Cox has held down the 125 spot recently. Fausz beat him at Wolfpack open by MD. Since then it seems Cox has had the better of it in the room. Not sure what is going on. Weight issue, nagging injury, Cox has his number? Cox got smoked in first bout, but came back to record the pin next time out. Not wishing bad on anybody, but it would be nice to see Fausz re-claim the spot.

Anybody watch the Iowa-Illinois dual? Illini up 5 at HWT. Rachal tried to toss Stoll....nah-baba-nah! Stoll sticks him to win the dual by a point.
-
Have you checked their roster? ZERO seniors in the starting lineup, and only four seniors on the entire roster. I believe Kolat is doing it right, building from the ground up. Although, it would be nice to see him land a nice transfer.

Looking good in the early going. Only two losses were to Terao. Terao is a funky dude to wrestle and should find the podium at NCAAs. Upcoming schedule is not too terribly challenging which should lead to a nice string of Ws heading into conference tourney. Then hopefully a bid to the show.

He is on a nice roll to start the year. Undefeated, scoring bonus in all matches except one vs top 20 Taylor Lamont. I believe Intermat has him at #7

Win over Harrington was a good get. Harrington is usually ranked just outside the top 20, so that was quality win.

Helluva week. He and brother Anthony are so smooooooth. To accomplish what they have at such young ages.....Their father must be one phenomenal trainer. Cael is a younger brother. Anybody know if he is wrestling? My guess is yes.

I did not know Grant Leeth's story until this year. Great to see him battle through

Yup. My boys learned so much from practicing GR/FS. It really helps in the folk game. Tough to game plan for Black and then get Rachal. It is kind of like sitting in the on deck circle timing a pitcher's fastball only to have the manager bring in a knuckleballer. Any insight into why Black did not wrestle? I know dual was in hand by that point, but I would think Heffernan would want him to knock some rust off after being injured quite a bit last year. ALSO, Brock Ervin is listed as a student volunteer coach. Great to see he is still part of the game.

Rachal is an unorthodox HWT. He is small for HWT, and has a bit of a gut on him which gives the appearance of a not so impressive athlete. However, for a HWT he does have some funk. Hard to prepare for, especially when you are expecting a totally different style in Brooks Black. Is Black healthy? Or was he held out as Mizzou had the dual locked up at that point? Looked like Myers had a body lock and Rachal used that to toss him.

What’s your take on individual and team rankings? Great to see Iowa St making waves with some nice recruits. I am always pulling for Kolat to do good things at Campbell. B1G Ten will be it’s brutal self. I would not be surprised to see Michigan and/or Minnesota overperform their rankings. Interested to see how Tomasello holds up at 125. He is a stud, but will be sucking a lot of weight.

Man, I don’t know why Iowa would bring in Downey. Who needs that kind of distraction in such a strong program. I can see a team just outside the top take a gamble, but Iowa??? Great weekend of wrestling so far. I watched Va Tech v Stanford. I’ve been a VTech fan from a distance. Solid line up. How did KY boys fare this weekend?
-
Fausz is KY's best shot at AA. His rankings show him just outside the top eight, which I am sure he is using as motivation. The pundits seem to think this will be a down year for Iowa. It will be interesting to see what the Brands boys do with their lineup.

The more the merrier! Met my wife at KWC.

Hopefully, he gets it this time. He is now in a room that doesn't put up w/ crapshows. Although I am a Bucks fan, I like to see these kids grow in a positive manner, even Hawkeyes.

Perhaps he should have chosen a different word than cheating, but point made. http://www.flowrestling.org/article/59846-karelin-age-cheating-is-destroying-wrestling#.WZOtL0EpDYU

My concern lies more in screwing with the kids head. They go through Jr Hi and HS as studs and find college wrestling is very difficult. The mental challenge can be too much to overcome. I have no problem holding back kids for social/emotional/educational reasons. Actually, when I see a "holdback" I assume it is for one of these reasons. In my case, all our children had March-May birthdays. All went to school at the first opportunity. All were among the youngest in their class. It would have been easy to hold them back. Especially our oldest son who was among the physically smallest in grade school. Our youngest didn't turn 16 'till summer before junior year. As far as sports go, it isn't cheating to hold a kid back so long as you follow the guidelines. Though yes, gloating about wins over much younger competition doesn't hold water in most households. Anyway, Karelin makes a very good point.

A little early perhaps, but thought it would be nice to have a spot to keep track of the boys
-
Agree wholeheartedly. S 32 is nowhere near what it used to be. So many events, all competing for our dollar that claim to be "national" events are watered down. As much as I dig the Flo guys I gotta say FloNats falls in this category as well.

That's a bummer. I heard Wyo Sem, correct?

Hearty congrats!

Sure most have seen this, but thought I'd share it. Props to Cox for gutting it out. http://www.flowrestling.org/article/57506-why-cael-sanderson-was-ejected-from-world-team-trials#.WT89TYUpDYU

Very cool that Austin had that experience. I heard J'Den got dinged up in 3rd match. Any word? Personally, I was surprised that Taylor hung w/ Cox. I still think of him as a small guy. Amazing how he has grown. Dake-Burroughs was off the hook too. Great to see the sportsmanship out of Ramos after Gilman took him out.
