    Team Kentucky

I believe the line up will look like this: 75- Scheffer 2x state champ 80- Binder 2 x state champ 85- Wiley 2x state champ (MOW-2011) 90- Hurst Runner up 95- L. Erdmen state champ 102- Heidorf state champ 110- Shirkey state champ 117- Belk state champ 125- Frankone 2x state champ ( MOW-2010) 132- Lampe state champ 140- Meimen state champ 150- Warwick state champ 160- Mathews 2x state champ 175- 195- 220- 275- I have no clue on the bottom 4. Looks like a solid team, hopefully they will make it out of there pool and into the gold pool. 5 two time state champs are nice, especially since 4 of them will be returning next year. I dont believe kentucky has never placed higher than 9. Good luck next weekend boys.

Wilson has a temper?? I'm guess we watched different matches then. Wilson is a competitor and wrestled his butt off as did Duncan and came up short, what competitor wouldnt be fired up? As Wilson's coach I could not have been more impressed with his attitude and demeanor after that match. For many kids saturday, when they lost they threw headgears, they cried, some called "Bulls***" and refused to shake kids hands, Wilson who is an eight grader and has been wrestling for a long time was a class act on and off the mat. He didnt cry, he didnt refuse to shake the kids hand, he did NOT BY ANY MEANS HAVE A TEMPER! He showed tremendous heart and determination to come back after losing his first match and won 5 in a row all by domination to finish 3rd by tech falling in the finals. So again Pinned500, what match were you watching??

    Middle school finals

Interesting stat: Derek Wiley out scored his opponents at district, regionals, and state by a combined score of 126-1! And that one point was on a stalling call in the semi's, which was also his closest match with a score of 8-1. I just found that last night and thought I would share it. Over all the finals were relatively competitive, I think KY Coach was not to far off when he said as many as 8 pins, I definently thought there were pins in other matches that werent called or 8 would have been spot on. On a side note, how does a school get -3 points in the state tournament??? I must be missing something here. I was surprised at how dominate the club division was this year over the school division. The top 5 teams all being club was quite impressive. Gray diffently put on a show as did Union county. Both teams represent the state very well.

At 117 Liam Mitchell should be the favorite at this weight class. Having seen almost the whole state this year, he is the best I have seen at 117. At 110 Keegan Duncan definetly should be a contender, your right he did pin Wilson but puttin a hurt'n? Not so much. Wilson was also MOW of Districts as well. At 185 its silly not to have Adams of Gray somewhere on that list. He is freakishly atheletic for a middle schooler and has turned into a quality wrestler. At 70 Jake Peace of Walton needs to be on here as a contender. He handed Roth his only loss of the season. I'm sure we'll have a better idea of where everyone should fall come the day after regionals.

    District 5 (Updates)

At the moment Gray is up 30 on the rest of the competition Looks like 70 and 75 are gonna be all Walton finals at the moment. Wiley is crusing through the competition Scaggs gets a concussion and is out of the tournament. From what I heard just tremendous heart to finish the match. Sucks the kid wont be able to compete for a state title. Both Erdmens are rocking and rolling at 89 and 96. Goshorn looking good so far. 110- Rich gets pinned by Trosper from Walton. Biggest upset of the day for sure. 117 Belk vs Grandstaff final...Should be a dousey Brandstetter is rocking and rolling. Woolfe looking very sharp on the day. Miemen is going to be tough to beat come state time. He is the real deal Looks like Dorne will win this weight class. Warwick is wrestling good on the day in the one match he's had. Him and Navey should be an interesting finals match. 185 Will be between Adams and Kohlman. Hwt- Nothing more can be said about Turkeyfoots heavy weight he is a monster. Lot of good finals matches coming up, hopefully I can leave work and make it to the finals on time! More updates coming as I get them in.

Here is four more kids: 89- Jordan Monroe Con- Only loss to Hurst from Woodford 9-8 first tournament of the season and hands down the most improved young man on our wrestling team so far this year. 110- Andy Wilson Con 117- Michael Grandstaff Con- Been at 124 all year and making the cut to 117, only loss is to Woodford County's 124. Pinned Lampe over the summer in a tournament, was winning 8-0 before the pin. 165- Jacob Warwick Con Finished 4th in state last year at 140 only loss to Metz at Conference. Also Scaggs is going 89 from what his coach has told me. Saturday we should see the match up between Wiley and Binder Good job so far! Keep'em coming

    Hey Ranger, We Need You!!!!

Conner will wrestle Twenhofel on Friday, so I can let you know what they have after that date. Ranger123- Good luck with middle school rankings, their gonna be darn near impossible. But like the start. If it helps I can send you all of Conner's results to atleast keep you informed on one Northern Kentucky team
  11. Superdave13- I posted something about Mieman cause I think very highly of the kid. He is a class act and an in your face kind of wrestler, something that is very fun to watch. Mieman is making a huge weight change and I expect him to be sluggish and lose a couple before he gets his weight down and is wrestling at the level he can. I have watched him for four years now and he's impressed me every year. I understand your from Campbell County (I seen your profile) and you probably have some relation to Matthews since your previous post from last years state tournament indicated you were. Just because Eli beat Mieman, by no means makes Mieman a bad wrestler or a wrestler people shouldn't talk about. And I'm not quiet sure what your talking about Mieman dropping to avoid Mathews like he did last year??? Mieman wrestled 110 and Mathews was 130. Gray was also very good in the weights in between there so your statement is off base. Regardless, if Mathews can conduct himself in a championship manner this year unlike he did last year in the state finals he has himself a fan in me. I support all Northern Kentucky kids and wish them the best. Now back to wrestling.

    Elkhorn Duals

Does anyone have the team results from Elkhorn? Just curious, I wasn't able to make it there with my team. Also any individual performances to take note of?
  13. I'm curious to know the team scores for the pool that consisted of Campbell County, Gray, Elkhorn, and Fern Creek. Also curious to see what kids such as AJ Binder, Brady Wells, Johnny Miemen all wrestled at.
