In my experience.... It's more youth and middle school coaches screaming and yelling. HS Coaches at times do, but it is NO where near as bad as it was 5-6 years ago. There is a difference in having a conversation during a heated moment and being cussed out. If that occurs they can be removed. Which needs to occur more to get the problem under control more so at the youth levels.

Just because they've all been there before and have called high level matches is subjective. Especially when the calls are hit and miss at best for a few. I have kept quiet publicly on this but those who I respect and talk too on issues I have said this too. What needs to occur/brought back is an evaluation process of officials similar to how it was when I first came to KY and the senior officials who are out/getting out to be out evaluating and mentoring young officials. You want to increase the number of referees?? Then teams with a big coaching staff quit hoarding coaches and send one to get ref certified. It's okay to miss one when you have 7-10 coaches on staff. There are currently 4 teams out of 122 that have VARSITY coaches who have reffed this season to include 2 of the 4 reffing in a tournament their team is in.

I’ll go on record and say: my 5 venues we could see state at next yr: no particular order: 1. Rupp 2. Corbin 3. dibble 4. Convention Center 5. ky horse park ;)

expo center will not happen. If you people complained about horse park with parking at least you got to come and go. Expo center and Freedom hall you're stuck. If you leave you're paying for parking each time. This is to include busses. This is non-negotiable or when I called to ask about it.

I wrestled in a tourney this past summer called the old timers classic in Missouri. It was 1 min a 30 second break in between periods. It was a lot of fun.

It wouldn’t happen for the guys because to state the obvious….. IT IS SANCTIONED. this is the best format we’ve been able to come up with to give the women of KY an opportunity. We had to go through and find the BEST option to give kids a chance under the circumstances we had to deal with. Wrestle backs would give the opportunity, but we also are limited to 5 Matches. Wrestle backs do not offer the opportunity to finish out as most would run into 5 match rule in the semi finals or just before…. instead of bashing it, why not offer a solution that makes sense. We didn’t just pull some crap out of our rear end. This has been something we’ve had to look at since Christmas. myself, Teater, Ashbrook, Che and Spencer aren’t hard to find.

As you, Teater and I discussed over Lunch this exact thing. I was in the camp of keep it one division and then keep it two divisions. The 3 divisions give different areas on the state something to fight for. If it’s the old way, you don’t get the Carter schools, Holmes, potentially bell or Nelson co to qualify. That’s not knock at those 5 teams it’s just the facts. It does help with growth. Cannot deny that. I just hope Kywca can keep the duals moving forward.

Our numbers have exploded to the point we have to limit the # of participants to 1 per team. For example, if my team was allowed to enter everyone we have 5 114lbers alone. When KHSAA was stating, "We are looking at the numbers and blah blah blah" it made sense to have a full open tournament. But with the numbers exploding and to legitimize the state championship we had to limit. I get the argument for a qualification process, but we were being told it was coming and could happen this year. How can you make something happen when we did not have the answers from the top? Also, the end goal is and has always been to sanction girls wrestling. It has been trending this way for the last two seasons and even more so now. I don't agree with the KHSAA decision to not sanction this season but to continue to have the end game of being sanctioned this is the next step.

Can't rly say they were "missing" their 132 when they had someone who medaled. Not saying HJ wouldn't have medaled as well. But when you're 2 is good as 1. I wouldn't say exactly they are missing someone.

In addition, They beat South Carolina State champion East Side and 17 of the last 20 3A state champions in TN with Bradley and Cleveland. This was probably the toughest field of teams at Father Ryan Inv.
