I believe Gamble can beat Johnson but Johnson would for sure be the favorite in the match. Geordon Blanton is one that I believe
Is ready to take a huge step forward at state this year also.
-
Gamble has been wrestling well. I look for him to turn a few heads this weekend. Johnson County as a whole has been doing well on the mats lately. I think JC will suprise a few folks at state.
-
95 is the year im talking about. The 2nd year Matney won state at SCHS. In 93 Bruce did win state.
-
No Bruce didnt win a state the first year Matney won his first state title. 93 May not be the year but I think it is. Sheldon Clark had 5 to finish runner up that year. Bruce won state the following 3 years
-
Coach Matney at Sheldon Clark won his first state title in 93 without any state champions. But he did have 5 runner ups.
-
I second Mr. Lenhart's comments. Thank you.
-
We're very proud of the whole Johnson County team they all wrestled great as a team. But I want to give a shout out to my son Blue Fletcher for placing 4th as a 5th grader. Also want to give Noah Duke some praise for placing 2nd as a 5th grader. This state has some great young wrestlers right now it's future is bright.
-
I thought it was a good ran tournament with some great wrestling. It was very enjoyable the kids had a lot of fun.
-
Who's the teams from each region voted in. Region 4 is sending McNabb.
-
How will the pools be broken down?

District 8 had a few schools miss school today because of weather. Because of this there will be an extra pound on top of the growth allowance for districts tomorrow. Good luck and safe travels to everyone.
-
152 is going to be a tough class in region 4. Johnson Co 168 is there to. Johnson Co will also have a few kids make noise that no ones talking about.

All those teams will be at my tournament Dec 20. If you want in I will fit you in. The biggest problem I have noticed is people complain about not being able to get in the tournaments then when they have an opportunity they find a reason they can't make it.
I agree with you on that.
-
From my understanding a lot of these tournaments were posted and filled up during the summer and there are several teams who do not know who their coach will be and cannot commit to events that early. Its hard to get in tournaments after that. I believe our team has 4 open weekends that we cannot get into a single event and we have a big team this year. I guess we can always go to Johnson Co. It would be nice to get into the same tournaments as Walton Verona, Twenhoffel, Campbell, East Oldham, Union and Woodford because those teams have the top ranked kids. It also sucks when one of these teams commit to coming and back out for a more competitve tourney. Its the case of mid-majors trying to play a major team, only to be left out. Johnson Co is a major team, but no one want to drive that far unless major teams will be there and the other teams in that region are not that deep and have alot of holes. I think there needs to be like 4 major tourneys held in different parts of the state to allow each team the opportunity to wrestle the major teams. Last year no one knew or seen the Stafford kid from Martin Co and he placed 4th at state and is ranked #1 now. I'm sure there are more kids out there this year like this that most will never see. I don't have any answer to this though...just know I see alot of teams on here asking about tourneys for open dates and they cannot get in anywhere.
I agree great idea. Stafford placed 3rd behind Tucker and Gentry.
-
My point is Johnson county has good wrestlers it be nice to see them come more west.
I agree but I like the idea someone on here had last year. I don't remember who it was. But they said hold 3 major tourneys a year. One out west, one central located, and one here in the east. That way everyone would get to see everyone.
-
No one said it was anyone's fault anyone isnt seen. I wasn't complaining I actually said the list looked pretty good. I was just stating facts.
-
It's not about respect. Just give a name and some wins and kids make the list.
I think you guys do a good job with only seeing a hand full of kids at this time. I'm just saying there will be some kids that surprise you when you see them. If their not on the list now they will be at the end of the year. There are kids from JC that has beat a number of the kids on the list. All be it last year which means nothing. But all in all the rankings are pretty good like I said.
-
Leaving a few kids off the list from Johnson County. Glad to see Joe Jackson is getting the respect but Johnson County will have a few more kids earn some respect before its all over. But overall the list looks pretty good.

I to would be for seeding the High School state tourney but even with seeding its not a sure thing. The middle school seeds its 4 regional champions and it works good for the most part but it still doesn't guarantee much. At this years middle school tourney they were only 1 weight that came out with the top 4 seeded kids placing top 4. The 80lb class came out the top 4 placing exactly how they were seeded with 2 number 2 seeds placing 5th and 6th.
