KY State Duals at Campbell County

After reading all of this, the Team Kentucky Youth Trials are less than a month a way. I owe you all a flyer (thanks sbraz) and will get one out soon. No age groups, just weight classes so we can field the best team possible. Looking to have practice facilities throughout the state for the month of March to get kids together. Carr Wrestling Academy and Coach Miracle have volunteered to assist and possibly coach at the events. For updated information: There are over 40 teams from 27 different states going to the tournament in Nebraska. We are hoping to take 2 teams. It will be competitive. We may lose some mismatches, but we will put Kentucky Youth Wrestling on the mat with the caliber of kids we have in this state. Would also like to send a team to Kingsport Tennessee on the same day to show the AAU National Duals what Kentucky has. Ranger did a great thing to get the ball rolling in the right direction. He will be an instrumental part in helping me get this off of the ground. (By the way, I am in E-Town and not from NKY so that may hinder some of your mafia comments....they have let an outsider in) Ranger will talk more on Saturday about the way forward. If a coaches biggest complaints in a year are his team is too tough, then he probably is doing the right thing with his team. Good problem to have!
  4. Please visit: http://www.kyusawrestling.com/Past-Results.php to download your copy of the 2014 Middle School State Brackets and Team Rosters. They are at the top of the page under 2013-2014 results. These links will be updated with completed brackets and team scores as I receive them. Maybe during the tournament so check back regularly. JW
  5. WrestlingGuy - You have posted names and weight classes - any justifications for these predictions, any ranked opponents beaten, any tournaments that the rest of these kids have proven themselves at that your list placed higher at, any reason for posting these names! If they are legitimate contenders they will prove on the day of states, if not.......
  6. The teleconference for the middle school state seeding meeting has been changed from tonight at 7:00 pm to Monday at 8:00 pm. All times listed are eastern.

    TAPOUT RULE

The rule on stalling is call it when seen. The rule on a pinning combination is if it is potentially dangerous or illegal call it immediately to avoid injury. If the referee can see that the move is not illegal and not potentially dangerous they must let the match go on and count the near fall and slap the mat if a pin occurs. If illegal or potentially dangerous stop the action. If not one of those two criteria action continues.

    middle school state seeding meeting

The seedings are fine. They seeded region champions 1 through 4. There is a kid that took third in his region that has beaten every other region champion. He is not seeded. Head to head has proven his ability but he did not at his own region tournament. Oh well. His job to wrestle through now. As Dutch said in an earlier post, seed them but they still have to wrestle. My kids have wrestled in Georgia, Ohio, West Virginia this year also, but they still managed to wrestle the majority of the kids in their weight class in the state of Kentucky. Make out of state an exception, not a rule and you will get your match-ups. Referring to last years state to get your 140 seeded but not referring to it for your light weight is kind of hypocritical. We have all the head to heads, common opponents, tournament placings we needed from last years bracket if we need to reference more. The seeding of all weight classes turned out really well, a great tournament will take place, Rangers job will be up for re-election.....those complaining won't step up - he will be stuck with the job again and we will go into next year so the same people can complain endlessly about the NKY Mafia. Which makes no sense because Ranger and John forced me onto their committee when I did not want it and I have probably been the biggest devils advocate for years to them, but they wanted expansion out of Northern Kentucky and a different view. Good job to those that participated on Monday night and acted professionally afterwards. To those who have allowed emotion to over ride passion on this, get your head right because seeds, previous records, past results won't mean $h!t on February 8th. All on the wrestler. When the 4th placer from Region A wants it more than the Region Champion from Region D it would have been better time spent helping a young wrestler understand the mental game more than complaining on a forum. Good luck to the 239 young men and one lady who have put in the work for us immature adults to argue over you at 14 years old and below.

  14. Week one is down. As many have found out this weekend, there is a requirement for coaches to register with the KSWA IOT to sit in the corner of the mat and coach. You must have your USA Coaches Card number. Have your CPR and First Aid certificates to upload on a computer. Have your documentation that you completed the KHSAA Safety course. Then go to http://www.kyusawrestling.com/forms1/form.html and register. It takes 2 minutes to complete. You will receive your coaches card within 24 hours (usually faster).
  15. Here is the confirmed hosts as of now - Region 1: Union County, Jason Brown Region 2: River City, Efren Quirino Region 3: Conner, Shane Sproles Region 4:Madison County, Gene Wolf Region 5:Perry County, Cynthia Cory Region 6: McCreary County, Eric Privett With the more specific rules for eligibility for the youth state tournament (specifically weigh in dates / certified official requirements) - we need each region tournament director that will be hosting the youth regional qualifier to be identified immediately. If you are planning on hosting a youth region tournament please post to this forum immediately so the KSWA is tracking and can ensure the required information is passed to you and we can begin open communication to ensure a smooth transition through regionals on to the state tournament. Thanks JW

    Track Wrestling

Very easy. It walks you through it, the help button is there and the service from track is tremendous. They literally answer questions with in minutes on tournament days. Pretty good for a family run business.
  17. You are correct, Matt Lee told me, I just have not had time with getting kids into tournaments, turning around coaches cards, etc... updated now. I won't put dates until I get flyer to attach to ensure there is less confusion. JW

    KSWA Middle School District Tournaments

If they registered correctly with USA wrestling, Keith should be able to provide the district hosts with a list by team of USA Cards. I will use trackwrestling which will verify the card number for me....I am about 90% your district is also; so you should be good to go if they have a card.
  19. Keith Smith paid for some nice Kentucky USA Wrestling Lanyards for the cards. If they have a coaches card they will be able to be on the floor. If they don't they will get one up to the stands warning. The second time they will have to listen to the radio broadcast from their car..........it will be silent since we are not to that point yet unless Ranger has another trick up his sleeve like FloWrestling coming to stream the finals.
  20. All six hosts for youth regions identified. See top post for your regions point of contact. Dates and flyers will be uploaded as I receive them.
  21. Updated original post with Team hosts and name of tourney director. Will continue to update as results come in.
  22. The annoying this kid beat this kid goes on at the high school rankings also, but I think part of the purpose is to get a rise out of people and keep the interest throughout the season.

Congratulations to Spencer Adams and Gary Canter (short lived retirement). I am sure both will have them competitive in the very near future.
