  1. Thanks to everyone who came out and wrestled today. We had a great event and saw some strong wrestling! I'm glad to see KY taking another step forward!
  2. Click Preregister then click wrestler list
  3. You are only mentioning Northern KY talent. There are lots of other kids around the state. Let's wait a little longer and see what other kids register. When we wrestle out of state in track tournaments, we typically see the vast majority of registrations come through on the last day because people are waiting to see where others go before they register. At this point, no Louisville kids or Hardin County kids have registered, and only a couple of those NKY kids have registered. You don't have to pay until the day of the tournament, and you can login and change weight classes. No reason to wait!
  4. Central is a relative term, the geographical center of the state is actually located on the campus of Campbellsville University, so you can't really get more central than that. However, I understand your point in regards to population.
  5. It's time to get registered. There is no reason to hold off. At least enter your kids. If you find there is too much competition at that weight class, just change classes. Track doesn't lock you in once you register.
  6. They will have to bump up. We need to know they can make weight in mid April, so it's important to make for the trials.
  7. From what I hear, there are a lot of kids/teams planning to register that haven't yet. If you plan to attend, please register your kids. There is no reason to hold off until the last minute. That's what causes so many tournaments to get canceled. We want to see as many kids show up as possible in order to get this team off the ground.

    advice greatly appreciated

It totally depends on the kid. My three year old loves wrestling (really he just loves everything his oldest brother does). When he was about 2 1/2, he started wanting to wrestle with his brother, and he actually tried to do things the right way. At three, he has a great stance and can take a really nice high crotch. He knows how to turn with a half and get a cross face cradle. When he's behaving, I take him to youth practice because I'm there anyway with his brothers. He does all the warm up (bear crawl, crab walk, forward rolls, etc...) and stretches, but he doesn't drill with the other kids yet. We will probably let him do a little more next year.
  9. Yes but please make every attempt to register them in the correct class. Everything will run much smoother if we don't have a lot of last minute changes.
  10. John Hardin had a scheduling conflict. These are the weight classes for USA national duals, so they are the ones we will be using since that is the tourney the team will attend.

    Weather

I completely agree. It seems logical that a wrestler would have to make scratch weight at least 3 times prior to being able to qualify for the allowance. The vast majority of the kids using the allowance appear to be those dropping a class not those actually growing.

KY State Duals at Campbell County

All duals tournaments operate this way. National duals will be the same. I wish we could have attended, but we just don't have the numbers at the youth level. My son is a 60 pound 5th grader. In our youth program, the next closest kid to his size is only a second grader. I would imagine that most teams around the state dont have a 60 pounder his age. He would be older than the kids he would face in a youth dual, but that's not against the rules. He rarely wrestles kids his own age or size. He always wrestles up except at nationals. He has wrestled MS 70 all year, sometimes even 75. It's all part of seeking the best competition.

Taylor County has 5 kids who can't wrestle because of injury. We just aren't big enough to compete with that many kids out. We really hate to miss it.

    middle school state seeding meeting

I have no doubt that you all have a tough schedule. I'm just saying that it wouldn't be difficult to attend one large in state event to assist with seeding. They aren't all in NKY. We didn't go to any up north but still had lots of head to head matches with ranked kids by attending 4 tough tourneys: John Hardin, North Hardin, Union and Woodford. Each one of those events was full of state qualifiers.

    middle school state seeding meeting

There are good tournaments within a reasonable distance from everyone. As a first year team, we attended 4 of the events listed above. Two were about an hour away. One was 2 hours and one was 3.5. It's doable.
  19. The 70 pound winner will come from Region 1. Realistically, region should take 3 maybe even 4 spots on the podium at 70.

Do we have a list of teams attending?

Toughest weight class in each region?

70 is a killer class in Region 1 with Blake Whorton, Zeke Escalera and Preston Mattingly. There are also a few other tough kids in the bracket, but 3 of Ranger's top 5 at 70 are in this region.

    District results?

District 2 had 111 and looks like District 1 had 160 based on trackwrestling.

    State Duals Format

I like the idea of MS duals at the same facility. Maybe that event could be held the day after HS. That would allow those MS kids who wrestle varsity to compete in both and both teams could still travel together.

    North Oldham Duals

I'm not aware of anything at North Oldham either. South Oldham is hosting a quad, maybe that's what you mean?
