Pretty sure about your assessment of Meiman, Mpire. He's a freshman... good things will surely happen for him down the road but until he gets his head out of his rear end and learns how to be a sportsman, his hs wrestling career could be CUT quite short. Who knows what influences the kind of behavior he displayed but I hope he learned a lesson this weekend. I like to root for every kid but I'll never root for a jerk. He has something to prove now. I'm not even interested in him at this point. Once again, kudos to Turner for coming from back his hyper-extended knee... that's a painful injury... he came out strong against Jones and beat him by a tech fall. Jones is a sleeper in this region, hasn't been paid much attention... but if that kid is healthy, he will absolutely have a ticket to State. I believe it was WrestlinGuru who said Jones couldn't beat anyone in this region. He's currently 20-2, losing only to Boynkin from Eastern at the Derby Classic final and Turner.

There's been no mention of Meiman (sp? Ryle 170) on this thread. He was expected to do quite well but instead got hot-headed and threw Turner into the stands. Fortunately, the officials had the good sense to eliminate him from the tournament. If he hasn't been suspended by his coaches, I certainly hope the NKAC takes further action. His behavior reflected so poorly not only upon himself, but upon the whole Ryle team. Bad move, bad mistake...mostly I chalk it up to immaturity... but right now, a kid like that should not be welcome to participate. Congratulations to Turner for taking it!!. Congratulations to Jones for being grossly underestimated and performing quite well in spite of, apparently, being quite ill.

Boone County has a small team.... too bad there's so little interest. They have some contenders though. At the Mustang Tourney in North Oldham this week, there were 3 great accomplishments: Braden Jones finished 2nd (Sophomore) Sam Steele finished 3rd (Junior) Brent Taylor finished 5th (Junior)
  4. Ok.... what should I call you then? Josh or Josh_? You seem to be a tad bit sensitive. Brokaw, Esiason and even Obama don't seem to be offended when you call them by their last name, but I'll respect you and work on calling you Josh until I'm corrected.... lol. You're such a stinker!! I sincerely appreciate all reporters starting out and giving attention to kids who deserve it. Best of luck you to with your papers and jeeze... I'll probably subscribe when I move south.

OH... is that YOU chiming in, Myers?? Funny not me and yes most dads would rather their kid be num 1 difference I help make mine be num 1 Already I can see why ukpridewrestler responded as he did. You seem to be a tad bit arrogant about your kid in just this single post and more telling, entirely too full of YOURSELF!. No wonder you got a whack from ukpride. Keep it simple. Its a sport, its healthy and fun, and if your kid is or isn't number one, don't take any credit. Stop living your life vicariously through your son. Try being an adult, a supporter and a parent. Gotta ask, does your kid get dinner if he's pinned in a match?
  6. No disrespect intended, but this isn't the way to go about winning fans for your sports column, Claywell. You're making unfounded accusations. How do you know its a parent? (I ASSURE YOU, I'M A READER... I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THE KID IS.) You've already lost a potential fan since I'll be moving to the area in the near future. I'd like a fair, unbiased, reporter but it seems you're already on a witch hunt.

Nice to see a Region 6 thread. No question Campbell and Ryle are in the bucket and you gotta look at Ryan Sowder at Scott. Boone has a very small team but look out for their 3 of a 5 man team to excel, one of whom hasn't been recognized. That's unfortunate. Small teams tend to get overlooked. Sam Steele is on top his game. Brent Taylor is tough and keep an eye on Braden Jones at 170 who has come out of nowhere to go 31 - 12, losing only when he dropped briefly to 160. I have no idea who Myers is.
