It kills me the way some people try to knock Austin.. Whether or not wildcat was intentionally trying to take a dig at him, I as well as others perceived it that way. If anything, EVERYBODY, either in state or out of state should applaud Austin. The kid is 12 years younger than me and I look up to him for what he has done and will continue to accomplish; I could only dream of having a resume with either one of his seasons... He runs from NOBODY, and this week proves he will wrestle anyone/any time/anywhere.. Well done Austin!! I can't wait to see him hopefully multiple x AA at WV. Also, good luck to Stephen when he returns as well. With their drive, they should both be national collegiate champions.

Nice work, hope he keeps the wins coming

    Congrats Ruschell and Yenter

Being as I have always been a school comes first guy, this is a tremendous accomplishment... Congrats guys!!! College is no walk through the park, and while wrestling on top of it, double whammy right there

    Florankings update.

Pretty cool to see two ky kids ranked in the same class (I know they were different in season). Congrats

Just curious, I remember a while back people talking about a kid boston had beaten to validate his number 1 ranking, was this the same kid? I try to follow the local kids nationally as much as I can, but it's hard to keep up with. Hopefully Nathan beats him and many others while representing ky on the college level, can't wait to follow his college career.

    NAIA Nationals

Seen he lost in the medal round in overtime... I couldn't see or hear anything about the calls as I was on track, but my heart broke for the kid when I seen the result. What happened on the calls? From what I've seen and heard about Stephen, this will only motivate him more. Being a 3x all-American won't sound too bad when it's all said and done, I'm sure that's what he will be. Can't wait to follow him next season

ky state champs vs in state champs

Ha that's funny. Austin has beaten Robinson, Robinson can't say the same about Austin. I'm sure Robinson has gotten better since they wrestled last, but IMO Austin is 10x better than he was two years ago, and that's saying something considering nobody could beat him then either.. No nut hugging here, but Austin is probably the most gifted wrestler I have seen... I'm glad I can say I have had the pleasure of rolling around with him and am still leaving (he took it easy on me as I am old) And Tarzan, whatever you feed your kids, can it up and sell me some please. I have two young guns that could use some lol

    State wrestling all purpose thread.

precisely.... ATM will more than likely get his next year if he doesn't this year, and as stated before, brock is deserving too if/when he becomes the first 5xer... must be a good feeling to be as awesome as these three wrestlers you have mentioned. without a doubt, one of the most talented group of wrestlers ky has had in a single year

Also, there is no bias here, I respect ANY and ALL kids who lace up and strap on headgear, because wrestlers have the biggest balls of any athlete (sorry about the language, no other word could come to mind), but I have to throw out my opinion for Austin as MOW (I know my opinion is just that, an opinion).

Austin myers: 4 pins in 1 min 8 seconds with the finals to go... Wow!!! Also the Dixie heavy in finals with four pins in under 2 min as well. Good job to Sinclair for making finals, amazing what wrestling Austin as well as having self-drive can do for ya. Good luck everyone! On a side note, it's inevitable that Brock will get MOW seeing as a 5x champ has never happened in this state, and he is deserving, but if it's tournament based (as I think it should be), then it shouldn't even be close as to who should get it if he gets another quick pin in finals.

That is from NKU, they had that same picture in one of the display cases on northern's campus a few years back.

    GMVWA

Well said... And I guarantee Sean was ready, just got out wrestled. And I would also bet the house that if he wrestled them both ten more times, Sean wouldn't lose again, i bet he's a little disappointed, but he's not sweating it. He won't lose again. Grapplehed is the man btw, if he is who I think he is, he also had a small role in the development of ky's only 2x NCAA d1 all American...

Austin the man child lived up to expectations, what a phenomenal wrestler to watch, mow and pins his way through the finals. It's unfortunate for Fausz, but he didn't lose to any slouches, and everyone not named Cael Sanderson will have an off day. I believe he will vindicate himself and dominate throughout the rest of the season. Great job guys

    wrestling on tv

no doubt collica is a stud, I hear he could have been a jr state champ and possible 4x placer, however, he ran into a beast. I believe you know that beast, mpire?
  16. AWESOME!!! And congrats to your boys Mpire

    Caleb Ervin - NCAAs

Fortunately for us Kentucky fans, we will still get a chance to root for him again next year too, hopefully along with all the other ky d1's (and all the others in college at all levels)

    FARGO

I cant remember 100%, but i think i read somewhere that j jaggers did not place at fargo until his senior year at fargo, and he was an ohio 4xer, and two time ncaa champ. Just shows how truly tough it is

    McDonough's Medal

I never did like the attitudes of the hawkeye wrestlers... Especially when metcalf lost to caldwell and pushed him.. I did however like Daniel Dennis, really wanted to see him win a championship, liked his drive. Other than him, never cared for the hawkeyes.

Photos from 2013 State Tournament - Region 6

Great photos. I know its been mentioned before, but I haven't seen them until these photos, those medals really arent up to par. Awesome job by all the medalists, khsaa needs to reward them with something better than those... A lot of kids bust their tails year round for a decade or more.

I always heard if you turned 19 before April 1st of whichever school year, then you will be ineligible. But if your birthday is say April 5, that means you will be 19 about a month after season ends. And I know what he means saying he will graduate at 17 if not for a hold back. My youngest son was born is September. He would be able to start kindergarten at the age of four, and graduate high school four months before his 18th birthday. Or I could wait a year, and start him at age 5. He would then graduate at age 18. I plan on doing the latter, however, I would not be able to hold him back once during during his school years, or he would be ineligible his senior year. People have theories and claim to know everything about everyone's age. The only time mark ever got held back was when he repeated the 7th grade. He will conclude his senior year of wrestling at age 18. Unless you forge a birth cerificate, these theories some of you guys come up with are soooo off the wall. Parents that do hold their kids back are smart enough to look at their eligibility requirements. Theyre not going to risk having their kid miss their whole senior year of sports
