My wife has been a middle school math teacher for 18 years. She says- now keep in mind this is anecdotal research, with no control group or scientific method- that boys that are at least 14 in the 8th grade do better in Algebra than boys who are 13 or younger. They also are more mature acting in class. This does not translate to girls. We will be holding back our grandsons (when we have some) based on her observations.

If they haven't made a public commitment, y'all probably shouldn't report what you've heard about these boys' plans for after gaduation especially if they aren't going to be wrestling. Speaking as a parent, that's kind of personal info that I wouldn't want people reporting on a message board. Just my opinion.

So a 3.7 GPA and a 31 ACT merits only $2500/yr in scholarships at UK. WEAK! Looks like we will be taking the $9000 from U of L.

They have livestock shows there, including cattle and oxen. They also have rodeos, with calf roping, according to a google search. -
Refdad, I grew up in the projects in the Ville but did those same things you did LOL! I don't have animal allergies, but I assure you, I heard people complaining about it. And it did smell like manure. Ask rideemout, he posted the same thing. The track and field state finals is usually at UK, but they are remodeling the track so it has been at U of L the last 2 years. And that U of L track facility is NICE!!!

I heard kids say they were suffering from allergies from all the animal dander in the arena. The place smelled like horses and cows.

Some of you will be surprised that I just watched a movie, Here Comes The Boom. My third movie since 2001! It was dumb but I chuckled a few times.

I would have to nominate my son, Tighe Harrod 160 Franklin County. He had never won more than 12 matches in a season. This year, his senior season, he went 30-9, finished ranked 20th by Ranger, beat some ranked wrestlers, won some big duals matches for his team (mostly at 170), qualified for state, almost knocked off a #1 seed (lost 10-9 last second) and won a match by pin at state. We are very proud of him.
