    Kentucky's Most accomplished wrestler

Taylor won Ironman as a frosh. He didn't get to that level with 2 weeks of coaching. He would have won Ironman as a frosh had he been at Moe, St Ed, Graham, or Campbell County. Your point is an excellent one about the Jordan's though. They definitely set him in the path. My point was and is that Taylor developed into a state championship caliber wrestler outside of Ohio--Wyoming I think.

    Kentucky's Most accomplished wrestler

Ohio didn't produce David Taylor. He was a move in to Graham and nearly chose Moeller. There's nothing stopping a Kentucky prep from becoming world class, as evidenced by Ruschell.
  5. My mother-in-law was hurt very seriously in an accident in Tucson a few days ago. She has substantial memory loss/amnesia. They expect her to fully recover, but there's got to be a way I can parlay this to my advantage. She has a nice Porshe that she promised me! All kidding aside, we are fortunate it wasn't worse. happy Valentine's Day, Nana!!

  6. Today I'm delivering more flowers, to more people, than just about anyone else in the world. (at least around the Boston/Manchester, NH area). You're welcome Jeff Cole.

Eliminating Middle School Wrestlers from High School teams

I don't like it, probably because I grew up in a place where it's not a possibility. Why the rush? Although there are countless kids who can handle it, that's a lot of pressure for a middle schooler. Also, I'm not sure the environment of a HS wrestling team is the best place for a 12-13 year old. You are talking about drastically different levels of maturity between 17-18 year olds and middle schoolers. It's unfair too the middle school kids at other schools. If 8th graders at Campbell County are wrestling varsity but the kid at Ryle can't due to an 11th grader being at the weight the CC wrestler gets an unfair developmental advantage (stretching here a bit, I admit.) I say eliminate 106 and one of the heavier weights anyway. 14 is too many classes. It's probably not going to change anytime soon though.

    Question about Alltech Arena

That Frankfort venue was probably nice in its day for whatever it was designed-but not wrestling. With the growth of the sport (PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THIS NEXT SENTENCE), we need to bring the sport out of the dark ages. The state finals should be held at Rupp Arena, Freedom Hall, or the new YUM Center.
  9. I don't watch much TV, but over the last 15 years have enjoyed some great series. I loved the Sopranos, True Blood and Lost on TV and Harry Potter, and even the Twilight Trilogy at the movies. We've been watching Downton Abbey on Netflix and PBS and it is the best ever. Think Melrose Place meets Masterpiece Theater--two thumbs up.

    Middle School State Results

No disrespect intended to my own club or any other teams not from N Ky. Cincy has finally caught up with NE Ohio and the N Ky community is benefitting from that as well. Just look at the numbers and quality of the youth programs from that area. The bar has been raised.

    Middle School State Results

It will be interesting to see if the Northern Kentucky programs leave the rest of the state in the dust. The Oldham programs and River City/Shamrock are doing great things (along with Union Co etc) but the numbers and quality at CC and Ryle are impressive at the youth level. It's great to see the sport flourish.
  17. I just gouged out my eyes after that David Beckham ad.

    New Weight Classes: Round 2

HIgh school wrestling should be for high school wrestlers imho. If you want to "develop" 7th or 8th graders, great, just do it in middle school. 106 is a class dominated by 9th/10th graders anyway. What other state allows middle schoolers to compete in HS? There may be some, but I don't know any. I think the sport is growing enough that middle school wrestlers are being challenged without having to wrestle HS. Mark me down as a "No."

State Duals Split into Big School/Little School

Louisville needs to host more wrestling events. It's central geographically and it's where the population clusters are. Most of the teams are from N Ky or the Louisville area, yet they all have to drive to Lexington. Eastern Ky sure must have a lobby!

  25. Casey bought organic raisin bran from Trader Joes. I'm hoping that place goes out of business.
