We may be looking for a place to go next weekend. Will there be big numbers? I don't want to travel 2 1/2 hours for my boys to be in a weight class with only one or two wrestlers. The one I'm worried about is my 84/85 pound third grader.
-
STATE PREDICTIONS?!?! This is a simple selection for me. It looks like Region 3 than everyone else! Region 3 wins at least 11 weight classes.
-
I think this is how 70 ended up in Region 6. 1: Holub 2: Frietsch 3: Pye 4: Ketchen-Carter Joey Delong was fifth.

Less than 2 hours away should be fun to watch. We will get to see a lot of great matches. Mpire is there a ever a good day to wrestle ATM?
-
How will they run this Tri? They should make this like the main event with Cooper and Myers finishing up the night. What time will it start? Will both teams run through Boone first then let the fireworks begin? We need answers I see Mpire and Ranger on here where is Coach Gilbert? This should be an event for everyone to watch and I don't see any information making it to the forums page!
-
The one that knows is being quiet for the first time since I've been on the forums. Mpire will we get to see this? Everyone has been talking about this all year and you are the one that can answer all the questions.
-
Mpire you are the reason I check this forum as much as I do. You have way to much time on your hands. And for that we thank you

Regional Tournaments are a joke! I'm not even sure why we have them. I think the only reason we have them is so the hosting team can use it as a fund raiser. If you are going to have a Regional Tournament for STATE it should be to qualify for STATE.

Youth Holiday Classic - 12/16/12
Chris Duke replied to Submit only to Jesus's topic in Youth Wrestling
It would be great if someone would try this. Have club weigh ins like we do now and put the wrestlers into true weight classes. If you do this and spot check 10% of the wrestlers it might make a lot more people happy. A 16 man bracket would also be a nice touch. -

This is the way it should be. Maybe our state tournament will start doing this. -
The Middle School List - August/September 2012
Chris Duke replied to Ranger123's topic in Youth Wrestling
Ranger, Spencer Carpenter needs to make your list for 92. -
I don't think this will get any traction. If it does it will only hurt or youth and middle school programs.

What are the Toughest HS and MS tournaments, or duals in the State?!

Troy was at Summit View last year and had some studs. -
I'm all for putting your best team on the mat I would just hate to see a kid get hurt. My son would be one of the 8 or 9 year olds wrestling against older kids. I'm not to worried about him just worried about the kids that are not as aggressive. This sounds like an awesome idea lets just make sure it works and grows!
-
Seed by team size. It doesn't meant they have the best team but the have the most to pull from. The chances are the bigger teams will have solid kids.
-
Will this be a true youth tournament or will we allow Middle School kids. I like the idea of one big team just think we should stop it at the 5th grade. Middle school kids have a tournament already. I don't like the idea of a 12 year old going against a 8 year old.
-
Thunder the only thing I would change is give a 1# allowance. That way there are not any surprises the day of weigh-ins and all kids have a chance to wrestle. Remember if this tournament happens they are only youth kids.
-
Second round and finals. It doesn't bother me that we have to wrestle our club. I like the idea of 14 in a bracket where they land they land, its all based on weight. Try to keep clubs on the different side of the brackets that's fine. If you do it this way no one can complain.
-
I'm still trying to figure this site out. Mlee if we are trying to keep kids from wrestling the same region then my boys must be unlucky. In the 5 matches from state last year they wrestled 3 kids from our region and of the 3 two of the boys where from our club.

I don't think people realize how bad the brackets would be if we didn't make an effort to separate kids from the same school. They would be terrible. I recall 3 or 4 brackets last year that would have been 8 kids from one team. I also recall a 4 man bracket of S Oldham kids. Why would we want parents to drive to a tournament, in some cases spend the night, spend all the money, to have them wrestle the same kids in their room? Also, separating the Regions are an easy thing to do that (in my mind) should be done, for the same reason. In parts of KY they are wrestling the same kids every weekend. I'm sure they appreciate not doing that at state. So other than appeasing some people's paranoia, I don't see a benefit to pressing a sort button and printing w/out making sure the brackets make sense.

Raidercoach there is no doubt you guys have a great program. In the past couple years it hasn't hurt that the Raiders have had a hand in putting the youth tournament together. Its a little easier to win if you can control some of the match ups. If you want a team champ you need to make weights and bigger brackets. If you don't is just watered down.

In the youth, team scores has a little to do with talent and a lot to do with team numbers. Its not a bad idea to do away with the team scores. I would like to see bigger brackets. Our STATE tournament is nothing but another tournament. The kids need to feel like they accomplished something 8 man brackets are terrible for a "STATE" winner.

He won his youth bracket and finished 5th in middle school regionals in the 75# class.
