agreed, I can understand the time being out for the 2 call, video review would answer that, but 1 should have been awarded as Hilday had zero control

    Alex Marinelli vs Mark Hall

http://www.flowrestling.org/video/936004-170-lbs-final-mark-hall-mn-vs-alex-marinelli-usa I am eating crow for breakfast. Others called a tech/major, I said it would be a close match, Hall dominated him. Mark is great, on another level. I never doubted his level of skill, I over estimated Marrinelli's. Marrinelli had 3 DEEP shots, couldn't score off of any. Hall's composure, and ability to stay calm is unbelievable. Going into the third period it was super tight, 3 period started, and so did the scrambles, as well as Hall's points..... Marrinelli made a mistake, and Hall took complete advantage of it.

    Alex Marinelli vs Mark Hall

Not that I agree with it, but I believe it is left up to the parents as long as it is prior to high school. Once you start high school your 4 year clock starts. Parents discretion. You see it a lot in other states also, heck in Ohio there is always a topic of discussion of the "red shirt" year for incoming high schoolers. And since he competed in a different state, he was able to move and start his "career" over again. There are always ways for people to find those gray areas inside the rules, happens all over, we have seen it here in Kentucky as well.

    Alex Marinelli vs Mark Hall

He was here as a 7th grader, dad wanted him to be a 6timer, so held him back and did 7th grade again when they moved to Minnesota. I believe if he would have won here that year he was going to stay another year at least prior to moving again. But since he lost, and his dad was set they decided to move to Minnesota. I'm pretty sure he is not 19 yet, or just turned 19 after the deadline of ineligibility. They both still support the Ryle program as Mark has posted many pictures to his Instagram wearing his Ryle gear, and if you watch his state finals match when he goes up to hug his dad, his dad is actually wearing his Ryle Wrestling Polo. Coach Ruschell still speaks to Mr. Hall quite often. Hall is extremely hard to score on, he can scramble with the best of them. That is showcased by his matches with Valencia last year. However Marrinelli is Jordan trained, and he won 4 OH state titles and Ironman titles for a reason. Dude doesn't come out of position, talented, strong, and a gas tank to boot. I predict Hall will win (again) but I don't know if it will be by major or tech like some have predicted. They wrestled 2 years ago and Hall won 5-3 and Marrinelli was close to scoring a couple times in the third to tie it up. Match link below http://www.flowrestling.org/video/935513-171-lbs-mark-hall-mn-vs-alex-marinelli-oh This is a highly anticipated match, 2 of the best pound for pound in the country, only to know they will face each other for many more years to come with both of them in the B10 makes it even better.

Help Me Fix The State Finals

I stand by the man daily.... I told him what the changes were before he knew or heard about them....... And I found them on here then validated via KHSAA. From what I understand; they take very minimal advice from the committee, experience or not. I don't know how much belly aching the committee does, but when you have coaches that come to the table with ideas to better the situation, and many years experience, one would think they would listen. I don't think they listen. That is evident by the format this year. KHSAA was confident that it would provide a better atmosphere and be done in a timely manner. Well, we all know how that went. I don't blame them for trying something new, however when you have people with experience and knowledge of the sport, a good leader would listen. Anyone with wrestling experience and awareness could look at the format and know that it would take 4+ hours (and it actually took 5). I don't know the reasoning and who crunched the numbers showing that format would be successful, but the KHSAA definitely has very little knowledge/awareness regarding how to run a tournament. And a tournament of this nature makes it mind boggling to not want to do what is "best". This right here..... I have heard multiple times over the last 2 years coaching in KY. From multiple different coaches on and off the committee.

Help Me Fix The State Finals

I hope this was sarcasm..... Myself and probably the 30+ other coaches I talked too complained that they were NOT running the QTRS on Friday night. So I would be curious about coaches that truly wanted out of there early on Friday rather than run that round. There were also many many complaints prior to the tournament even starting; letting KHSAA know the finals in this format would last 4+ hours. I don't know any coach and/or wrestler that would want to arrive at 5:30 and then not wrestle until 10:40 for your finals match. There are loads of coaches with ideas, on and off the coaches board, that can make this tournament spectacular. I have only coached high school in KY for a few years now, and the feeling I get is that KHSAA does what they feel is best and nothing else matters. Which to me, IMO, is causing a spiraling downward effect rather than helping make it better.

    HEADS UP

coaches and teams too or just spectators? We don't use bus service we drive down in cars...... Seems like another way to hurt the sport all while making money. Doesn't matter who is charging, KHSAA would be the profiteer from it. They either are charging themselves or they got a deal on the rental fee and in return allowed the Horse Park to charge. Benefits them either way. This stinks for the people who have to pay entry, travel, lodging, etc.... now throw on another fee.

    Uniform change?

Is there that much ridicule? Serious question. Maybe I'm missing it. This is me, and what I typically see is people who don't know or understand the sport due to exposure; and then the singlet is just a fraction compiled in with this due to the lack of knowledge of the sport. Like I said I'm for either way, and not against it (I myself love the fight shorts and have some to wear). Just having a hard time seeing how the means out weigh the ends and how this would justify growth compared to all the costs. For those that are stating high costs of sublimated singlets and fight shorts, or gear etc...... Barbarian Apparel. Located in Cincinnati. Excellent guy. Custom designs, great material. He will mock up any type of design you would like. He has done most of the teams in Cincinnati, a lot of teams throughout Ohio and KY, as well as Team Ohio, college teams, over sea international teams, etc..... His name is Josh Sasfy, excellent excellent dude. And his prices are very good especially for custom designs included. Sublimated Fight Shorts and shirts combo is like $50-60, Sublimated fight shorts, shirt, and Singlet $100, total warm up gear with bag is like $150 or something. Large team orders tend to get bigger discounts. Check him out if you haven't ever heard of him. I have used him multiple times and highly recommend if you're looking for gear. www.barbarianapparel.com
