The KY Fair grounds charges about $8 to park! And that's this years cost; with the "new" theme park coming, they'll probably jack up that cost even more. Plus it's a little walk to the arena once there. The Fair grounds usually has several things going on at the same time (flea markets, other shows, etc). .

And I always thought Ref's where the most hated people there-- nope, dude with knife

This year seemed to run a lot smoother than last year-- not to mention we got out of there somewhat earlier, but still a long day. Two observations. (1) should they have an ambulance on site for the state tourny? I mean, I believe it was either 3-4, or 5-6 place kid broke arm or something to arm. Called 911 and seem to take them for ever to show up. Sure, there are trainers on-site and others, but at some point kid has to go to hospital. Guess its a $$ game to have or not have.

I was really surpised to see/hear that DeSales' 120 (??) kid who had only lost 1x-2x this season, runner-up at KOB-- didn't wrestle at that weight. The bleecher talk was he packed on too much weight and had to wrestle at a higher class due to injury. Didn't fare too well against bigger/stronger kids. Didn't even place.

Dudley from DeSales is out due to a freak spine injury. Word is his wrestling career is over, however, after few days in hospital he is up and walking.

Region 3 started this year. Last year, poor planning, poor seeding, poorly run tourny-- SEVERAL kids had to come back on SUNDAY due to the 5 match rule. SUNDAY??? That's after sitting there all crazy day Saturday. Don't get me started again-- I voiced my displeasure last year and the tourny director about blew a fit over my comments. OH WELLLLLLLLLL.
-
I don't believe DeSales will be there, as they were going to Danville.
-
To me there are 2 issues here. First- tourny's such as out at S. Oldham yesterday. According to the t-shirts, 29 teams there, and each class had about 20 kids. That's way too much for a 1-day tourny. Second- if you were not seeded and continued to win- there was NO WAY you could place. We had a kid go 4-1, not seeded, but won-won-and won, but due to the 5-match rule had to forefit in the placement round. Sad sad rule.

I know DeSales is sending some guys, albeit, smaller team than normal. The school is also hosting a JV sectional, so some of their underclassmen will be attending that.
-
Sorry- can't be correct, as LaRue County is shown under Region 6 small school (which wrestles this coming weekend), but they have already competed.
-
I believe 22- but don't hold me to that.
-
DeSales kid lost in semi's, but won in cons -- wrestling for 3rd place
-
LOL-- have to love the picks, as it's funny the names that are NOT listed. Not saying some of those guys aren't good or deserve to be there, but really?? Unless you are planning on quite a few upsets, some interesting things are going to be happening at Moore this weekend.

WOWWW.... how powerful is that MESSAGE! I've seen the clip several times, but never gets old. I've told people about the wrestling community, the kids, how they (most of time) cheer for their friends, or the under-dog, or other schools. Many times, it's the same kids that you'd never think your son would cheer for. Given the events of recent- thank you for sharing-- and thank God for great coaches, parents, ref's and wrestlers who show the true meaning of Winning.

I've heard DeSales has a full-squad, and most of the guys has exp. Lots of Jr and Srs on team, with good quality underclassmen. Should be interesting to see how all the teams play out.
-
Can anybody post results? I wasn't able to attend, and the Courier-Journal DID NOT have anything about the tourny in the paper. How sad-- it used to. I just saw where another tournament posted their team scores and each weight class draws sheets. That would be GREAT for this as well. Thanks...

Since Slick-Rick has a thing for the 3rd Region-- let's start there. OF COURSE--- this is NOT knowing (1) If kids will come out for wreslting; (2) IF they will stay in this Weight Class (you KNOW, some will go up, some down, some ???); and (3) You don't know who is going to have a BREAK OUT year and beat everyone they come across. Our coach told us about Wrestle-Off's early in the year. Each week you have the chance to win the "Varsity' spot. He then went on to say, at about 2/3 the way through the season, the person who has been in that spot the most, would remain there for rest of the year (baring injury) and represent the school at all post-season events. Seems fair to me. Guess others don't view it that way. BTW-- has made our team stronger, and we know who is where, and no politics!
-
Count me as a NO. We struggle to field a full team anyway (smaller school), so adding additional W/C would be a burden.
-
DeSales got 3rd even after giving up several forefits due to illness.

DeSales varsity will be there

DeSales 138 pinned Eastern's this past weekend at Central. Belived he also pinned kid from John Hardin the week prior. -
DeSales had a good showing out at J'town last weekend. Their 113 (Thompson-- and yes, G-child of Coach) went 4-1 (4 pins); 126 (Miller) went 5-0; 132 (Elkins) went 4-1 (4 pints); 138 (Dudley) went 4-1 (4 pins) and rest of team looked good.

Kid from DeSales (Ford)-- 6th at state (285) and was ranked top 10 most of season

Guys: This was my FIRST state meet. It was one of the best events I've been to, from just the "show" standpoint. The food however, was a SAD SAD SAD thing for a STATE meet. My son's regional had better food (we hosted this year). The Committee made sure it was "Wrestler Friendly" and "Parent Friendly", knowing that most of the folks would be there from 7:30 am- 6pm! One would hope that a STATE MEET would want to SHOWCASE the event in all aspects. I agree with others-- a nasty slice of pizza (which gave me the craps) + soda for $6? Later on, we got 2 prezztles and a G2 for about $9. UGGGG. :|
