  1. I like the idea of doing away with team championship. There would not be recruiting, which we all know does happen and choose not to talk about. Whether the wrestler starts their high school career as a freshman somewhere, KHSAA has set a precedence where a wrestler can transfer to another school and participate at the Varsity level that same here. Yes there are rules, but all rules have loop holes. Good luck to all the wrestlers in the upcoming year. Some that have graduated will be missed, some that are coming from middle school will be a pleasure to watch.

How many wrestlers will we lose?

Who thinks they are actually going to get the high schools to purchase boats for this “sport” when many wrestling teams cannot get their athletic departments to purchase wrestling matts or replacement singlets for their team?

New rules for KY MS Wrestling

I have seen this at the middle school level in NKY as well. Middle school wrestling being approached by high school wrestling programs asking if they would open enroll to their school so they can wrestle for them. I believe the transition from MS to HS is the place to move your kid where it best fits them.

New rules for KY MS Wrestling

I understand what you are saying and of course this is an open discussion forum for thoughts and ideas. How about this way then. If a middle school wrestlers wrestles at the high school varsity level, then they are not eligible for middle school tournaments. I believe they have a rule of this nature in high school football. I am not 100% sure of the rule, but I think it is something like, "if a football player is a started on varsity defense, they are not allowed to play that position on JV." Again, not 100% sure of the rule.

New rules for KY MS Wrestling

I would like to see a rule put in place that if a wrestler qualifies for high school state that they should not be eligible for middle school state. If a wrestler is good enough to wrestle at the high school varsity level and the coaches and parents agree to put him/her there, they should stay there.

    Region 6 seeds

Do not forget Morris from Dixie at 152. I believe is record is somewhere around 38-40 wins and 5-6 losses. Real district contender.

    Weight Class Decisions

Better to wrestle up in the early season and drop down after the holidays or wrestle in the weight class you are and become familiar with your competition?
