@ 126, #6 vs #7 in the first round to likely wrestle #10 2nd round, to then wrestle either #25 or #28 (most likely) in the quarters.  One would think that there's a better way to seed this thing. Hate to see top 8 wrestlers get knocked out due to draws that require them wrestling each other and #20 (by example) get on the podium by not wrestling anyone inside the top 10.  It's a lot easier to say "let them settle it on the mat" when it is somewhat seeded than when you have random draws like we do. #1 vs #3 at 120 in the quarters and #1 vs #2 at 175 in the semis is another head scratcher.  KHSAA out here teaching "life isn't fair" lessons to everyone haha

Rankings are somewhat subjective, unless we have head to heads.  To say # so and so has so and so doesn’t hold much weight.  They have to go compete, my boys have been on both sides of the random draw so I get it.  It’s go time, as parents it only last for a short period of time enjoy it.

From what it sounds like, the hosting schools did a good job keeping the tournaments rolling and no one is faulting the tournament directors.

At SS#2 I have a complaint.  This falls on the shoulders of the tournament director.  When you contact him the day before and his best choice for a local place to grab breakfast is First Watch that is an issue.  Jnv858 has a lot to learn about running a tournament.  :D

I have complete faith in Ryle handling the tournament.  They have numerous alumni who help numerous coaches who can help and a knowledgeable parental following. Along with a huge parking lot.

Relax, Ryle runs a great tournament.  Kickemout runs a better tournament than the KHSAA with fewer people.  We have a few dads we have to keep a close eye on, 44Dad and Ranchy have the attention span of a field mouse and need help from our youth wrestlers just to make sure the ref knows the time.  Gameface is on the sound system some good some bad and we can not forget the voice of the Raiders who traveled with Kickemout to Simon Kenton last week to run the regional tournament.

Please tell me that central is not hosting semi state next year!

Regionals alone was a catastrophe :(

(no offense)to central but there was no parking ,no track wrestling dashboard,,no mat assignments ,kids were running the tables and accidentally unplugging the score boards ,missing points because they were on their phone and the concession stand closed 4 hours before the tournament was over .

I’m not trying to be disrespectful,I just don’t think they can handle that kind of volume.

I feel the same way about Ryle’s ability to handle this tournament next year.  It will be a complete mess.

Same side at semi state should result in opposite sides at state….should is the key word

Depends on if they use The Who follows who method or if they use track to seed it.  I would say if they meet in the finals they would be opposite if they meet earlier who knows what will happen.

For the record, the parent and kid you are talking about aren’t even on the forum. That same parent and kid work very closely with Ranger in the off-season so I would bet that the “parent” you are talking about isn’t the person questioning the rankings (I actually know who it was and spoke with him about not throwing his two cents in). Also some people need to remember that admins can see who is actually behind the screen name.

Wait a minute they can see who we are?   If I knew that I would have used my real name.

I’m not complaining. I just wanna see the kids who win move up in the rankings. For some kids, being ranked high is the highlight for them. It’s okay, the same thing happened to me when i wrestled. Nobody wanted to rank me highly so I beat everyone that Ranger ranked ahead of me but that’s a part of wrestling. You’ll remember his name before it’s all said and done

I mean no disrespect I just put the facts out there.
