lol. They took the coaches association vote, which was public for head coaches. If you go back to search for the thread you will see PLENTY of chatter over it. But I guess this dead horse isn't getting hit with a stick enough. It's a done deal and is not going to change. Time to move on, get ready for the fire works of the east/west semi-states and enjoy it!

good thing it isn't like last yr.

Teater and I talk regularly about it. I said the magic # is also 150. I think over 140 would be better. My issue isn't the split, but some of the regions distance. I know out east you have some hauls. Before a split occurs girls need to be sanctioned first.

Congrats to Josh Ashbrook for being named The NWCA Girls coach of the year for the state of KY. congrats to Knox Central coaching staff for being named Staff of the year! Congrats to the entire Union Co coaching staff for winning the guys head coach and staff of the year!

Totally agree with you on talent. I'm not saying that guys have to suffer and vice versa. Simple fact I want to be clear is it's about growing the sport as a whole. One will grow the other

1. The change is because KHSAA cannot afford the venues right now and there is a ton of board pressure to keep the format with SS/Finals. I would also venture to say that other sports will be seeing changes as well. (I don't agree with the decision, but I see a bigger picture for growth. See #3) I will tell you this, the state to the south has completely changed their format to the same as we are doing too. 2. KHSAA is giving US the opportunity to voice the format we want with semi-state/state. It was just released yesterday. Stuff will come out. 3. Girls wrestling IS the future of the sport. If you and others do not see that than you have to stop being ignorant and naïve to think it is a fade and it will go away. It is NOT going to go down. Once it is approved a lot of teams will add it. I know of 3 teams in our area right now that are just awaiting the green light from KHSAA. I can speak for a few teams who were on life support through my years in KY that added girls and see their numbers explode due to adding it. In my years of being in KY, I can honestly say I feel khsaa is FINALLY giving us a chance to hear our voice in a united front. Which the association is actually trying to do. Give it a chance!

KHSAA State Tournament Survey

Top 2 is dumb. You're hurting the sport. With the 6 Matches allowed in post season 16 man works -
Semi State coming back for the foreseeable future?
halfhalfhalf replied to Tbagnky's topic in High School Wrestling
It was not discussed during the BOC meeting. The schedule was posted with no heads up or anything. It is Unacceptable that we did not get realignment nor any guidance on what the plan is. -
Rules revisions: Weight classes and state has the choice of 12, 13 or 14 weights. 6 matches in a day not 5 anymore in the post season. Low cut socks rule gone https://www.nfhs.org/articles/separate-weight-classes-for-girls-choice-of-weight-classes-established-in-high-school-wrestling/

Boro Brawl Nationals April 10/11

I totally agree!! It was very well ran! I plan to take my team there next yr. Regardless of experience level it is an opportunity to get better. -
We would of had 12 in region 1. Ft Knox I think 6-7 kids for region 2.
-
lol. Championship dates are set in a 4 yr scheduling matrix based off of the NFHS calendar. So a long term commitment is easily doable.

I post this somewhere else.... If NFHS moves to the 6 match rule from 5 (Which I voted for as a yes) I could totally see KHSAA moving to the format this yr but make it a 16 man bracket. Doing so, they would lose $$ BUT..... With the girls boom in the state and I am very confident they will sanction it.... Khsaa has to have a venue to hold both tourneys. Scratch HS gyms. Someone said, they want to be close to KHSAA hQ. I could see them staying at horse barn for that simple fact seating, $$ they make/save AND they can sleep at home at night.
