per the email sent out about the youth meeting in May.... The following are the notes from the Youth Coaches Spring Meeting at Campbell County Middle School on Sunday May 20th. · We looked at and discussed the financial report from the state tournament. I have attached a copy of it for you. Next year’s costs from the Horse Park has not been determined. We hope to continue gain a financial advantage as we follow the KHSAA Tournament. · Discussed the hosting of the state tournament and it was decided that the Northern Kentucky Region would be the host region. Campbell County has volunteered to be the lead team for the region. · We discussed the weigh in issue for the state tournament. Some coaches have expressed a concern with actual weight at the tournament. It was decided that we would continue with what we are currently doing with satellite weigh ins but we will use a state form that must be signed by a wrestling official no more than 10 days prior to the state tournament. · Discussed team score and it was decided that we would not keep a team score this next year. · Discussed using an awards vendor to simplify the reordering of awards each year. We decided that we would use Crown Trophy for the next 5 years. · We discussed the responsibility of coaches to ensure we are checking our wrestlers for skin and nails before competitions. If you are hosting a youth tournament this summer or next season please send me the dates and I will get them distributed.

I would say that leaving 40 or so kids off the brackets from one of your rival programs could be considered as (evidence you have that we "controlled match ups") as you put it. Now, I seriously doubt that this was done with any intent, but you asked for evidence, I gave you something that could be considered evidence, do what you want with it.

I thought youth wresting was about development of wrestlers?

NOTE VENUE CHANGE: Due to construction at Campbell Co High School. Meeting has been moved to Campbell Co Middle School. Times are the same, just new location. If you need directions or have questions you can PM me or Ranger. Thanks See everyone there. -
I have heard that the building of the new school has sent the school system into a financial tailspin. Possibly several other sports may be effected when its all said and done.

JW i was enticed by your post to go back and look at my team this year and look at their weight plans for the year. (yes I have my kids do the same test that the high school does.) Guess what I found, We had a kid that wrestled in the 92lbs weight class this year at districts, that weight 105 lbs the day of his test. per his plan, he was allowed to lose the maximum 1.5% per week. this plan allowed him to be 92lbs by 12/17/11. (his first weight in at 92 lbs was 12/21/11, then again on 12/29/11 and 12/30/11.) Per his weight plan he could have been as low as 87lbs by districts (1/14/12.) Are you saying it was wrong for him to go 92lbs at districts?

Those were just the ones I knew about, Im not there at the tournament, (wont be till Saturday) Just getting updates from the parents that are.
-
Owens, Parrott, Harris all won so far.
-
More than likely due to the fact that there really isnt anywhere to have a hospitality room down in the lower areas and inner workings of the arena.
-
To be fair, some teams wouldnt exist if they didnt let the 7th and 8th graders wrestle up.

Be glad you can go to your car for lunch. We were at a tournament earlier this year where you could not leave the building. IE No Reentry with out Repaying. I will give the site credit though, they did have a really good concessions stand and didnt charge an arm and leg. $1.00 Hot dogs, $1.50 sodas in bottles, $1.00 waters. On the McDonalds being brought in comment, I know of several places that will not allow it with out paying an extra fee. Ive seen anywhere from $1.00 to $5.00. Can't say I blame them really, if you want to bring your own food in, pay the fee. If you dont want to pay the fee, eat it in your car.

Actually, The team with the top team score at each District Tournament is what qualifies them for state duels. Then each region has to vote for who their at large bid team is at regionals. Some Regions vote on it, some vote that the team that places highest at regionals (and wants to go to state duels) will be the at large team from that region.
