  1. Anyone else concerned about the new way they are planning on wrestling for the 1st/2nd spots at State? They will no longer have a separate time for the Championship match. They will wrestle all 8 placers at the same time with 4 mats going simultaneously. If you are concerned, please express you constructive criticism to the KHSAA at 859-299-5472 or email Julian Tackett at jtackett@khsaa.org or Mike Barren at mbarren@khsaa.org.

    Questions About State

Wasn't there last year to compare, but I liked the arena, though it got cold at times. Taking pics of the awards was awkward. Plus, with a family of 6, it was too expensive. With going to 2 days, it must have made for the late night. We didn't get home until after 1am. Times are still tough, charging the $15 and $25 admission plus keeping us there all day to have to buy food was a little on the usuarous side. Thankfully, we were able to bring in snacks and leave to go to McD and Subway. But I did think they kept the matches going well and was organized. It's too bad the officials stopped the fun w/ the inflatable balls and such. Binoculars are a great idea for next year. I did like the fact that they had recycling bins. But with that record attendance, a big stadium is necessary. That many people did pay those prices. But I don't see us taking our whole family again next year with those prices, unless they can offer a family price.

2012 State Tournament Ranger Report after 2rds.

The 285 ranked #7 is still in the winner's bracket. You've got "Out 5,7" for the 285. I know the numbers have to be making your eyes go cross-eyed after looking at all these rankings and such, but CHHS definitely won both today and is still in the championship bracket. Thanks. I teach accounting, so I'm not trying to be sarcastic when I mention the cross-eyed thing. Thanks! BTW! I thought these guys were all amazing! They're doing a GREAT job at keeping this thing organized! Some really good matches to watch and I know tomorrow will be even better!
  5. Yes, the Region Champion Title speaks louder than any rankings. Great job wrestlers! Loved watching Region 2!! What a great culmination of your hard work, determination, and given talent!

    Darrius Parrott

So glad he is alright! Never want to see a person get hurt!
  7. Mr. Claywell has done a lot for the sport of wrestling. I know who his favorite team is, and I can respect that. It is not my son's team. But I certainly love that he writes many wrestling articles for our local paper, and does an EXCELLENT job at it. I also know his work from Cross Country and am glad he stays so involved with our local sports. He called me on it and that's ok. Rankings or not, we'll find out soon who is moving up to State!
  8. You won't lose any readers over the post. : ) We did just renew our subscription b/c of the Sports coverage!
  9. In response to Newbie's #42 post, just keep in mind that Central Hardin's HWT is only a Sophomore. He's placed 2nd in KOB, 3rd in North Invit, 3rd 0r 4th in Woodford Co. I love watching Danville's HWT wrestle, but the CH kid lost to Danville in a Double OT the first time w/ just beating him in a last second escape borderline out-of-bounds. And then a close one by 2 points the other time. The CH kid came in 6th in the State as a middle-schooler and definitely is no one to write off.
  10. Thanks for the reply. Thanks for putting these rankings up even if there are differences of opinion. Besides Central Hardins's heavyweight, I was impressed with Danville's heavyweight. I'm surprised he's not ranked higher.

    Region 2 Duals

Can't speak on all the matches, but I am looking forward to several good match-ups for Central Hardin.
  12. Just wondering what the criteria was to be ranked. I was surprised Central Hardin's Heavyweight was not ranked. He beat #3 DeSales and some other ranked guys. All of his losses have been extremely close. Is it based on win-loss record, who he beats, or some other criteria. Thanks.
