and they still aren't as good as they could be. I've shot pictures in a lot of arenas/gyms etc. and the lighting set-up for the finals is handsdown the worst I've ever shot in.

Really surprised that they still insist on making the finals so dark. Turning the house lights off is fine but just that middle strip of lights over the center mat is really kind of silly. Having the arena that dark adds nothing. I thought last year was a mistake and then they go and do it again. Having the ability to run 6 mats is a nice thing and there is plenty of parking but after that, I see no advantages. The building is basically a fancy barn.

My biggest question is why in the world was the arena so dark for the finals? They turned the lights down for the introdctions and they never came back on? The one strip of lights made it hard to see very good. I like the floor size, location, parking of the arena. $15 is a little steep but at least it was just a two day event.
