HEY, I agree I'm a big fan of improving the awards for our sport. Trust me, I personally had a big role in changing the way the the Current Youth and MS medals look/designed. I'm just saying that the medals that are going to be giving out, are in fact the old youth medals before we made a change to that particular medal with a new design. Its almost like they wanted to get a newer medal made for the HS kids and the current vendor gave them that option. Plus it also could be due to timing of getting new medals made. Something that needs to be done in August, so you have them by State time. They are doing good things moving forward. Trying to improve the awards, the schedule of the tournament, getting a State tournament mat. Its all good stuff!

Seeding can be done. The issue is getting the KHSAA to buy in on this and allowing the Coaches Association to take control of this part of the process. Ranger and I started doing this at the MS level when we were on the Board, and it seems to be working just fine. This way you don't get a Johnson and Sheffer meeting each other in the quarters or semis.

I think getting new medals or plaques are great for these kids. They deserve that! But I will add, those medals are the former YOUTH STATE MEDALS!

Just wanted to THANK all the teams that participated this year. A lot of good matches with some great competition. Several teams were missing kids but for the most part everyone looked good. Woodford County has a solid team. They will be a tough team to beat this year, especially in duals. Madison Central, another strong team with a strong showing. Overall a great weekend to kick start the season for several teams. Yes this is great news! Mason has put the time in to make this goal of his come to a reality. As his coach since the 4th grade, it has been an awesome experience to watch him grow and progress not only as a wrestler but as a young man. I wish him nothing but the best. Mason isn't one to sit around and wait for things to happen, he will work hard and do great things at the next level, and for me personally, I'm looking forward to the next chapters of his life. After many text back and forth with our Sectional teams several months ago, we pretty agreed to have us (Walton) host the event on Wed. Jan. 4th.

Just like to know Why this Re-alignment is taking place now? This should have been done back in February. I'd say that most teams already have their schedules set, so now there will be teams having to drop something or not compete in sectionals.
