Do you have a flyer for this tournament?
-
This year, they will be adding additional wins to their belts...so I wouldn't count them out just yet.
-
At the Junior High Level...taking into consideration last year as well as this year, you also should add Ryan Moore, Tanner Yenter, Blake Roth, & Brady Wells to that list.

Tiny Ranger Jr II is one of my favorite kids to watch wrestle. He is so darned cute! He reminds me a lot of Ryan when he was younger (and wrestling in Youth). Good kids and amazing wrestlers!
-
I think there are also some smaller 7th graders at the 70 lb. weight class (maybe 12/13 years old).

If only I would have known this 12 years ago...

Yes, we are very proud of Trevor. He and his Mom were both completely shocked by the MOW award. It was a great moment for both of them. I agree that Holub is a fantastic wrestler...and kid. I think the world of that boy and wish only the best for both of them. It is really difficult to root for a kid on your team when they are up against a kid you've grown to love and respect. It breaks my heart every time. You are always happy for the one who won and sad for the one who lost...all at the same time.

Ryle did a great job of running this tournament. I also wanted to mention that I heard from SEVERAL coaches about them having the best hospitality room...everything was homemade and wonderful. Plus the woman who made the food (and was serving it) was the sweetest lady. My husband (an assistant coach) couldn't say enough good things about her and the food in the hospitality room. I just wanted to mention it, because I think she should get some major credit for keeping the coaches happily fed...and with great food choices.

Sweet!

I highly recommend this Training Camp. My son loves it!

They had Luke Cocagne wrestling 75 lbs. He's also a great kid...all the Turkeyfoot boys are great kids who deserve the chance to make it to State. There really would be no way for their coaches to make a decision that people outside of their organization would think was the fair or correct one. It's the same with all our teams...we all make certain decisions regarding our own team that others might not see or understand the reason, therefore they think it's not right. Heck, knowing how great those coaches are at Turkeyfoot and how fair I know them to be, I would say that they most likely did wrestle the boys off. They probably then let the wrestler who lost make the decision on whether he wanted to also wrestle 70 or wrestle up in the 75 lb group.

DeLong wrestled at 70 on Saturday. Holub took 1st place. Trevor Frietsch from Twenhofel took 2nd. I'm not sure who took 3rd and 4th in that weight class. Could be any of these boys since they all are such good wrestlers. I know that Brandon Pye from Woodland and Thomas King from Summit View had to wrestle each other to see who would be wrestling for 3rd. Also Tom Ketchen-Carter from Campbell County and Joey DeLong from Turkeyfoot had to wrestle each other to see who would be the other person wrestling for 3rd.

There were several weight classes in Dist 6 that were stacked with potential State Champions. As always, Campbell County put together a great tournament. It was a very exciting day full of spectacular wrestlers doing what they do best. Campbell County took 1st place followed by Twenhofel at 2nd and Turkeyfoot at 3rd. Looking forward to this weekend at Ryle!

Is Harrison County going to post the results or official stat sheets for the Individual portion of their Dual Tournament. Since brackets weren't given out for this and the individual wrestling each other in the end weren't from the same original POD, we don't have their rosters to make sure we put the correct wrestler and team info in when updating stats on Track Wrestling. Thanks!

Great Tournament! Wilbers should definitely hire himself out as a tournament coordinator. He always does a fantastic job! Your whole team (coaches, parents, wrestlers, friends, etc.) did a great job with this tournament. -
The cookie and cupcake plates for each team were a really nice touch...so sweet!
-
SWEET!!! I hope they are all still in it when I get there to watch tomorrow morning! Thanks for the update, by the way!

Anyone know how Simon Kenton is doing today?

Thanks for the update!

I also thought it ran really smooth. The table I worked had some issues between refs and coaches, but that's going to happen no matter where you go or who is running the tournament. Especially at the youth level where they allow kids to ref. It's just too easy for coaches or parent/coaches to intimidate them into submission. I felt sorry for the kid who started out reffing my table. He's a great kid, but was verbally battered so horribly that he was sent off the mat crying. I understand that there were maybe some questionable calls being made, but that's going to happen if we allow young kids to ref our matches. Therefore we are going to either have to suck it up as a bad call and let it go or stop allowing kids to ref at our tournaments. We just can't continue to allow coaches and/or parents to overpower these kids if we are going to allow them to ref our matches.

Those bracket board were pretty sweet also!

Oh, I agree! I feel that all the boys who made it to the finals deserved to be there. I would never take that away from any of them. Brady looked great out there, as he always does. Roth is a little powerhouse and I expect nothing but great things from him in the future. I look forward to watching all the boys as they either continue to grow in Middle School or once they move on to High School. I love this sport...it's the best one out there and by far the most exciting to watch!!!
