    Refs, Formats, and misc. Concerns

Being a Ref is tough and stressful, i did it for 2 years before helping out as a coach and I give them a lot of credit to get out there and give back to the sport. I have wrestled all my life and pretty much know how to call each position, but it's a lot to take in when you have to focus on the wrestlers position and take heat from coaches when the calls don't go the way they think. The biggest problem with the way the officials are going about their business is that they aren't getting any feedback on how to be a better ref. They simply take the test at the beginning of the year then they are on their own. I think it needs to be more of an organization and have meetings every so often to discuss different calls and positions, this will help keep calls all across the state pretty consistent. Aside from that I think that feedback is going to be the biggest help that they could receive. In college there are head officials that go to certain matches to observe new refs or controversial refs to see what they are doing wrong so they can make corrections and be a better ref. Now I know that KY doesn't have the numbers to be doing this, but the coaches should fill out a survey online after every dual to be submitted to whoever is in charge of the refs. Then that person could look over the sheets and see if there are any similarities between the complaints from the coaches, then they could be addressed at that point. - Regional meetings all across the states to discuss the same situations - Feedback forms online submitted to whoever is in charge of the refs after every dual/tournament (could have sheets given out at the coaches meeting for each ref so they can take notes throughout the day) I think if Refs had more feedback they would make better calls and have more confidence in their calls. If there were region meeting all across the state to discuss certain situations the calls would be more consistant.

    South Oldham Dragon Invitational?

I like Clay a lot but it won't be close, Ruschell is on a different level. I always enjoy a good match though, good luck to both.

    State Duals coming up

That is correct, however; from what i understand Ryle will be going to a tournament in Ohio that weekend leaving #3 SK able to attend.

    State Duals coming up

Tis the year for the hawks for sure, they have a great program going on down there and I don't believe anyone can come close to them. Aside from them I'm with Figure4, CC, Trinity, and Union are going to be amungst the top teams. I'm preditcting that Simon Kenton will have some major upsets down there. They beat Ryle early in the year and just lost to both CC and Ryle recently by two points with 4 of their starters out... they will have their full line up down at State Duals. Larue over SK in the finals.

    Match ups in region 6

Can someone list the scores of each dual?
  8. 90% of heavy weight matches are "extremely close", both guys get a stand up. Winner is usually decided by one takedown to none.

    Campbell County - Ryle Dual

SuperS1 Your antics are hilarious and addicting to read. It's like watching a reality show, everyone is so far from the actual reality that they live in their own world. Everything you write on here is insanely stupid, you burn every bridge that you have ever crossed and most other places you want to go. It is sad that your kids are sitting out but hey that's your fault, instead of bad mouthing the coach you should be working things out in a calm manner and kissing his a.. because he's your only option at wrestling in KY..... Wait what am I doing, you can't tell this guy anything, just wasting my time. Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks for the entertainment and I hope you find a way to manipulate the system once again to get your kids back on the mat because they truly are the real deal.

    SWOWCA - NKY results

Simon Kenton 6th place 123.0 points Ryle 10th place 114.5 points Walton Verona 24th place 60.5 points Northern Kentucky teams were looking good at one of Cincinnati’s toughest tournaments this weekend. Cincinnati typically doesn’t give KY any respect but if you’re looking on Yappi everyone is praising the level of talent were bringing across the river. Simon Kenton is looking well put together as they lead the tournament for over half of the first day. SK is currently #1 in the standing for Region 6 this year, they beat Ryle in a heads up dual and Ryle beat Campbell just last week. I know everyone isn’t situated at their weights yet but SK seems to have it together so far. Cooper won the tournament with a 3-2 win over a tough kid that looked like the Russian figher Drago from Rocky. Parrot was very tough losing a close one in the finals 4-2. Ryle has some studs, I love the way that Ahern is wrestling. He lost a close one in overtime during the finals yesterday. That kid is always hanging on to something and keeping scrambles alive. Ruschell lost a close one in the Semis 2-1, other than that he handle everyone else with ease. Surprised to see Clay Brown at 132, kid hit a growth spurt over the summer. 106: Logan Erdman – Ryle 4th 113: Jake Erdman – Ryle 8th 120: Joey Parrott – SK 2nd Gus Adams – Ryle 4th 132: TJ Ruschell – Ryle 3rd Clay Brown – Walton 8th 138: Cory Ahern – Ryle 2nd 145: Kevin Cooper – SK 1st Logan Jones – Walton 6th 152: Lane Jones – Walton 5th 160: Jacob Clark – SK 8th 170: Hiero Chamblee – SK 6th

    Patriot Open

This tournament used to be for Freshman wresters and anyone that has not qualified for nationals, is it still ran that way? How was the turnout last year, and which teams will be there this year?

    New Weight Classes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 26, 2011) — The most significant changes in weight classes in high school wrestling in 23 years will take place in the 2011-12 season. In its April 4-6 meeting in Indianapolis, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Wrestling Rules Committee approved an upward shift of the weight classes, beginning with the 103-pound class moving to 106 pounds, which resulted in new weights for 10 of the 14 classes. The changes in weight classes, along with 17 other rules revisions, were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors. The 14 weight classes approved by the committee for 2011-12 are as follows: 106 (pounds), 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285. Three middle weight classes – 145, 152 and 160 – were retained, although they are 7-8-9 in order now rather than 8-9-10. The largest weight class (285 pounds) remains unchanged as well.

    wrestling brothers

Crazy this thread originated in 2006 and it's still active on the board 5 years later. My vote is for SK to have the richest brother wrestling heritage. 1st set: Kaiser - Paul Kaiser 140 1992 - Steve Kaiser 145 1994 2nd set: Lee - Matt Lee 125 1993 - Mike Lee 140 1994 3rd set: Cooper set #1 - Brad Cooper 119 2001 (x3) - Craig Cooper 152 2002 - Neil Cooper 152 2005 - Kevin Cooper 135 2011 4th set: Cooper set #2 - Kyle Cooper 145 2004 - Austin Cooper 160 2006 Total of 12 titles. and these are just the brothers that were champs. Anyone have 4 or more sets of brothers that have more titles?

NAIA Rankings 2/22 - Several KY Boys Ranked

It's a shame that Cumberland(KY) isn't even in the top 20 anymore, they used to have a good name for themself and were always in the top 6 up until Jess Wilder left.
