Not sure about grade, but it is possible to be a 16 year old in the junior division.

USA Wrestling website says Cadets birth year 1999-2000 Juniors born after 9/1/1995 and enrolled in grades 9-12

How many teams did KY enter this year? Anyone know the rosters for the teams? I hope someone will provide updates throughout the competition.
-
Did KY Blue have a exhibition dual or is track missing one of the duals? I could only find 3 dual results and all the wrestlers records only show 3 matches.
-
Track lists Angel as 3-0. KY Blue had a bye yesterday.

You are right! I missed that one. Max is still going and a guaranteed AA. Way to go Max!

4 I think. Cornett, Frankrone, and Myers in the finals. Moore wrestling for 7/8.

The major difference between this situation and Zane Brown is Zane is enrolled in the Jefferson County Public School System. He therefore is allowed to wrestle high school for the team for which his middle schooler is a direct feeder. If he wrestles middle school for a club or for his school team is irrelevant. It does not affect where he wrestles for high school. High school sports and middle school wrestling are at this time run by seperate organizations. Your wrestler can wrestle middle school if he is part of a club. But my guess is there is no way he will be eligible to wrestle high school as an 8th grader unless he is enrolled in the public school system. As stated before, this is one of the main reasons that Trinity and St. X do not have middle school wrestlers competing at the high school level. They do not have direct feeder schools.
-
Yes but high school freshman are not eligible to wrestle in middle school competitions even if they are of age!!!!! Why? Because they are not in middle school. 7th & 8th graders are not in elementary school and therefore should not be allowed to wrestle in youth tournaments.
-
Correct me if I am wrong but does the rule for youth state read must not turn 13 by January 1st?? If that is the case then my son who has a late January birthday would be 13 and still be eligible for youth state. That just blows my mind.
-
That was my point to raidercoach. You can't compare middle school placers that are eligible for youth state and high schooler placers that are eligible for middle state. The middle schoolers don't have the same success at high school as youth do at middle school. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
-
I don't have the time nor desire to research all the top 4 placers however, 5 of the 15 middle school state champs were eligible for youth state. That is 1/3. How many of last years high school state champs were middle schoolers last year? I believe only Carr was a middle schooler. I venture to say that if we looked at top 4 placers at high school and middle school state we would find a similar percentage

I know that the debate about middle school placers wrestling at youth state will continue to a hot topic. I agree with the current rule that does not allow those who place top four in middle school to compete at youth state. There are now several youth age wrestlers who have won 2 middle school state titles. We all know that if these kids compete at youth state, they will win their brackets. Who does this benefit?? Not the multiple time middle school state champs. These boys already have bigger and better titles. Not the youth age kids who could have placed or won titles at youth state if these middle school champs are not able to compete. So why not give these other youth age wrestlers a chance to stand on the podium and get their recognition? In my opinion, you can't compare youth wrestling middle school and middle school wrestling high school. How many KY middle schoolers have won a HS state title?? Only a few. How many have done so at 7th grade or below? Because youth allows some kids to wrestle who are 7th graders, there are a huge number of middle state champs who are eligible to wrestle youth state. Those same numbers do not carry over from high school to middle school.

KSWA 2015 Youth State Tournament Information
marriedtothemat replied to MLee's topic in Youth Wrestling
There is no seeding for youth state. Brackets are all created by random draw. Kids from the same region and/or club are seperated for the first round when/if possible. -
Actually middle school only has 4 region champs to seed. There are 8 districts where top 4 kids from each district qualify for regions. Then 4 regions where top 4 kids from each region qualify for state. The 4 region champs are then seeded.

In many schools having tobacco on school property is an automatic suspension of 2-3 days. Students who do not attend school for whatever reason on the day of a meet or Friday before a Saturday meet are not eligible to participate. I am not certain of st. X's rules but in many schools if the incident had occurred last week he would have been able to wrestle at regionals. The timing of the incident and subsequent suspension may be what is preventing him from participating at Regionals. Like I say, I am not sure of the specific rules at St. X. Just offering a possible explanation.

I second 121 Brown versus Ervin. I can't wait to see that match!
-
TReynolds wrestling fan wasn't just asking nicely to see the seeds. He was being rude and unappreciative which is probably why Ranger responded the way he did.
-
In a perfect world, the top 4 at 113 meet in the semis at state. Will it work out that way??? We will all have to wait and see. But the bottom line in this, the winner will be the wrestler who brings his "a" game and then some at the state tournament. Vega, Hurst, and Moore might be the front runners but if any of them slack off or don't give it their all, there are plenty of other talented wrestlers in the weight class who will be more than willing and ready to step up and take their place.
-
Does Deck have any loses to Ky opponents at the middle school level? Just curious.
-
Vega won 3-1 over Moore at the Bearcat Brawl according to trackwrestling.
-
The problem with your statement is no one person can rearrange the brackets to better anyone. Approx. 50 coaches were on the seeding meeting call. They heard every weight and every seed. Once seeds are decided, the bracket works itself out. There are no questions or ways to manipulate it without changing the seeding. So nothing is hidden from any coach who took the time to participate in the seeding meeting call. If they wrote down each weight and the seeded wrestlers all they need to figure out every bracket is the region results which are already posted either on here or on trackwrestling.
-
You are right! It is possible for the top 4 ranked guys at any weight to all end up on the same side of the state bracket if all are from different regions. Makes for less exciting finals but it is what it is.

Not saying Cook will place above Wells or Castellano. Just that I expect him to place above Usselman, Shultz, Mattox, and Regaldo. You listed Wells and possibly Castellano as placing above Hurst. I don't expect that to happen unless it is because of the bracket draw. Hurst is a tough returning state champ who has never lost to Wells.
