  1. I think the arena is great.

    Pros:

    - Centrally located

    - Large Facility

    - Plently of places to eat and stay

    - Can easily see all matches

    Cons:

    - The big screen is way too bright and very hard to see.

    - As a spectator the dirt floor looks like it could create a lot of problems for the wrestlers. I'm sure a lot of dirt gets on the mats.

What i would like to see differently:

    - Sheet of Vinyl to cover the whole floor. (dirt will be out of sight and out of mind.)

    - Dim the big screen

    - 8 mats to speed the process up. (don't know how this effects the 45 min. rule)

    - Finals on Raised stage

  2. Some great early wrestling going on, makes me proud of KY wrestling.

    Blackwell VS Gus Adams:

Love the way both of these guys didn't hold anything back all out brawl. Great match to the both of you.

    Canter VS Lane Jones:

Great come back from Jones in this match, after the first period i thought Canter had it in the bag, just goes to show how important it is to finish takedowns inbouds on the line. Great job Lane!

    Jayce Carr VS Clay Brown

These guys are awesome scramblers! It was awesome to see these two go at it, some very good back and forth.

Excited for tomorrows matches. Paul Hamilton might pull the win off against Jayce in the finals, although Jayce is a gamer so that will make it exciting.

    Good luck to all.

  3. If a wrestler A defends a single leg by forcing the opponent B into a cross face cradle and turns that wrestler to his back but the opponent still B has a grip on the leg, should back points be awarded? Wrestler A is clearly in control and B is holding on for dear life.

Holding onto a leg does not stop the takedown, when the control is imminent the ref should award the takedown then start counting back points.

  4. Figure this would be a good place for people to get answers on questions they had. It seems to be a pretty popular thread on Yappi.

This is a Q & A thread, please no bashing of anyone on here.

Just post a question/situation below and hopefully some of the refs around the state can chime in.

  5. 100% after the schedule he has had and some

Injuries early in the year . Not many would be 100% and many kids are not 100% this time of yr ,I doubt you are

That came from the horses mouth.... haha me 100%, i haven't been that in over 5 years.

  6. This in no way slights what Lampe did, he is a fine wrestler and top contender, but I heard Cooper's a little banged up and not clicking on all cylinders right now.  It should be very interesting at state if anyone will be a real threat to beat him.

Not True, Kevin's dad says he's a 100% right now so there's no excuses. Props to Lampe, hard work goes a long way.

  7. Let me ask. Isnt it if you are taking someone down as he is going out of bounds first your toes have to still be remaining in and second your knees have to be off of the mat? If so you can clearly see his knees are down. Its funny because next to the video on youtube when I watched it, youtube suggested I watch a video called "poor officiating" LOL Ironic huh

Not true. You can take someone down and your knees hit out of bounds, as long as your feet come back down inbounds right away then it's a takedown.

  8. Meyer and Bryant would be a great exhibition match. My vote for the win would be Myers. He is a good kid. I did some checking and I hear Miskell is training hard and wants to improve from what I am told. I hear he works on his own now.? I hear no one on his team wants to even run drilsl with the kid for what ever reason. I heard that there were words exchange between Miskell and his team because no one would warm up with him at a tournament. They said he is to rough is what was said. Some would think the coach would not let that go on. It is sad to see a good wrestler go without good training. Seems this kid could go far. We will be watching. We would also like to see that exhibition with Meyer and Bryant. Lets make it happen.

You hear an awful lot don't you.

  9. After watching a couple of matches on Marinelli i think Myers is going to beat him, maybe even major him. Cooper doesn't have a cake walk to the finals, the Delta kid with a 5 seed is an OH state placer and a stud.

I'm predicting a Cooper Myers finals.

  11. Not trying to keep this thread going, but did anyone watch the Cooper/Hall match today at the Michigan Grappler. Great match, Coop was up going into 3rd, but Hall pulled it out 5-3 with riding time. Coop went after him and was in his face the whole match. I'll go with Kevin next weekend, he'll finish that single the next time!
