I'm not positive, but I believe that I heard someone say Corey didn't make weight. If that's true, I feel very sad for him. I know it happens, but it still doesn't make it any less disappointing to them when it happens. Especially when they work so hard all year long.

I agree...the areas that have great Youth feeder programs are the areas that produce great Middle School Wrestlers and even greater High School Wrestlers (that is as long as they don't get burnt out and quit by the time they get to High School). I am excitedly looking forward to the years of Kentucky wrestling to come!

Elder High School is having a Youth Team Tournament this weekend for kids (6th grade and under...12 years old or younger) to introduce them to a Middle School / High School style tournament. Offer to work a table at State...maybe if you work one and you won't be eating the food they offer for the coaches, table workers, & refs they will allow you to bring your cooler in with no charge. ??? Can always ask!

I would love nothing more than to see little Grandstaff make it to the finals (other than seeing my boy in the finals, of course...different weight class, but would still be nice). Grandstaff is such a cute kid and you can tell he's been working his tail off. Best of luck to him...I'll have my fingers crossed.

I agree...that little man is top-notch. He's not only a spectacular wrestler, but a nice young man. He always has a great attitude and treats all of his competitors with the utmost respect (same goes for Wells in the 80 lb-ers); both are true winners in my book...from all angles. Wells has a much tougher bracket, but both will do just fine I'm sure (better then fine, actually).

In the past, if a Middle School wrestler made it to State for Middle School they didn't have to go to the Youth Regionals in order to be allowed to wrestle Youth State; however I've not heard whether they were making those same allowances for this year...so that's a great question!

Glad to see Mueller from Twenhofel made it on the list, although I have him as the Champion in his weight class...not a contender.

Still no results posted for this tournament? Wow! I know that they really messed up on the 70 lb bracket, but i'd like to at least see the results for the other weight classes.

Actually, they changed the NKY satelite weigh-in from Friday, Feb 3rd to Wednesday, Feb 1st at New Haven Elementary School 6:00 pm - 8:00pm. At least that is the last that I've heard.

I agree with trithis & dutch...you shouldn't dismiss Roth in the 75 lb-ers. I'm thinking Roth & Moore in the finals.

I understand what you are saying. It does take a long time to get through all of it, but I'm just not sure about the 16 man brackets. I feel that kids are forced to grow up so quickly these days when it comes to any sport (among many other things) and enjoy knowing that we're allowing more kids to feel special by having the smaller brackets with larger numbers of face-offs and more kids names getting to be call out under the spotlight. It's one day...can't we give them that?

I agree and pray they don't do away with the Face-Offs. It means ways too much to these kids. The kids are who this whole tournament is about so shouldn't we let them have it if it means that much to them?
